Question. What I've noticed with active sky over the default FS 2004 weather is that it doesnt handle localized weather real well. By this I mean, if I take off from point a, and point b is 30 miles north of my with thunderstorms, and point a is sunny, activesky has a hard time displaying this distant weather. Flight sim's default real weather shows storm clouds in the distance, but active sky shows sunny skies until I get in the area of airport b.Is this a flaw with active sky?

Does anyone know of an FS2002 freeware aircraft/tanker combination that is capable of a simulated air to air refueling?I see a number of military aircraft with refueling probes - but are they capable of actually 'docking' with a tanker?Cheers

  4. Hi there,on a sunny Sunday Florida morning back in December I had my first real live emergency. This was my final flight before my PPL checkride, so I had to go with another CFI, someone I knew but never flew with. It's like a checkride before a checkride.Departure was uneventful and we flew from Sanford, FL (KSFB) out to the west to do some typical private training (slow flight, stalls etc.) over Lake Apopka. We decided to go up to 4,500 feet and start with slow flight.Just over the Northwest shore at 4,500, Pre-maneuver checklist complete (that

Hi, I have merged a Meljet 744 with the PSS cockpit. Now, whenever I do a landing, the plane "jumps" on the runway as if the surface were grossly uneven. My landing config should be correct: 25 flaps, speed as calculated per FMC (around 142kn dpending on LWGT), speedbrakes armed (extending at touchdown), ILS and APP mode capturedCould it have to do with one of these two things:1. just before touching down, I switch off ATHR autothrottle (to then put the thrust levers on idle, before engaging thrust reverse)2. autobrakes are on level 3Neither of these SHOULD have an impact, but you never know... ANy ideas?CheersChris

I've tried searching the forums to find out if this plane works in FS2004 - mixed answers (ranging from "its FSDS - it'll never work" to "no problems at all"). Since the last message was pretty old, I thought I'd ask again: Does the Yannick Lavigne / Fred Banting / Rob Young Falcon 50 CAEA work in FS9? Any issues/crashes (the software kind!)?Thanks,sg

  7. Since getting behind a router, I have not been able to successfully do any multiplayer FS2002 flying. I have not had any luck determining the ports that need to be opened up yet (probably overlooked this information somewhere along the way). Does anyone out there have a definitive (limited) range of ports that I can open that will bring this back?

  8. Hi....Ok, about video display cards, what to do?My System is actually an Athlon XP 1800+, with a GeForce4 MX 420. Really nasty card, since got FS 2004 it's really unacceptable. With FS 2002 it was still running under acceptable performance, but now...with FS 2004 I get even worst graphics quality respect to FS2002!!!So I'm looking to change it.My main targets were the GeForce FX 5900 Ultra, and the ATI 9800 pro. I was pointing at the GeForce, when I discovered that a friend opf mine with an athlon XP 2700 (or around) and GeForce FX 5200 had a serious problem under FS: 2D Panels were not displayed, not to talk about other little issues: when in Select aircraft menu you go …

Can't figure out what I've done, but I seem to have lost the ability to change the View using the Menu Bar. When I hit Alt, Views, View Options, FS locks up completely. Cycling through the views using the "S" key appears to be OK.Running Win XP, FS2002, PIC 767 and PMDG 737NG.Any suggestions before I (reluctantly) reload FS2002?Thanks.Cheers.Ian.

One of the best 757 panels out there just got a major face-lift (literally) with a bigger main bitmap, newer gauges and a tighter front view. Chris forgot the standbye gauges on the first release of the update so he made a fix. However, I am still missing EICAS 1 and EICAS 2 as well as the EGT/N1/N2 indicator. The original cfg called for an MD11(?) EICAS (gauge56=m11sa.EICAS,1004,685,70) while the new panel.cfg calls for what seems to be a 767 EICAS:gauge55=ID_767_EICAS1!ID_767_EICAS1, 1063,474,140,139gauge56=ID_767_EICAS2v2!ID_767_EICAS2v2, 1071,669,135Fact is these gauges did not come with the update or it's fix. Chris won't answer any emails. Anybody know where I can…

After installing CH products control manager I no longer have full travel on the prop control. I have recalibrated it and it works fine on the calibration screen but will not get full travel in either direction within FS 2004.I have even calibrated it not using full travel on the control on the yoke, to no avail.Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Gang!Is there a way to tweak panels so when entering autopilot numbers, like the heading, the IAS, the altitude, and the vertical speed, we can do it in multiples of 5, instead of whole numbers? In the current state, I can only set up my altitudes to be 1000, 2000, 3000, etc. I cannot enter 2500 or 3450 as an example. This is happenning with Marco Spada's latest CRJ panel update for FS2004. Any help is appreciated.Sincerely,Dennis D. Mullert

While sitting on the ground....looking at and hearing the raindrops is a fairly good representation of the real thing. However, in the air it is totally unreal. In the 2D panel mode the rain drops are quite visible coming towards the aircraft, which again is good visual representation, but as soon as they make contact with the windsrcreen it looks as if you were still sitting on the ground. In the Virtual Cockpit mode, you do not see any interaction with the windscreen at all. You see the rain flowing around the aircraft but not making contact with the wind screen. For those of us that fly we know that the rain should be streaming and beading off to the sides of the …

Im not usually a fps chaser, as long as the sim runs smooth I'm happy. However, as I have been suffering massive drops in fps in spot view just lately, like from 18/27 to 2/10 I've been putting the counter on. Tonight, I changed the drivers from the 44-03 to the Omega 45-23a. The fps went up quite a bit in spot view, so I'm well pleased with that, 19/27. My question is this-- in spot view, no weather, so I have a clear blue sky, looking up at the aircraft so that the picture stays constant the fps counter is constantly moving between those numbers, like 19-24-18-26-27-20-23 etc. I would have thought with an unchanging scene the fps would stay steady. Any comments as to whe…

I live in Lisbon (Portugal) area and I was used to seeing the Lisbon bridge in rather good detail under FS2002. Now in FS2004, and although the bridge colour is more realistic than it was in FS2002, it misses all the cables! Only the platform and the pillars are visible, both the main and suspension cables are gone.I do not think it is a graphics board problem.Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Has Microsoft delivered an "unfinished" work?Regards,

im thinking of buying the PSS A340-300. but is it worth it? how is the functionality? is it like the PSS A320 where nothing on the overhead worked or does it have way more functionality. and how is the MCDU, is it complete? how are the flight dynamics? and last of all, with patches does it have good potential?adam You cant truley understand flying until you have actually tasted and felt it.

  23. I am constantly amazed by the flight experience provided by FS2004 and its add-ons.I am currently enjoying FS2004 with real-world weather, with FSGenesis landclass and 38meter terrain, with the Dreamfleet Piper Archer II, and with CH Products yoke and rudder pedals. Sometimes I just engage the autopilot and then switch from view-to-view and marvel at the complexity, the beauty, and the accuracy of it all. Also adding to my pleasure are: AVSIM and its contributors, FSNavigator, and other aircraft produced by Carenado, Flight1 and Dreamfleet.Developers

I've been painting in MSFS and Sierra's NASCAR series for about 5 years now using Paint Shop Pro, so I know my way around the painting booth pretty well. Recently I've been seeing repaints of acft with 32bit textures. Is there a tutorial that anyone knows of to give an overview of how to paint in 32bit? Can it even be done in Paint Shop Pro, or is Photoshop needed?Any help would be greatly appreciated.Tim13

I saw the effect uploaded to avsim yesterday to make contrail approx. 50 miles long. Instead of adding a contrail= line to every plane, I'm considering just replacing the default effect with the new one, but I'm wondering why that isn't suggested in the readme? (Maybe it was an my reading skills are diminishing from reading these forums)Otherwise, is there an easy way to add a contrail= line to every aircraft.cfg automatically? Thanks,sg
