I am sold on FS9 (FS 2004 - CoF).I like it. I am having a fine time flight simming around the world.Overall I give it a grade of: AIt doesn't get an A+ though because of the way it handles weather. Yes, the clouds are magnificently done. Beautiful in fact. Except when they are in the sky when they shouldn't be. It doesn't get an A+ because of the way it handles visiblity. Yep, the old, "I can't get a solid overcast" whine.Look at this small picture (24KB) of a screen grab of how FS9 handles visibility. I know Microsoft can do better than this.Thanks,DonaldShttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/40634.jpg

Hi AllThe throttle on the Lear 45 has stuck to 00 several times during flight. My add on are Active Sky, "My Traffic" and the registered version 3.1 FSUISP.When this happens the winds also freeze even though I am receiving updated winds from Active Sky.Anyone with a suggestion would be appreciated.Tks.Kenny G.P.S. when this happens I have the Auto Pilot enabled, and IAS enabled.

There are none. But I would like for one of those there BETA TESTERS to come and try my machine. (FS9 is always full of surprises, never consistant).Especially the 3-Pers..to make my machine to operate as smooth as theirs!!??No offense, but I can have a half decent flight for 10-30 mins and then the machine bogs on appp. Kryist, I was gettin 24-40fps all along, even with the clouds...why the all of a sudden ..system bog..if it was hardware, why would it not bog right away?.MBWZA

In watching videos showing commercial pilots in the cockpit, they write down things in a log. I assume it is the time and location as the reach certain points along the route. Is there any where to down load the same paper work they use and do this? Does any of you do this while you are flying your sim?

I don't recall reading any procedures for ground refueling then getting ATC procedures for selecting runway, taxi, takeoff ect..Here is the scenario; After landing and contacting ground control, your given options to taxi to gates or taxi to parking. However, if you want to refuel you have to taxi to the refueling area to top off your tanks. Fine, I taxi to refuel and top off the tanks. Are you supposed to then taxi to the gates or parking for the sequence to complete before you can then contact ATC for runway selection, taxi, takeoff options? Is there anyway to reset the ATC functions if you elect to refuel, park there for the night, then come back in the morning and resu…

On my last flight a couple of weeks ago on a B747-400 from KJFK to EGLL I noticed that at 35000ft, with a 56knot tail wind (and I assume we were at M.85) it was indicating a ground speed of just over 600 knots. When I tried to replicate the flight in the the sim. it gave me a GS of 546 knots. Are there other components that I should consider, like out side air temp. ( in the sim it was -23c) Just curious as to why I can't get the same results.Regards, Russell.

Today I was on a flight from Copenhagen Kastrup (EKCH) to Oslo Gardemoen (ENGM).Approaching Oslo, I was instructed to land at runway 19L. ATC navigated me towards the ILS, and I responded promptly every time ATC asked me to either descend or turn. Then suddenly I get this: "Scandinavian 737 , IFR flight plan is cancelled, radar service terminated. Squawk 1200. Maintain VFR. Frequency change approved."The built-in ATC still sucks big time.I was ping-pong'ed between Malmoe and Oslo Center 12 times without getting any messages from either of them.I still experience AI aircraft getting permission to land or take off while I am still at the same active runway.I often hear this,…

Hi All,I have a heap of abacus FS2002 add ons and I am waiting for them to release FS2004 patches. I bought a FS2004 upgrade for EZ-Landmark and downloaded the free CL-415 patch and got the National Parks patch but does anyone know when the Harrier/Chipmunk/EZ-VFR/Helicopter Shuttle/Sky Ranch/Scenery Apprentice patches are coming out. They seem to be at a standstill at Abacus and I get a bad dll message when I try to email them on their web site contact us links.

The thought came across my mind particularly for more classic commercial and general aviation aircraft about organizing upgrade kits. I don't know about all of you RFP fans who enjoy punching in a maximum of 9 coordinates to have to do it all over again without the option of saving anything. I would like to see a much more upgraded INS that can handle 99 waypoints all storable and identifiable as routes.Or what about an FMC? It would just be refreshing to maintain an even level regarding navigation options. I do not relish having to downgrade to VOR tacking in a 727 and then up to a sophisticated FMC in an A320.Regardless I suppose I could get used to long overseas fl…

Hi all,As a new simmer (I fly MSFS2004, IL-2 and Falcon 4), one of the problems I have on all of them is lining up accurately with the runway during final approach. I can usually get down alright, but I wondered if anyone had any tips or techniques for lining up for a straight (VFR) approach so I don't have to go through my usual weave routine to get down!I suspect the solution to this is practice, but all help and ideas appreciated!P...

Hello!I'm getting really bad results from using FS9 with my new computer. Especially when I'm using payware addons. Even small addon packages. For example, I bought the package ESSA/ESGG/ESMS from Swedflight which was really really great in FS2002 and with my old computer, showing acceptable frame rates. Now, when I'm approaching any of the airports beginning to see the runways, buildings etc the computer starts to load/work like a freak. The computer sort of starts to "build" building by building. It all takes about 8-15 seconds when my frame rates drop to 2-4 and the computer "builds" up the whole airport and FS2004 freezes. After that it's all ok again. But then after …

I was just looking around the key reference in FS2004 and I found this gem:If you turn on Spot View (CTRL-Q) then hit CTRL-W, you can cycle through the planes within your range. You can then concentrate on one plane and follow it throughout its flight. You can also cycle the view of the plane itself (ahead, behind, left, right, etc.).I followed a Mooney Bravo to its final destination.I don't know whether this was available in FS2002.

Hello All,I noticed that they are putting out shortly the Pilatus Porter for 2004. The Porter reminds me of a few harrowing moments in flying which I was NOT at the controls. While at Korat. some of the Air America guys use to stop by to refuel, and occasionally, some of the other 'company' guys who were there use to ride with them on various junkets. If memory serves me right, the Porter at that time wasn't even certified to fly in the US, , but I can tell you this, those guys who did fly them, in and out of those mountain strips were some of the best pilots I have ever had the opportunity to sit besides . . . and usually they managed to scare the living *&%$ out of m…
