I'm still comparing whether MS's default real weather routine or ActiveSky yields better results, and while doing so I noticed something odd. When I tried FS9's built-in weather routine I will always be presented with the same weather parameters on starting a flight - meaning wind from 220-ish degrees, 989 millibars pressure and cumulus clouds, and while in flight I have a feeling as the weather routine does not download updated weather information every 15 minutes, although, in fact, I do use exactly this option.Do any of you know why this might be occurring?EDIT: I should add that I did try emptying my Temporary Internet Files folder as per the FAQ at the top of this fo…

I would like to say sorry to the developers of the PICv2 team for the grave misunderstanding on my part. I didn't realize there was a PIC forum on this website and all the information about the new PIC was contained therein. I always go straight to this or the Wilco's forum (when I'm looking for information concerning Wilco releases). I don't know how I've overlooked the PIC forum for so long. Anyway many have posted comments on the new PIC that will be coming out and I thought it was all speculation. I posted a comment naively thinking Wilco was still involved. I didn't realize all I had to do was go to the forum here at Avsim and read all about it. Guess I got eg…

I would like to inform everyone that there is now a repaint of the PA A320 in a jetBlue livery. I personally asked the author to repaint the A320 and he did so with no problems. I hope everyone is greatful because it looks wonderful. You can find the aircraft on AVSIM under FS02, but it will work for FS04. I uploaded a picture and hopefully it worked. One more thing I would like to say. If people respond to this post then I will let you all in on some outstanding jetBlue news! Thank You, Aaron Ricchio

Guys, I need some serious help here. I'm having some major problems with ACOF. I just got it a couple of day, love it to death, but it's getting on my nerves. In any payware plane (PSS A330/A340, PMDG 737), I'm experience the stuff in the subject. At first the sound is good, but as soon as I switch to spot view there goes the static. In regards to the panel flashing, it happens. I'm new to all of this flight sim stuff, so I need you to bear with me and take it slow. These are my settings:Windows XP HomePentium 4 1.60 GHz256 MB of RAMNvidia GeForce 4 MMX 440

Is it necessary to copy the FSsound.dll file in FS2k2 to FS9?I am trying to make a panel work that I used in FS2k2.I see another FSSOUND.dll in the modules folder.I think it was the module folder. Thanks,Ron
-
Please forgive me, for I am new to this forum. I have a question that I hope someone can answer.I recently downloaded some add-on panels that require FSSound.dll. I did everything I was supposed to do...copy the .dll to the Modules folder, edit the fs9.cfg with {OLDMODULES} and added FSSound.dll=1, and put it at the end of the .cfg file. I also have the latest DirectX version (9b). I did all of these things. But when I try to fly a plane with the new panel, I hear an ambient hiss and crackling sound. When I switch viewpoints (to chase plane), the sound becomes so distorted as to render it inaudible. It sounds like and am radio station in a thunderstorm. When I wen…

Does anyone know where I can find a better DC3 VC?I know that Brian Macmillan did one with Trev Morson, but's that for Trev's IFR panel. I just want a detailed VC for the default panel. The default VC for the Dc-3 is blurry.Jason

Am I missing something here, or does the mixture setting on the DC-3 have

1. Black Screen when starting second party software and switching windowed mode back to full screen, or even just moving the window. I get the black screen with the flashing hour glass. The only way I can get it fixed is to exit Flight Simulator and then start it again. I have read several posts on this and tried the tewaks and they dont work for me. New video driver, New FSUIPC, no use. I have read that FSUIPC may be to blame and I am starting to feel this is the case because it only happens when I try to start FSMETEO after starting Flight Simulator.2. FS Navigator, A fantastic program but some issues with FS9. I get an annoying stutter when it is displaying. It is kind…

I bought all 4 US FSScene textures for FS2002. While I appreciate the resulting textures, and I am sure a lot of work went into the product, the prices seem extremely high. Folks should think twice before spending so much:1) It cost me $100 just for the US textures for all seasons.2) It cost $10 to upgrade between 2k2 and 2k4. I don't see any visual difference. I think this was just done for compatibility reasons. I wonder if I spend another $100 for 2k4, is there any guarantee it will work in 2k6, especially if the scenery is completely overhauled.3) Not all textures are modified. At least in 2k2, desert textures remained the same, and I think forest textures remai…

Last weekend i had to format my harddisk because i was getting all kind of weird errors. After re-installing windows and all the drivers (45.23) for my videocard i can't enable AGP in dxdiag. I didn't change the BIOS, so i don't think that's the problem. Before formatting, the videocard was working just fine. I had no complains about FPS. But now i'm only getting between 5 - 10 FPS because i can't enable AGP. Can someone help me please????!!!!ThankxMy system:P4 1700mhz512 mb RamGeForce FX 5600 ultra (45.23 driver)Directx 9.0bOS: WIN98 SE

I have downloaded the above patch which has a self executing icon. When clicking on this and progressing through the instructions it tells me that the set up is finished, but then does not progress to install the patch. When checking in "add/remove programmes" window, it is not to be found.Looking once again at the Knowledge Base article, it says to install this, you must log on as an administator and use the appropriate set up switches. This all sounds kinda heavy stuff to this poor idoit. Am I missing something? This is for use with the Windows XP/Home O/SThanks for any enlightenment given.

Is anybody aware of any web sites that provide locations of good places to do some sightseeing in FS2004?Victor
-
Those of you who haven't seen this yet, if you go to Flightsim.com's site, there in the news is a Handley Page Victor feature. You can download a .pdf file on what looks like a remarkable aircraft!Only problem is, it's a DIY kit. Please just go and have look at it if you haven't already. It's fantastic.J

I recently installed several new sceneries and then added them to the scenery library in the usual manner. When FS2002 reloaded the scenery, I checked the library again to see if they were there and they were missing! I exited FS2002 and checked the scenery.cfg file and there they were! Is FS2002 only capable of displaying only a certain number of sceneries in the library? I have about 300 sceneries in the scenery.cfg file. Thanks!Airbus

Hi There,Sorry to bring up the video card debate again. I have the money to buy one of these today as they are both in my price range. After reading all the past threads in this and other forums I'm stumped as to which one to buy?I was leaning towards the FX5200 but a recent review I just read has left me second guessing. If anyone can offer their opinion and advice I'd be most greatful.Thank you in advance,Boone

I did some experimenting with frame rates and memory useage monitoring.First I loaded up fs2004 and went to WestChester airport in New York. I was getting 20-23 fps consistently. My memory useage was 396 MB (100% MyTraffic traffic, Very Dense AutoGen, FSGenesis 38m mesh, real-world weather). Then I shut down and restarted fs2004. This time I started out at JFK in New York. Now I was using 442 MB of memory. But as I flew back over to WestChester, my memory kep increasing, and my fps stayed low. I just kept Task Manager running, and could see the memory increase as I kept flying. Finally flying a few hundred feet over WestChester, my fps was around 9, and my memory use…

I have recently downloaded the Airbus Panels abuspnla and abuspnlc. When I load them and run FS9 I get interior views which consist of the photorealistic and the virtual views together. How can I get rid of one or the other, I would if given a choice like to keep the photorealistic views for the 2D panel.
