Question for those who have the gold copy. When flying IFR, will ATC give you an initial vector 50-80 miles out from your destination airport, as in FS2002, or is it a little more realistic? In IFR approaches, is the vectoring similar to FS2002?Thanks.Bob

Well, I thought I had this problem solved. The brakes release fine when I hit the period initially, but as soon as I apply them again, they remain locked indefinitely. Should aI remove all other brake assignments from, say, my CH FlightSim yoke?http://rg.travelocity.com.edgesuite.net/lo...ologo_35x35.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

The updated TCAS IVSI and Transponder have been posted to AVSIM's library: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=33281&CatID=Root. If you downloaded prior to now, 15 July 2003, 1800Z, you have the old version. This fixes the interference with 767PIC's cursor hands on the clock, EHSI controls, etc., and the frame shading issue when switching between full-screen and windowed mode, during the day, with the panel flood light off.Sorry for the inconvenience.Lee Hetherington (KBED)

I would like to encourage the participants in this forum to learn how to pilot and navigate effectively and efficiently and sharpen their already acquired skills in the two weeks before FS2004 hits the shelves.New to FS as of FS98 and to AVSIM in November '02, I am an avid browser of the library and this forum and will continue to frequent them, but I have weeded through my hangar and am only allowing a select, elite remnant that I wish to learn to fly well. I have done this in the past, only to yet again fall prey to the calling of the delightful, alluring library. In the next two weeks, though, I'm focusing on learning anew to fly aircraft by the numbers and as best I c…

Hi 3Green, I believe you have the right approach, namely modifying the required config files. Because this is off topic to your original post, I thought it best to start a new thread.First, let me say thanks for responding to my question in the other thread. In answer to the questions you asked there the answers are:1. Yes, it's the default Corsair. 2. Yes, I've edited config files many times before. I wasn't sure that would be the appoach here. The problem with this issue is that I'm not sure of all the portions of which [windows]to copy from which plane. Based upon your comment, I was able to get the Cessna 172 Radio stack to display by copying its Panel folder,[Window01…

Ok, I am trying to learn basic instrument flying (VOR's, etc.) by taking some of the offered FS2002 lessons, as well as reading the ground school portions. I am going to take a flight from my home airport to Dubuque, IA, to test out my new knowledge, and see if I am doing things right. But I need an approach chart for Dubuque :- . Can anyone tell me where I can get these approach charts, like the Jeppessen SIMCharts, so that I know the minimum approach altitudes, ATC frequencies, etc.? Can I get them for free, or do I need to pay. The airport code, just in case, is KDBQ. Thank you in advance.

Hey guys..I was just wondering what the ideal landing vertical speed is, so you don't bounce but also it's not really a hard landing. I've been flyin the 767 and according to FS flight tracker they have been anywhere from -65fpm to -270fpm, mostly around -140fpm. Are these stats okay? It doesn't seem like I am landing hard, but when I exceed 200fpm sometimes it does. I was wondering how it differs, if it does, with a 767/747 and different kinds of planes.-Justin

Hello all and thanks a lot for everyone's report and especially thanks to Edmundo from http://pwp.netcabo.pt/ega for a great idea on problem solution. Also thanks to everyone for patience and i have good news for everyone as well. With help of guys from Avsim forums i have been able to identify the problem with the current panel. But the good news is that there is a solution to it.The problems seems to be with one of the gauges on the panel.Now... the crashes only happen on some NVIDIA systems when the A340 is loaded in the spot view. Therefore, the intermediate solution to the problem is to load the aircraft from the PANEL view only and then switch to spot or tower or VC if…

I am amongst the many that are eagerly awaiting COF. I have a few questions I would be curious to know the answer of before hand though:Has the night viewing distance been improved? It has been in the past that you would have to be within 17 miles (or so) to even see the runway lights at an airport even on 100% vis. Has it been lengthened out to a more realistic, say, 25 or even 30 miles?Do you have the default fictional airlines or can you change it to real world ones? Are the AI flights editable? With regards to the weather, I know there has been some explaination on this but I would like some clarification. Lets say your default airport has partly cloudy skies, but a wea…

I am constantly reading various complaints about FS, with people basically making out that MS is a greedy, laxy money grabbibf firm, who exploits all of us.I would just like to point out that the way Ms supports the FS series is way better than the majoirty of games on the market. Remeber that FS is just a game, and the amount of detail in it is astounding. For fifty bucks you get a piece of software that will last you for at least two years. What other game can you say that about? And the fact the MS actually takes its customers feedback into account, when building a new version just shows that they do actually care. People should take a steo back and realise that without …

I was happily flying last week on MSFS2002. Tried to fly today and get an error message onthe initial splash screen sayingFlight simulator has detected 3rd party software etc. Do you want to install the following software? It then shows only the file name ''Traffic.dll'If I choose yes it closes FS and returns me to my desktopIf I chose no it does the same.I have uninstalled FS and re installed.Still the same. I uninstalled and also deleted all the third party files then re installed and it did the same. I am at my wits end, has anyone any ideas what might be going on, but even better how to get into FS2002 again !!!?Any help would be very much appreciated.ThanksJW

Hello I'm having problem with FS always producing aircraft rumbling sound althought the aircraft doesn't move. The problem occurs while I use the following aircraft DF Archer, Realair's SF260, Realair's C172. Is it something to do with FSsound.dll?

I realize there are many design forums here and this is where this post really belongs, but this sort of spans them all, thus I'm posting here.Have any of you good scenery or aircraft designers out there tried out Paint Shop Pro 8? I got mine a week ago, and IMHO it is a complete disaster :-fume! Very little is where it was, the help files for items that have changed don't reference where anything WAS (in fact, the help file is a misnomer), what used to take 1 click now takes 2 or more, and even drawing a straight line has become a headache. For example, there used to be a menu item at the top entitled Masks. Now you can find mask access under EITHER Layers or Selections…

Hey Y'all - I am wondering (and I'm sure you are too): What do the Non-Detailed Airports look like in FS2004? Soes anyone have any information or can even better post some screen shots of some of the Non-Detailed Airports, KEWR, KLGA, KPIT, KPBI, KMCO -- Just to name a few. I know they all airports have taxi signs, which sounds really nice but how about Airline names on cargo terminals (as pictured in some DFW shots). At LGA can u see the famous sign saying Welcome to NY which is on the side of the RW? Thanks in advance for all your input and screen shots. Thanks again

Hi allI've just d/l the Aerodesign A340, the base exe, MDL patch, Virgin livery, installed the programs in the order as instructed, and fired up FS. Fs loads fine but as soon as i choose the A340, either the "house" colour scheme or the "virgin" livery FS crashes with the screen going black while things are trying to load, and then the normal error message.Does this a/c REALLY SUCK the power THAT MUCH! from FS, that the whole thing just crashes completely? My system spec:Athlon 2100XP512MB 2700DDR RAMGf3 Ti 50060GB HDI'd really like to get this a/c up and running but, with the current situation.. er.... NOPE!Help would be much appreciatedWill

Hey all!I am likely purchasing a Cessna 152 or Piper 140 in the RW in August to tide me over until I can afford a 60's-70's model Cherokee Six. My question is, are the flight dynamics of the 152 similar to the real version in terms of power? Needless to say I don't want to purchase a plane that climbs at 500 fpm with two passengers in the summer, because that is not realistic. Does it perform like a two seater with a 110 hp engine or a four seater with a 160 hp engine? It should climb like the former or it is not accurate.
