I'm curious (beyond redundancy) what function two GPSs serve as avionics in modern GA planes? I'm considering doing some panel updates to add the freeware garmin 430 (uploaded last week) based on the FS9 default GPS alongside my Reality XP 530, but I'm not sure what I'd do with it! ;)Thanks,sg(cross posted to reality-xp forums)

Can anyone help me with understanding .AIR files for FS2004?I have AirEd, but there is very little help offered with this software.Microsoft's aircraft container SDK for FS2002 has full details of aircraft.cfg, most of which applies to FS2004, but apart from a brief reference to .AIR files...nothing!Help, please!David H

Hi,I've always wondered about this.If you're an add-on developer like so many and you charge money for re-paints of specific airlines, and thus are making money off that specific airline's livery, aren't you in violation of some kind of copyright law unless you have a license to use that airline's logo?Or do the airline lawyers even really care about this? Also, I've seen some payware addon stuff that seemingly take stuff right out of an airlines flight manuals, and use it in their product. Is that not a copyright violation? If I for example develop a payware addon, and include some, say, Southwest SOPs in the manual or addon, am I violating copyright law?Just wondering ab…

  6. I have noticed there are a lot of simmers in this Forum that have reported no problems with this nice a/c except for the fact that the panel can hardly be read.I managed to get the EFIS NAV and engine instrument to become active (using the battery switch) but no such luck with the EADI. The AP does not work either.I first installed the FS2002 version in the FS2004 with the exe installer. Then I applied the update as per the instructions.I seems that there is a missing gauge (the EADI)I have downloaded the files several times , unistalled, reinstall etc. and so far no such luck.Could somebody give me a hint or an advice on how to proceed to solve this proble.Gracias por ad…

I was frustrated with FS9. Crashes to desktop from time to time, system crashes with reboots, poor frame rates with add-on aircrafts (default aircrafts are OK), endless time spend to forums in order to find a SOLUTION. So far, nothing to get me out of this misery. What helped others was no good for me. The system hi-end, P4 2,66Mhz, 1GM RAM -333, 80HDD, FX 5200 128MB nvidia 45.23 drivers, 1024 X 768 X 32 on 17" monitor, Windows Xp Pro

I have always had a problem with FS 2004 In relation to poor frame rates when using add on aircraft, such as the Piper archer and the 747-200Through frustation I sat down and had a look at all my settings for the thousand timeI have always used the display setting of 1024x768x32, and have noticed ( as all of you out there would have ) that by lowering the display setting did Improve the frame rates but was never happy with the lookWell by chance I tried a higher setting of 1152x864x32 and bingo! you should see my frame rates ( my add on aircraft work so well now) all the sliders on max and smooth banking( I then corrected the screen size while In the sim, and there was no…

Hi everyoneI have a copy of CSI's wonderful A319 - which I got through a link at the screenshots forum here (I think - long time ago). It's a beautiful aircraft - that I've now painted in EasyJet colours. Thing is I don't know what ever happened to CSI - I guess other people also downloaded the Canadian A319 through the link so my question is: can I upload my repaint to AVSIM?I have a screenshot of the EasyJet version - can I/should I post it in the screenshots forum?RegardsAsbjorn

It seems that to see winds aloft and cloud layer information one has to select Custom Weather, load the local station, look at it, and then switch back to 15 minute weather. Is the utility to view the conditions in flight? Thanks,Myles

I've tried to land the Robinson on some flat roof bldgs at PDX and it seems they don't like helocopters..And It was a "soft" touchdown...I have the realism set for crashes figuring that otherwise the helo would just fall through the roof. (nothing solid)Can you only use roofs marked "H" ??

  18. Hello,I fly with AP on , when I switch AP off (mostly in final phase for manual landing) the aircraft stalls, some times it goes down very fast, very difficult to recover. I have this reaction with all aircrafts.Do you have the same?Any suggestion? Thanks in advance

Hi,When a gauge is placed on a panel and it overlaps a portion of another gauge, how is the level priority determined? How can I place an overlapping gauge in front of another gauge? I placed a gauge on top of a larger gauge and it came out behind the gauge. I couldn't see any place to specify this ordering in the panel.cfg file. Thanks,

Hi everyone,Just to let those folks know that have my 737-200 panel, I have done some modifying of Richard Probst's 727-200v4 panel and you will already have the necessery gauges needed for this 727 modification if you are interested in it.Richard has done an amazing job with his 727 panels and version 4 is no exception, but I felt that there were some things missing that could be added even though panel space is limited. The way I did this was similar to my 732 panel setup. Basically I modified the main panel bitmap a bit and added a new panel window and as a result there are now standby instruments ( backup ASI, ALT and Stby Horizon)as well as a new gear section that i…

  22. Hello. In order to try and boost my waning enjoyment of FS2k2, I'm thinking I might tackle VFR approaches using Approach Charts/Plates.( I've long given up trying to get my head around navigation i.e. VOR, DME, NBD, KFC, IRS etc, though tackling the above may help ).So, can anyone direct a COMPLETE BEGINNER on this subject to a forum or link that explains the what, how, when of VFR approaches using these charts (or are they called "plates"?).As always, your help is much appreciated.CheersAllblackPS: Is it just me, or are the forums at the "other" site much easier to read??

Hi all,Does anybody know if it is normal for the trim control (numeric keypad 7 & 1) to be ultra sensitive? I find it very difficult to accurately trim the aircraft as I always seem to be chasing the correct trim value. The aircraft seems very sensitive (any aircraft) to small changes in trim. Many thanks for any replies.RegardsKieran

Hi,Please see the attached screenie of my 737 flight in FS2004. Low and behold, the mountain valley 'fog soup' effect is still present in this new sim? I thought this was fixed from FS2002?I'm using a 64 mb GF4 Ti4200 video card with 100 percent 3D clouds in the weather settings menu. Is there no way to stop this goofy looking, scinillating fog soup in mountain valleys when using real weather? Thank you for any insight into this.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/42141.jpg

Recently I have formatted one of my hard drives and installed fs9 on it. I also have another hard drive with fs9 on it and it runs tip top. Great frame rates (30+ with PSS 330). On my newly formatted HDD I am getting terrible frames in comparison (18). For the life of me I have tried tweaking fs9 and I can not obtain good frame in comparison. I once saw a site where you can tweak the registry but I do not remember where that site was. Can anyone lend me a helping hand. I have tried the obvious tweaks on this forum. Thx guys.Oh in addition I am using Tweak Xp program and I am wondering if I create a RAM disk drive and use it for fs9 would that spped up fs9 at all. If so wh…
