Just to let everyone know, me and a fellow flight simmer have decided to fly around the US in flight simulator 2002. We will do it online and it appears that it will be a pretty cool experience. On our site you can join us in flying this and become part of it. So on your spare time, check out our site. http://www25.brinkster.com/aroundtheusThanks for your time!Mike Morris

Does anyone know how many AI planes you can stack per model? Can you have, say one FSPainter A320 and 10 different airline textures, or do you need to break it up into different models, with say 3 airlines at a time?Lee

I have noticed a very slight stutter than happens, esp when taxiing around. If I don't look closely it isn't very noticable, in fact I believe an unsuspecting eye would not see it. I have a potent machine running a very clean Win2K Pro SP3, with everything working great. I decided to try disabling AC97 onboard sound. I noticed two things: the microstutters were gone, and when I set the max FPS in display settings in FS2K2 to 25, it would stay completely locked at 25.0 no matter what was happening in the flight situation. Before disabling AC97 sound the readout would dance around between 25.0, then 23.1, then 24.6, 24.7, 20.9, etc. This would be random of course. I…

I'd like to try flying some instrument approaches around my local airport, but I'm not yet willing to purchase Jeppesen Simcharts, especially with FS2004 and undoubted airport/procedure changes on the horizon. Could anyone email or post me a quality jpeg of an instrument chart for KAEX (Alexandria Intl)?Email address is: [email protected] (obviously, remove NOSPAM)Regards,Kenneth

Gentlemen, 1. Does anyone know if Microsoft has issued an official release date for FS 2004 in the USA?2. Does anyone have an idea of what new innovations, bells and whistles, and aircraft have been added versus FS2002?Thanks,Stanner

With the new generation of 256MB video cards already hitting the shelves I was wondering what is the total size of all ground textures in FS2002. If they could all fit within the card (plus some for aircraft, cockpit) then maybe we could almost have situation that little new data would have to be send to the card during a simulated flight (except perhaps airports and some weather stuff ?). That could have profound effect on performance. It is pure speculation on my part ...I wonder what you guys think. I recall very well late Richard Harvey was saying the 256MB on a video card would have dramatic effect on his FLY! sim.Michael J.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxre…

Hello there...I have received my FS2002 by mail this morning and installed it with succes. Usually there is one or more problems that have to be fixed by a patch or two and so I just wonder where to find these basic patches and general guidance to the top of the list "must have files".Regards Jesper85 hours PPL...and counting

Hi all,Just wondered if anyone knew of a lighting fix for Project Concorde. The forums on the site are in French, which I dont speak. For those who havent tried it, Project Concorde is a very nice freeware rendering of Concorde, but it is a wee bit buggy. If you like the aircraft, I reckon its worthwhile putting up with the imperfections.http://fsfrance.free.fr/Mach2/Main_eng.htmHappy landingsLonelyplanetXO

Got my PPL today (or at least the temporary)!! It took about nine months, $4K and 65 hours (the weather in Central NY was so bad this winter that I didn't get to fly much). I'm sure it could be done much faster but honestly I didn't see the sense in rushing it, especially since I knew my 6y old son would be eager to fly with me once I got it. It's a lot of work and yet I feel like I still have so much to learn.Flightsim definitely helped, even though many here still maintain that it doesn't. Oddly enough, I like the fact that the training has helped me enjoy FS more. I'm not going to recommend it to everyone because frankly I don't think it is for everyone. It's a huge ti…

I don't know if others have noticed this but EagleSoft's web page is no longer active. I hope we'll still see those little corporated jets released.

I have winXP that came with a new PC...I can no longer use my CH rudder pedals with a Logitec Wingman Digital...but they did work just fine when I had WinME...I've tried everything I can think of and nothing works. In the wingman profiler I changed the handle twist to rudders but XP won't recognize it. WinXP's control panel settings for game controls cancels out the rudder setting when it looks for the Logitec joystick.Microsoft support is no help at all...as in zero. I have the latest drivers installed and nothing will work. Has anyone run into this situation and if so can someone please help. I really need to use rudder pedals!Gary

Hello all.Does anyone ever wanted the airplane bump then the tailhook is extended or retracted? I do! I tried messing with the 2002 config and aircraft config trying to get the tailhook to react the same as the gear does when it is ext/ret...no joy. If anyone has any ideas, I am willing to try anything. On the A-6 Intruder, when that thing drops there better not be anyone under that hook! P.S. I am using the SideWinder ForceFeedback 2 Stick...Thanx, Chris

Does any one know how to get major roads and rivers and stuff into FSNav, or is there a flightplanner/moving map that does this. Data is in FS somewhere.I know the freeware Garmin 530 has it but its too resource intensive for me at the moment. Thanks

Fermin, :-lol ... I would have never thought that a transcript of an online chat would have resulted in a "Right of Reply". Good post amigo! And... I am sure that it will generate some discussion; hopefully not heated! :)

Hi there,I can remember last year just before the release of FS2002 where there was a hype on the avsim and flightsim forums concerning hardware and software questions: to upgrade or not to upgrade for FS2002?That time it took me a lot of time to browse through all new postings to find some interesting mails. Hopefully this year it will be somewhat less. I even have not heard anything about beta versions and critics about the beta versions. Is there anything we can do in preparing for all those people who will keep asking if their PC configuration is sufficient enough? Can we already set up some sticky posts with this information?Just my 02 cents....

Hi there. When using FS2002 sound have started stuttering - mainly when flying throug clouds and other heavy stuff like etc landing. The stuttering does not concern the FPS performance but makes the flight annoying for instance AI controllers. The stuttering seem to stop when I am looking out of the sidewindows (in PS A32x)I have XP pro, 2.4 Ghz, Gerforce TI4800, Detonator 40.xAnyone with simular problems and maybe some solutions..?Sincerly Michael

jerrycwo4The other day someone said there was a way to return to the viewing of this forum in the "old style". Something had to be changed, but I could not find it. Would someone please tell me where and what to change to return to the old style? Thanks, jerry

After doing flightsimming for some years now, I have still some basic questions, maybe someone can answer them?I almost exclusively use havy jetliners.1.) Flying in turbulent weather conditions: I experienced that even if the winds blow the aircraft's nose to the right and to the left, the plane seems to stay more or less on the desired path in the long run. Only approaches seem to be critical, and I usually counteract any turbulence here. How do real pilots fight against turbulences (e.g. rudder appliance)?2.) Are approaches in windy conditions flown with the yaw damper on or off in real life?3.) When manual rudder is applied, does this override the yaw damper in reality?…

I was just reading the front page announcement about Captain-Sims upcoming Yak 3. For those who like those Russian fighters (Im one of them) I thought I'd post this link http://knifemaker.free.fr/DDD_home.htmUnder French (Avions Francais) and Russian aircraft (Avions Russes) theres a rather nice freeware Yak 9 (later, more powerful model of the same aircraft). It's for CFS2 but is entirely 2k2 compatible. You can spin & sideslip it too; well, sort of :-)Have fun. its just the thing for practising aerobatics until the Captain Sim model comes out.All the bestLonelyplanetXO

I'm just about done my PPL. Have 48hrs in a Warrior. I've done 2 X-country flights and I can tell you that my Navigation training was made 500% easyer thanks to Flightsim. I fly 2 hrs every saturday then spend the week reflying my lessons with FS. Thanks to flightsim I was able to understand Navigation and the panel gauges before I even started my PPL. FS does help in a big way! Saves you money and time! Im ready for my check ride! Just wanna get a few more hours up. The people who claim FS is no aid just have a swelled head. I bet half of them don't even have a PPL.Well safe flying to all!Pete
