I just have to crow to anyone who will listen about two wonderful aircraft that were uploaded in today's file library batch. If you're into VC flying, then these are two great examples. In no particular order, the first is Eugene Heyart's new DeHavilland DHC-3T Turbo Otter (supotter.zip) -- it not only has a very good looking exterior model and a very professionally done fictional paint job, but the VC I'd been looking for in just such a plane. The second, and on the other side of the coin, is Massimo Altieri's magnificent North American X-15C (x15c.zip). Wow, what a ride! It took me all of about 30 seconds to find FS2002's 100k altitude limit, and I got it up to nearly M…

I noted the Avior Virtual Beechcraft B1900D is listed in FS original files. It looks like bits and pieces are borrowed from other work--such as Mike Stone's B1900.... Just a warning for those on low bandwidth connections...-John

Hi - First, the FSnavigator site says this product has:SID/STAR direct Up-/Download from dedicated Internet ServerandAutomatic Routing by Airways and SID/STARs***First, what is required for the upload/download, and which server?Second, is it free, or subscription, or what? Also, I was looking for a review of this here but didn't find one - anybody know where to find a review?Last, I assume this can be used just fine without uploading sectionals for it.... Yah?Thanks,Andrew

Age is creeping up on me (52) and my eyesight is not what it used to be, vision in my right eye is somewhat blurred, so it looks as though I'll have to finally give up any thoughts of being a Tornado pilot in the RAF. If this isn't bad enough I now seem to be suffering from the dreaded blurries in FS (see pics). Can any of you immensely talented, experienced and generous (flattery gets you everywhere) simmers out there shed any light on the problem.I've tried every FS2002.cfg [Terrain] setting I could find in the forums, I have the latest drivers for my video card (Radeon 8500 128mb), I've tried the Omega drivers which are no better, my system is only 12 months old so I a…

Having downloaded the generic corporate repaints for the HJG Jetstar from the file library, I would like to customize these liveries to my personal taste by replacing the American registry on the outside of the engine nacelles by a German one, as well as swapping out the flag on the tail fin for the German flag. I first decompressed the files in question into 32-bit format using ImageTool, edited them in Paint Shop Pro 7, and then went back into ImageTool to re-compress them to DXT3 format. However, when I loaded up FS to check out my work, the nacelles would appear "chromed" instead of painted. Tracing back each step I made, I found that somewhere along the path the Alph…

I always think it's pretty dumb posting NOTAMs here about stuff in the library - does anyone read this forum and NOT check the library every day? - but here I am doing it.I posted updated airfiles for my recent FS2002-compatible repaints of Jan Visser's classic DC-3 the other day, but they're not exactly singing off the server. This surprises me slightly as there've been thousands of downloads of these planes to date, but maybe it just takes time or updates aren't seen as too important. Anyway, this note is just to point out that they're not just a tweak; the files are MUCH better behaviourally and will stop your Gooney Bird acting like a Lear Jet on steroids. They're …

I'm wondering if there is a utility that can "capture" real-world wx; the utility would work outside of FS2002 but be able to download weather in a format which can be loaded into FS later?I'd like to take a few snapshots of "interesting" weather areas without firing up FS.Thanks,Andrew

I screwed up the windows on the Jetstar repaints I did, just noticed that there should be an extra window forward on the left side of both the repaints I did...DOH! I have NO idea how I did it, something in the copying and pasting I guess. At least I caught it myself :) Fix for each scheme is in the library, sorry guys.Hornit

I have a minor problem hopefully someone can help.I never have this problem in FS 2000............... in FS 2002 of all my graphics work fine until I taxi to the gates. The concrete ends and then I have dirt. I have tried adjusting all of the settings with no results. This happens at all of the airports. My runways and taxiways are perfect.I contacted Microsoft...... the technician pulled up FS 2002 on his screen and got the same results (no concrete at the gates) and I was told that's just the way it is. I would appreciate any help and suggestions.

Evening all.I notice the 737, 777 and Learjet all have a CRS heading on the panel, but the 747 doesn't.Can someone please tell me the purpose of this, as opposed to the HDG box.I use the CRS as a reminder of what my final approach heading will be, however I'm guessing Boeing didn't design it for those with a short memory....And why doesn't the 747 have one?How does it get around not having what I presume is a rather important piece of nav aid?ThanksAllblack

I don't know what I did but I can't get any of my planes, other than the Cessna to take off. I have recalibrated my joystick, checked the settings for controls, and even made sure that I had the right flap settings. No luck. What do I need to do? I've been grounded for 2 days.

Version 10 of my DF737 Checklist is now availble here: http://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/checklist.html. Some of the latest changes include:-The entire document has been divided in half: online and offline. No longer necessary to download the entire document...only the type you need. -The aircraft is now now fully configured for landing at the outer marker...thus allowing for a 'stabilized' approach. -Specific V-speed bugs called for. -Landing lights on after take-off clearance. The default panels can be dragged to size so that for take offs, sightseeing etc I can see what I need to see but downloaded panels do not seem able to do this.I have seen a feature in X Plane that enables the panel to become transparent which seems a really good idea. Can I do this in MSFS? I am currently learning in FS2000 & waiting to buy FS2004.If not how do you guys take off in a tail dragger? I would like to learn in a Chipmunk which I have flown. My experience of "real" flying suggests that the view in MSTS is relatively very limited & peripheral vision very awkward!I am very new to all this but cannot find the answer by searching. Thank you

Hi All.I was wondering if anyone here is running a very fast sys, such as XP3000+ and a lot of ram and a good graphics card,I was just interested to see how FS2002 performed with a big rig thrown at it.and all sliders set high.

Well, it's quite spectacular. It's their first G-Max scenery. When I'm in the scenery the frames on my P4 2.4 are very smooth. However, flying into the scenery there are some big pauses while the scenery loads its massive amount of files. Hopefully, Simflyers can "tweak" that in an upgrade. Anyway, I highly recommend the scenery.Lee

I am considering purchasing Simflyers Frankfurt scenery, along with the new Las Vegas scenery.I would be interested in hearing other views on either scenery from those who have it - apart from Simflyers personnel of course :) Thanks

My sim setup consists of 3 networked PC's with VIA chipset mainboards and AMD Athlon processors. The "flying" PC uses a GeForce 3 TI4200 64MB videocard, the "spot plane/FSNav" PC a GEForce 3 32MB videocard and the "outside view" PC a Matrox Parhelia 256MB Triple Head videocard running 3 monitors. The video drivers are both Detonator 41.09 for the GeForce cards and the Matrox driver for the Matrox card. The setup has not given me any problem since the video drivers were installed about 2 months ago and I have been happily simming every weekend.Over the last 2 weekends, I have problems with the 2 PC's with the GeForce cards. Even when starting up with the default Meigs/C172 …

Can you trim a helicopter for pitch?I ask this because if I takeoff and let go of the stick my helicopter will pitch nose up and start flying backwards very fast. Also, to cruise, I have to keep quite a bit of forward pressure on the stick. Is this normal? kinda tough when travelling a fair distance. Thanks, Adam :-rotor

Having read the press blurb and seen who's involved I'm really looking forward to this release. One thing I really like is that photo-realistic views are available not only on the panel, but also on all the peripheral views (for fossils like me who still prefer to use 2D bitmaps over a VC). Nice looking aircaft, great panel and no doubt a quality FM as well.
