This question is for anyone running FS Global 2010. I just received it today and installed it , total install was only about 2.5 hrs, which I understand was very quick. It should have been 21 GB for this FSX install but my final is only 19.3 GB. 2275 files 16 folders. When the second disc was loading it only ran for a few minutes before it asked for the third. 6 discs total. Does this sound right? All the correct folders show up in the scenery library but I'm wondering if there are some files that didn't get loaded from that second disc. any ideas?

I've been working on a new app for the past few weeks and I think it's really coming along nicely. There are not many GPS like apps for Android out there. I've been wanting one for my SimPit for some time so I finally decided to write my own. It's been a fun little project with some nice challenges. I could probably go on and on about it but videos and screenshots speak more than words. I do hope to release it soon. I'm ironing out a few final bugs and I'm working with a graphic artist to finalize the graphics (I've done them all so far so it's not that pretty right now  ). I hope there is some interest for something like this. I know I've been wanting somet…

Hey everyone, I see a lot of folks posting fast and furious about the very recent Steam release of FSX. I think already we've done our own classification/standardization of certain terms, one of them differentiating native FSX from the Steam version by referring to them as FSX:MS and FSX:SE respectively. I also see a lot of folks trying to pull everyone together into one post or another to start a parent thread we can all refer to. While an excellent idea, I can see these individual threads quickly growing to unmanageable levels (read: great enthusiasm about the new addition to our world, hehe). I don't mind large threads if I've been keeping up with them, but …

Or is it really Skunkworks VS Steam (pure distribution) LOL. What is Dovetail to the aeronautics industry ? Any chance they might pump out a 64bit FSX before Prepar3d ? Prepar3d has already vastly improved the visuals, stability and performance of flight simulation with its FSX license. Maybe these are truly complementary platforms... game oriented flight vs professional/student flight training ? Is this the real point of offering FSX variations ? One thing is certain, competition will most certainly accelerate development of flight simulation software

With all the talk about the new Steam version of FSX, I noticed a number of people state how fed up they are having to use the DVDs every time they reinstall. Simple solution.... Don't;-) Until I got Acronis Backup, I probably use to reinstall FSX anything up to 6 or 8 times a year!!!!! Just 'copy & paste' ALL the files from the DVD's into a folder that's kept somewhere on your PC. I just use a normally switched off dead storage HDD. Installing FSX from there is MASSIVELY faster and simpler than from DVD media. I know it sounds stupidly simple, but sometimes I can be pretty stupidly simple;-)))

I'm installing some addons in FSX:SE and for scenery I already have installed into P3D, I thought to just add those folder manually to the FSX:SE library. Only when I want to add a folder that contains a scenery folder, like I do in P3D, it doesnt add that folder, but opens it. So in that folder is the scenery folder itself, so I select that to add to the library, but again it opens the folder instead of adding it, leaving me with an open folder, showing no files or other folders. Has anyone tried to manually add scenery to FSX:SE and can tell me how to do this?

At last, for all those, like me, who have been asking and asking for a Malaga LEMD, well it looks as though our wishes are about to be answered. Over on the Aerosoft forum there's a post informing of the future release of Malaga X. It would seem that SimWings is the developer behind the scenery. I only hope they include a performance control panel. When it will be released is anyone's guess, as Aerosoft has a habit of previewing products many, many months ahead of it's release date. Either way, it's great news though.

Any recommendations for a good flight planning app or apps. Looked at Sporty's and others but wondered if anyone was using them for FSX and recommendations. Also, why does the search field disappear at the top of the forum page? Thanks. Randall

Sorry to perpetuate the vs topics, but I'm hoping I can get some pros and cons posts about the Flight1 DC9 and the Captain Sim 1011. I'm going to reward myself with a new classic bird and I'm having trouble deciding between them. Any insight existing owners of these planes can put forth is most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I hate to bring this stuff up again....... but I have reached my boiling point. I recently bought a brand new custom computer: I7-4790k @ 4.6GHz 16GB Ram GTX 780 Ti SC I am also running a 28" 4k Monitor at full resolution. I have followed NickN's guide to the end, but kept getting OOMs in DX9. I was very sad about this because my sim was PERFECT. NO stuttering, BUTTER smooth. The OOMs left me with no choice. Stepped up my game and decided to switch to DX10. The sim, for the most part has been running well, as I can get a constant 29.9 FPS. But, as we know, FPS doesn't mean anything in FSX. The problem is, it doesn't look smooth. At all.…

Hi, today I was shopping in one of my local supermarkets (Germany) and in the games section I saw several boxed versions of FSX Professional Edition on sale for 15 Euro. I only own FSX standard version without Acceleration so I'm thinking of buying it on Steam again. So I guess... 1. the price on Steam should be 15 Euro or less. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense to buy it on Steam when You still can get it for 15Euro in the local supermarket. (Also several other electronics stores and retailers in Germany still have the boxed version of FSX Prof.Ed. on display and on sale.) 2. As long as there are boxed versions on sale and in circulation M$ will have to keep t…

Hi all, Everything was running fine for months now. Since yesterday the start-up screen preview window just is black but offers all the options. After full start of FSX just the Windows screen with Flightsimulator X information on its blue frame is showing, the rest stays black, no FSX menus, nothing. Removing the fsx.cfg and creating a new one = no improvement, sometimes FSX wasn't even starting anymore, just hang. Is somebody here on this forum who knows this problem and its remedy? Thanks in advance for any helpful tips! Best regards Ernst
