The main thread for this discussion is pretty well buried, and it was gaining in length and going OT so I thought I would post a new thread so that users were not misinformed of the rules regarding whether or not strobes were required for daytime, VFR flight.I dont remember how many posts (couldve been 1 or 2 or even 3) were reciting FAR 91.209 which states that no person may operate an aircraft that is equipped with an anticollision light system, unless it has lighted anticollision lights. when i boot up fs2002 or when flying, fs2002 keeps coming up with this message about missing scenery files and that some buildins will not show. please can anyone tell me how to rectify this problem without un/reinstalling fs2002.

HI,I am not a real weather freak, but I enjoy the default functionality in FS 2k2 which lets me download real weather. However, I am confused: does this download real weather only for the airport I am at right now or for the entire globe? I do see weather effects all along my routes, but never sure whether some of that is random. Also, why does it happens sometimes that on descent I am passing through thick clouds, and then suddenly they are gone? When I look back or up, I should see the clouds I just passed through, no?Cheers for hints to my "dummy questions"Chris

Hi,I am in troubles with some gauges (carburettor heat lever, primers, magnetos) that are in my Gauges folder (some from FS2002 planes, some from FS2000 planes). They work very well in FS2000 but are out of order on the FS2002 panels ( example : the primer gauge works on the recent and beautiful Beech Super 18 panel but don't work on all the others). The gauges appear on the panels but don't visually work at all.Usually I read carefully the files Air.cfg but no words for carburettor heat or primers abilitation have been included.I Fly with piston engined planes ( no jets, no modern Airliners) so is important to have this gauges included.Can anyone suggest me something …

Hi guys,I took a break from flight-simming last week and decided to re-discover my PlayStation 2 in preparation for the upcoming NHL2003... all FS fans are also hockey fans - most of them just don't know it yet! Anyway, during that time, I picked up a copy of Playstation magazine and was pleasantly surprised to find that they included an archive of every game that had ever been reviewed! After "neglecting" my PS2 for many months, I was able to catch up on the "best" titles available for that system by simply browsing through a few pages.I think Avsim should adopt a similar system.... Greetings all, Although my current system is a nice step up from the old Compaq 600 MHz machine, it's still not quite as fast as I'd like it to be. Pertinent specs as follows:Athlon XP 1600+512 MB ECC SDRAM18.2 GB 10K RPM SCSI HDRadeon 8500 64 MBThe usual assortment of optical and removable media drives...I like to run FS2002 at 1280x1024 with most of the settings maxed out, and in most places the frame rate is acceptable (18-25). Some places, like LAX, the frame rate drops down below 10 FPS. What's worse is when switching to external views on the PIC767, I can only expect around 3-4 FPS - unacceptable.I'm wondering what is the best bang for the buck - change to DDR…

Maybe i'm a little late but i just installed "Autoland 2002" and i've noticed my AI planes aren't plowing into the earth just short of the runway anymore. They still aren't perfect landings but they still get on the ground safe. So far only oberved this with POSKY 757's and 767-300's . Totally unexpected. comments?On another wierd note i bumped up my traffic maneger settings to 100,000 and now get alot of my AI's flying out of my airports instead of just sitting at the gate (been steady loading world AI flight plans).

Have added some new aircraft and when I go to fly them they show up as "unspecified"...........Seems like I saw a fix to this problem some time ago but can't remember where. Any help would be appreciated....thanks.

All of a sudden I cannot hear any ATC transmissions. I can see the messages scroll across the screen, but, I cannot hear anything. All other sounds work fine. I tried adjusting the ATC slider in the "sound" options, but I still cannot hear anything.What happened? Any ideas? Thanks

Hi !I'm in the process of buying old (4-5 yrs.) gameport CH Pro Pedals, which have two separate cables extending from the unit. The other is put into gameport, and you're supposed to attach a joystick to the other.Question:I'm using the CH flightsim USB Yoke and Windows XP. Would the older Pro Pedals work with this combo, if I have no additional joystick to attach to the second cable?The PDFs at chproducts' Website say that no, but some people claim to run systems such as mine with these older pedals.Info on the matter much appreciated!!!Tero

Hi,In fs2002, on any airport, default or not, the runway flickers just in front of the plane so that the terrain below is visible. Sometimes it appears only when the aircraft has enough speed.I have a geforce3 with detonator drivers but this problems occurs with any driver.Any idea ?Thanks

On anything but the best asphalt/cement runways/taxiways. Happens with full fuel or no fuel...Anybody else experience this and is there something I can edit to correct it?thanks for any help!

Im becoming very frustrated with my flight simulator 2002. It runs in a very choppy way and it drives me crazy. So my question is....What is a good ammount of RAM to have for Fs2002 to run at best speeds. I have 255 but that dosnt seem to be good enough. What do you guys think I should do?PsI run defrag, scan disk, delete temp,and temporary internet files + fs is the only game on my computer.
