I just installed orbx global and I love it but it seems the 3d night lights tend to build right in front of the plane. Is there a way to extend these lights farther out in the distance? It's my understanding that they are tree autogen? I have fsx with both service packs installed. Is there a cfg file tweek. I expanded lod radius to 6.5 but didn't see any improvement. I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post but I've tried orbx forums and the site email for support but nobody answered. Everyone in here has always been awesome. Thanks for suggestions. Scotty

Actually, I'm having trouble activating FSX Acceleration in Windows 10. After fiddling around with activate.exe for about 20 minutes the activation window finally popped up and I was able to enter my product key for FSX. I then installed FSX Acceleration expecting but so far have been unable to get activate.exe to run so I can enter it's product key. Running it in Windows XP compatibility mode and as administrator has so far been unsuccessful as it apparently was with FSX itself (actually, I'm not quite sure how I managed to get activate.exe to run so I could activate FSX!). Hello, my lights stopped working suddenly on default aircraft and A2A one's. After many hours and installing 2nd FSX I found the issue It's /FSX/Textures file corruptionI was able to break the 2nd FSX just by swapping them. Imagine, I get a new PC and I want to transfer FSX planes to the new FSX. I for whatever reason only have the files of the planes, not the installers (things like A2A, Carenado, Rikoo, PMDG) Is there a way to transfer them? Thanks, Domi

HI Folks; Recently I have been experiencing sporadic FSX crashes (FSX ran into an issue which will cause it to close). I have been getting it once every 5 or 6 flights (no rhyme nor reason) and I really can't pinpoint exactly what if a specific app could be causing it. Each time I get it the event log are the same. Maybe someone on the forum may have had similar issues and can provide some input and or advice as to what the problem might be. Maybe I need an updated version. Not sure if there are conflicts with .Net Runtime app and other add-on apps that use it. There are no errors from the other apps which are Active Sky x; PMDG 747-8; Pro ATC x and FS2Crew. …

I run FSX with orbx global base and LC europe, ASN, accuFeel, trees and a handful of payware planes (not forgetting all the freebies). What I've never liked about fsx is is the rendering of clouds and fog./mist or the lack of thermal modeling for gliding. Other than that I'm pretty happy. Other than the base level terrain visuals what have other users found is improved over FSX? And what, (other than being rich), prompted you to move over?

Hello everyone, since flying in Norway and Alaska in FSX, I wanted to spot the Aurora Borealis aka the Northern lights. Yes, I did scan the whole internet, but there is not much to find. I know they were in fs2004 and 2002. And yes, they definitely should be in FSX. I saw the files and even downloaded the free Night Sky HD addon, that adds new textures for the aurora ( you can even choose which one do you want). And no, I don't want Envtex, and I'd like to keep it free. Many hours in these regions were spent without success. Today, I downloaded a mission that should add it just to test it out. Nothing. Hello, I am not in a current position to upgrade to the new MSFS2020 platform, so I am working to enable my FSX sim to last a while longer. I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Memory 4096 MB. Processor Intel 3.10GHz (4 CPUS)... and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980. The video card needs to change, but I would like to install an updated replacement card that can operate within the computer's parameters. I use McAfee as my AntiVirus app. Any suggestions on a card based on personal experience will be sincerely appreciated.

Hi, How can you add APU sounds to an aircraft? For example, I want to add 3rd party APU sounds to the IRIS Global Express, which uses the default CRJ 700 panel. How and where do I put these sound files and where do I edit the panel? Matt John

After reaching cruise altitude and going over the ocean, FSX started to freeze. Then, it stops freezing but only for a few seconds before it freezes again. Then it keeps on doing it in a loop. VAS usage is only 200MB so that is not the issue.

When I started making flight sim videos I thought it would be easy, you know how hard could it be? Here are a few things I had to do so I could get started . I'm using Win 7 on a quad core PC with 8 gig of RAM. Old tech now, I built it 7 years ago . First I had to go into windows advanced system settings and turn off all the win 7 frills. Win 7 runs FSX much better with all that stuff turned off. Then go into my video editing software ( Started with Vegas 12 and upgraded to Vegas Pro 16 ) and configured it a several times before getting the best settings for my system. Hello! I need to clear some space on my C drive. I have both FS9 and FSX installed on the C drive. I have not used FS9 for a long time and likely will not use in the near future. So.............the question. If I uninstall FS9 will that impact any operations within FSX? Thanks in advance for suggestions etc.

Hi all, I KNOW...we had this propably a thousand times already. But it really frustates me. I've been flying FSX/FS9 for almost 15 years now and I experienced a million different ways to make the Flight simulator crash (Blue Screen, OOM, CTD etc.). Last year at this time I even was so frustated I quit playing Flight Simulator and sweared to myself to wait until the new MSFS will be released. That's what I did. For that I even bought myself a new PC, because it just wouldn't be possible to play on my old one. Graphics -> WOW! Amazing! How do they do that? 😵 Performance -> WOW! Amazing! so guys i have a serius problem with the fsx view that make me almost impossible to play as i can t zoom as wanted in the cockpit. The problem is that when i use the mouse wheel for zoom pressing sbacebar instead of zooming in and out from a fix point , the view slew trough the entire cockpit as result wheni zoom out the view pass trough the cockpit seat and when i zoom in the view goes trough the glass , and also it doesnt show me the decimal indicator for the zoom , es 0.50 ecc. If someone can help i would be very grateful and also i have tried evrithina also reinstalled the game thank you.

Downloaded FSX Steam and not having much luck: Another question. While I have downloaded it and my used disc space seems to indicate a significant increase in used space, I'm not seeing it in my File Explorer. Do I have to be on STEAM to run it? Can I not just run FSX Steam as a standalone without being connected?

I love FSX missions that come with the various editions. Do any of the paid add-on mission packs take up the mantle? Also should I move to P3D 4 if the mission packs work in both p3d and FSX because p3d is still supported and more up to date? Thanks!

After more than a decade I have finally secured a 1080p 22 inch monitor....a hand-me-down from a family member who now uses a high end laptop rather than a desktop. Microsoft does not seem to have a website to purchase and download the FSX Steam Edition. Where do I go to download it? I'm not sure how it comes but I do not want the basic standard version. I want the Gold or Deluxe. Ken.

Hi guys got a new laptop by Dell it's a G7 with [email protected] 16GB memory a 2070 w/Max Q card and 1TP SSD But in FSX 10 twice now and all I get is black screen do get sound it starts when I click fly now .It lasted for over 20 mins. that when I killed it. All drivers are up to date can not figure it out??? Any help

I’m using the 2d cockpit displays. On the display it shows info for both VOR1 and VOR2 In the bottom corners. How do you choose the currently selected VOR from the primary and secondary settings for the AP to follow? If it was a Garmin g1000, there would be a CDI button. I guess I’m looking for something like that on the 737 and 747. Thanks!
