April 26, 20215 yr Hello everyone, since flying in Norway and Alaska in FSX, I wanted to spot the Aurora Borealis aka the Northern lights. Yes, I did scan the whole internet, but there is not much to find. I know they were in fs2004 and 2002. And yes, they definitely should be in FSX. I saw the files and even downloaded the free Night Sky HD addon, that adds new textures for the aurora ( you can even choose which one do you want). And no, I don't want Envtex, and I'd like to keep it free. Many hours in these regions were spent without success. Today, I downloaded a mission that should add it just to test it out. Nothing. I will try it with the original textures again, but that doesn't seem to be the issue I think. I also saw a youtube video with aurora and the guy edited aircraft.cfg to show the effect instead of smoke. I tried that, but no output (even tried pressing "I" which he was talking about, I don't see any smoke in other planes while pressing "I" anyways tho). Waiting for the guys further reply's. So, who of you saw the aurora in FSX? Did you use any addon? Mission? Scenery? Anything else? Or did it just very luckily appear? Any tips what could I do to see it? Preferably to force it, to be 100% sure they will appear for me. Thx for help. April 27, 20215 yr Also, the FS9 scenery add-on file "alaskff1.zip" will work in FSX and adds Northern Lights to many Alaskan airports. That file's available at Flightsim.com.

April 27, 20215 yr Administrators I remember doing an early evening (just as darkness was falling) landing at Unalakleet Airport and saw a small amount of the Aurora in the sky. There are effects files in FSX already. Charlie Aron AVSIM Board of Directors-ADMIN/Moderator-Registrar Awaiting the new Microsoft Flight Sim and the purchase of a new system. April 27, 20215 yr Author Guys, I found something. https://mutleyshangar.com/forum/topic/19489-flight-sim-aurora-borealis/?tab=comments#comment-150652 This one guy (shoutout to him) was saying something about stars.dat This exact line in it: https://prnt.sc/125pggc (this is the image) I did what he said, but this weird line appeared: https://prnt.sc/125pmdv (maybe I should change the zodiac thing back) Anyways, this line wasn't there before, I had to add it from my default star backup, since I was using Autostarx Now, I'll try to fly the mission again, I think it could work 🙂 Specs: HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop, RAM: 16GB, AMD Ryzen 5 4600H with Radeon Graphics, 3000 Mhz, 6 Cores, 12 Logical Processors
April 27, 20215 yr Author So, it didn't work, could anyone of you please try this mission and share the result? If you see them, don't forget to take a screenshot. Maybe it is some corrupted files in my FSX Anyways here is the download: https://simviation.com/1/browse-Missions-59-18 the 7th from top Thanks Specs: HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop, RAM: 16GB, AMD Ryzen 5 4600H with Radeon Graphics, 3000 Mhz, 6 Cores, 12 Logical Processors
