Had a bit of fun with FS2002 yesterday, performing two real time flights, in two different sessions, without having to reboot and without seeing any dropoff in FS performance. My first session was in Flight1's 421.... Flew it to Grand Canyon, then to Vegas, then to Reno, and finally to SFO. Added up to some five hours of flying....After dinner, I fired up FS2002 again, and set up a real time 737 flight. Originally I planned on SFO to JFK, but somewhere over Michigan I decided to divert into KCLE, so I could land before dark. I didn't realize until doing the pattern in KCLE what a treat it is to fly into that airport. Has to provide some of the smoothest performance in…

hi folks,i've just downloaded ktak_igs.zip out of the library, and wanted to take my pss bus for a long hop,so created a flightplan from wsss to vhhk(as it is called by the bloke who made all this,GOOD JOB!!),but i found that upon loading the flightplan i got a ctd,and after restarting and trying again,i got a ctd once more?...i do have the airac cycle 0213 installed, but does anybody know how to solve this(ie:how to make sure the pss airbus recognizes kaitak/vhhk),i've heard it is present as vhhx in the airac cycle from www.navdata.at,but how do i change the name then?thanks for reading

Right next door to my house is a Department of Natural Resources depot and the forest fire season is starting here. There are helicopters landing fairly regularly now in preparation for the season. So, just for the H**l of it I decided to use Lago's FSSE and build the DNR depot. I've been practicing landing the Bell now for a few hours. Man...now there's a challenge. I can get close to the ground but cannot seem to hover before touchdown. I'm always drifting slowly back/forward or left or right just a bit which makes for a sloppy landing. I'm using my yoke and pedals now. Maybe a joystick would help. So, who's managed to master the Bell? I'm getting steadily better but it's…

Hi all, Does anybody know when they are going to fix the fule bug in the new panel. I bought it on release day and have been unable to fly with it. Does anybody know a workaround for this. What is ARIANE's support e-mali address, as i dont seem to be able to find it on the site. I like their stuff but im not going to buy stuff from a site again that dosent even have an support email address, let alone the fact they dont even acknowledge the fact that there is a bug on the site and tell us when the patch is out.I Know this sounds like a rant, but some freeware stuff is supported better than this, and id like to fly now since i paid last week.

I dunno if I just dreamed this or I really saw last friday (or saturday)a DC6 panel included in the recent file list on the news page. As I always do, I left it to download from work instead of trying to do so at home through my 45 kb/sec dialup connection. Today I've been over the file library over and over without being able to find the panel. Can anyone shed some light? Where did this panel go?Thanks,Maurice

Actually the airport itself isn't missing, but I couldn't find it in the list of "go to....." airports.I decided to take an early morning flight today before starting my workday. I happen to have a VFR sectional for Washington State and looked over the possible departing airports I could use. I choose the Columbia Gorge Regional/The Dalles (DLS) right on the river east of Portland Internat'l. I figured I'd lift off from DLS, fly along the river to Portland Internat'l.... a nice VFR flight.I fired up FS2K2 and looked through the airport listings for Columbia Gorge. It wasn't listed under "Columbia" or "Dalles" or "The" nor even under DLS or KDLS. I thought that was ra…

Hi All-I'm rather new at the FS2002 game and would appreciate a little help. For general flying, I've just been firing it up, setting a flight through the included Flight Planner, and flying away. I set my own weather, generally to nasty weather, as I like to fly IFR.I know there's a lot more that can be done, so I'm looking for some tips. For example:Let's say I want to fly from Houston to Denver. What do you experienced guys do? What are the steps? In other words, do you first use a Flight Planner add-on such as FSNav to generate a flight plan? Then do you import this into FS2002? Does this then couple up with something like Radar Contact?I keep reading about these elabo…

Carrying on from another thread....After some flights jumping from plane to plane and airport to airport, my eyes are burning, my arm aches and as I shut down the sim I think: "I just wasted an hour of my life."Other flights go perfectly, beautiful weather and scenery and end with a gentle, straight-as-an-arrow approach and touchdown. These are the flights that keep me firing up the computer day after day; The ones that I replay in my mind for days afterward. So the question is, what makes a perfect flight for you?I recall two in particular. The first was on my first or second day with FS2002 (my first flightsim, btw) when I approached Gibraltar in a Cessna 182. In the rea…

Assumption:FS2002 is the eye-candy leader and X-Plane is the flight dynamics leader.Has anyone worked on "piping" the x-plane heading, speed, altitude, pitch, control surface status, ... to FS2002 so we can have both. Many of us have home networks and machines that can run either sim.Isn't this what the Microsoft net pipes are designed for? From the SDK"If you have a data set generated by an application other than Flight Simulator, you can use that information to drive the visuals in Flight Simulator 2002. You can even send partial and incomplete data and let Flight Simulator determine the missing the values. The steps for this procedure are: Transform that data into the f…

Hi,I just wonder if there is some kind of "Sound Remover" utility available for FS2002?For gauges which are not related anymore to any panel, there are a few Gauge Removers available. But how about all sound files in the FS2002/Sound folder which are not used any more by anything....can those be removed by any utility?Fly safe, :-waveStaffan AhlbergFFG

I know this won't happen, but I think that MS should integrate background downloading/updates for FS9/FS2004, simply because they may have changes all the time to sceneries. They can do it with Windows XP, I think it would be cool to include that with FS9.What do you think?Steve

After following the advise of Japp Verduijn to press this and press that ( ha,ha, only joking Japp, like you, nothing ventured, nothing gained ) I finished up taking it to the shop for a new hard drive and an update to Win.XP. On the long hard road to getting all my stuff back I was amazed ( and dismayed ) to see the number of times the cockpit was called the "Thingypit" As the father of one very attractive daughter and two handsome sons, I would be appalled to think I had brought them up to think this way. I find it very sad that anyone can think of a cockpit as anything other than where the flight crew sit in an aircraft. ( Hey Japp, how yer doing pal ? )Regards,Russel…

Hi Folks, finally found some time ty fly after a long period of absence. This time the great PSS 777 package which I combined with the meljet 777 according to the pssmeljet.zip file in the avsim library. So, on my flight from EGLL to EDDM, I first had some difficulties on final approach, loosely follwing the PSS tutorial for altitude/speed guidance (which actually used CYYZ -> CYYZ as a route). Problems occured on short final on an alt of 4800 intercepting the localizer and entering APPR mode on the AP... I lost altitude fast (at a rate of >1500 fpm) and disconnected the AP... only to make a nice crater in the ground (poor folks down there). This plane has a very nar…

  25. then does that mean that takeoff and landing rolling distance is wrong too? For example it requires an unreal high thurst setting and longer runway to takeoff and something like that? In fs I have to use 30-40 perent n1 thrust to taxi while in RL a little over idle thrust will do, but I think it doesn't take 2-3 times runway length to takeoff.
