Hi guys!I was wondering...why we can't have a flight simulator that comes with everything "preset" as a "Nintendo" or "Sega" game boxes?With every new release of FS, we spent months just finding the way to improve performance, updating video cards, changing computers, asking,wondering,trying to figure out this or that!...Sometimes I feel that we are the real "engineers" of every new version of FS. We make them work, updating PC's, Specs, etc... Don't get me wrong..I am a big FS fan since FS 95 days..I do love fs98, 2002 and, "with some reserves" fs2004....but I would like to spent more time flying the sim and not testing the system. Just added my first add-on scenery. Rebooted. FS9 initalises, up comes 'Building database for new scenery files.' The blue bar zaps to the end - and I'm back on desktop. Happens every time. Does anyone have a clue?

Hello all.I have noticed that I get a breif pause (stutter) just before every inital ATC voice and was wondering if anyone might have solved it?Also I notice when I have FS Navigator's map up (using it as the GPS display) the sim studders much more then if I turn it off. Its like a rhythmic stutter rather than a random stutter. This stutter is definately linked to FS Navigator when it is displaying the map. I have the most recent FSUIPC installed.Thanks in advance for any input

Does anyone know if there will be a scenery for paris air show like ther was for oshkosh?And does eh paris air show only jappen every otehr year????becasue it seems that there may not be a 2004?

HiNow i'm totally miffed...Just "upgraded" my geforce 3 ti200 to a radeon 9600pro and to my utter dissapointment, i'm now seeing 5fps LESS when in spot view - from 21 to 16fps !!! with similar results in other views.Initially, the results were even worse with directx 9, restoring to 8.1 did "improve" things though.Though not cutting, edge, i believe my system is no slouch - the mobo and graphics card having full agp8x functionality.Any one got any thoughts as i'm now feeling a bit gutted !!!ThanksGary

hello, i am thinking of getting a new joystick tommorow because every time i click "Fly Now" on FS2004 my sidewinder loses all RTC tensionI have tried saving the tension settings in every way but to know avail... just wondered if anyone else had experienced this?cheers Dan :-violin

Im going to upgrade my memory from 512mb to 1.5gigs. I want to upgrade for other reasons and two 512mb chips were pretty cheap. Just using plain old DDR SDRAM @ 333mhz. 2004 had already ran pretty well on my machine (minus cloud and overcast issues). I had read that the ability to create a solid overcast in 2004 had much to do with available system resources. Will I likely see any improvement here?Pentium 4 2.4GhzGeForce 4 Ti 4400 128mb512mb going to 1.5Gig RamI had switched back to 2002 due to the overcast problem... Might this help?

When flying the 1948 Aleutian Airlines FS2004 Adventure I am warned that I'm exceeding the speed for the under carriage.On the right of the control panel are two lights. One reads "Gear Locked" and the other is "Gear Unlocked"Despite the gear being raised after take off the "Gear Unlocked" light continues to be alight.How can I lock the gear in place please?Cliff

Hi people!I'm having BIG problems with FS2002: load up any plane, any airport, any scenery, go into spot plane view and suddenly, after a few seconds, the texture quality plummets, and goes into high-altitude texture mode. Minimize, to force re-load which it does but after a few seconds, same thing! I'm using Active-Camera 2002 1.1 PSS Airbus mostly. Anyone know what's up? Does the rate of weather change slider really do anything? I see no difference no matter where I set it (no change---extreme). The weather and visibility changes instantly from one reporting station area to another. I have not seen realistic gradual changes from one area to another since FS5! If a third party product is required to get this effect correct, what would be the best one out there? Thx

Hi there, I have just purchased a set of Logitech Z640's and am very happy with them. Hi all,Starting FS2004 (FS9) motivates FS9 to complete installation etc. every time! I get every start the messages that it completes the installation and recreates the scenery index etc. (translated from German into English the messages meaning).So, does anyone know how to end these repeative actions of FS9 to a clean start? Where is the problem why it does it this way???

I dont know about any of you guys, but I am sick and tired of payware add-ons bugs slipping through the testing phase. Granted, there will always be problems, they cant replicate everyones system, and nothing is perfect. But to me, it seems like the testing of payware products is almost nonexistent. Awful framerates, crashes, missing nav data, missing textures, broken installers, screwed up airfiles, and many other bugs. I am not anti payware, in fact I love payware because they are usually very realistic products and the author's deserve the small amount we pay. I read many who write this in posts to various threads.I propose the MS Flight Simulator series is NOT a game, it is an industry.Consider companies who produce a range of products such as Dreamfleet, PSS, Wilco, Go Flight, CH Products, Vmax, Precision Flight Controls and many others, all able to market products based on the architecture of FS. I seem to remember there is a limit to the number of scenery entries in the FS2002 scenery library, if this is correct can someone remind me what the limit is please?TIA

Greetings,Sticking with fs2002 a while longer...but have learned a lot from all the texture tweak info posted regarding 2004. Does anyone know a cfg tweak which will cause major downtown buildings to light up further away than default. I fly a lot out of chicago, and while the city looks great a night with fsw nightlighing, the downtown highrises only light up if you pass very close....any ideas appreciated.Regards,

I have pre-ordered FS9 at AVSIM Store (order number 6907) and I'm still waiting for the delivery.
