My hard drive crashed, and I had to install a new one last week. After re-installing FS9 on the new HD, I am experiencing excessive shimmer and sparkle that I never had with my previous installation on the old hard drive. I have an ATI Radeon 9600 pro, and an xp2700 processor. I tried ATI Cat 3.7 and Cat 3.8, Omega 3.7 and 3.8, also tried the leaked dell omega(which I cant access the 3d tab when I use dual monitors) and the shimmer and sparkle is the same with all drivers. I have AA set to 4x, and Ansio to 8X, and the box for AA within the sim is not checked. It is set for tri-linear. The resolution is 1280x1024x32, refresh 85hz. My frame rates are good. I have the mip ma…

Here are some problems that I need to get ironed out, and am sure they can with all the intelligent people here:1) Bought a new video card and installed it. Went from the default 64 MB in my Dell 8520 to an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB. I see absolutely no difference. In fact, my frame rates dropped and the plane studders and "hiccups" even more. I have 256 MB RDRAM, and will have another 512 coming next week. Will that fix it? What settings should i have my video card on and how should i do it?2) The PMDG 737's and the planes that I have tried are extremely hard to control while taxiing. as soon as I try to accelerate, the plane wantes to turn. I have to fight lik…

Soon as I heard the news about this release I knew I had to hurry up and jump on this opportunity. Seeing that I'm left with an A330 without a VC only heightened the fact that I'd better jump on this release. You never know who's the next one to get offended and ruin things for the rest of us. Hopefully unfortunate experiences like what happened with the A330 won't stop future developments from Posky that feature fully completed aircraft like this wonderful 757 (now if only I could figure out how to get these VC buttons to work...Smile..).

I'm wondering if anyone ever changed the engine sound of the 210 carenado? I love the plane and fly it often along with the archer from DF and challenger from fsd. But the engine sound, seems kind of, funky.. Lemme know!

:-wave Where do I go to tell FS2004 to link up with system time? I've gone to "General Settings," selected "System Time" in the "Time" box, and I'm still off a little more than a month in days, and half a day or so in time. I thought it was working when it was first installed. However, soon after that it jumped back about six months. Then it appeared to be ok for a while, and lately it has been off again. I installed "realtime.zip," thinking that would help, only to find that Real Time doesn't like FS2004, so that didn't help any. I'm sure someone out there knows what file needs to be tweeked to make this work. With all the downloading I do, who knows what may have gotten…

Before I download the POSKY 757, are you able to fly it in VC or are they just fixed VC textures with no gauges?

This link is interesting, and a good worthy cause too. This came from an item on the AOPA site. Although this is a north-south trip over the poles (in a GA aircraft), I understand that an east-west trip was done by the same person a few years ago.http://www.worldwings.org/Bruce.

Hi all,I found that several runways in FS2004 are bumpy (e.g. WSSS). I noticed that the landing gear (especially nose gear) bounces during the take off run, but insome other runways this phenomenon does not occur.Does anybody notice this also?japangg

Hi Everyone.Unsure whether I am making the correct selection in requesting a change in the rwy approach given by ATC.Example. Winds 320@15 ATC reports the approach will be ILS 15.Knowing there is a Rwy 33 back course I select this approach and appears that it will be the approach.Prior to landing ATC gives me the Back course 33 approach, but adds circle for rwy 15.I remain with my initial request and land on rwy 33 and I am told by ATC that I landed on wrong rwy and to clear the rwy.Am I doing something wrong.Any help appreciated.Kenny G.P.S. I am referring to FS2004.

The brand new "official" Nvidia drivers (52.16) work with the 2xAA and 4xAF settings that caused problems with the 4x.xx drivers in FS9.If you are still running 30.82 drivers on a Ti4200 (as I was), these drivers are worth the upgrade. Get them from www.nvidia.com.Same (great) performance as the 30.82 drivers, but no more need for Rivatuner..

Hello,I love the Boeing 747 (especially in real life as passenger on its business class upstairs :-kewl) - Although aged, it is still fascinating. Now I realize that Phoenix PSS 747 will not be updated for FS2004 :( That is really a bad news.I usually fly the PMDG 737, but I also want to fly the 747. Does anyone know where I can find a good substitute for the Phoenix PSS 747, which is compatible with FS2004?Thanks very much in advance.Nico

I have now been getting sufficient e-mail about my panels that I am going to release a statement to formalize my position.I have been a pretty avid user since FS98. By the time FS2002 came around, I had gotten to the point where I was spending significant time contributing to the community and releasing some things. (Go here for a summary - http://salasnet.com/fs/index.html).Unfortunately, any future contributions I may have made to the flight sim community will probably never come to be. Now, my contributions may be a drop in the bucket (I think that's all they are), but I am sure that some folks will be dissapointed to hear that I will not be updating any of my pane…

GunfighterAny help appreciated. Just upgraded to P4 2Gig Shuttle AV49 Motherboard 500 DDR RAM with FS 5600 256 meg card. FS 2004 runs very well, with frame rates 25-30 regularly, most sliders maxed. There is NO QUESTION that the better the hardware, the better the program runs. The problem is this - when I query the computer as to AGP status, using the MSI (card maker) display properties, I cannot get the AGP little squares to check, they just grey out. Same happens if I use nVidia properties window. If I use Rivatuner to check, it tells me that AGP is not enabled. If I go into the BIOS, where (according to the manual)I should have a category to choose "AGP Transfer rate"…

Hi folks,I spent a while last night fitting Nicks Jet Smoke to Posky's 743. Had done so already for IFDG's 767 and FFX's 727. A real pain in the bu** if you want to set it right where it should be.I was thinking, I could share the numbers for each of these aircraft if anyone is interested. Furthermore, it would be great if people who have already configured the smoke effects for other aircraft also provided their numbers. It would save everybody a load of work.On another note, I also spent some time manually setting the position and size parameters for the ND and PFD gauges of Chris Alevritis' 744 panel (no cfg editor). Now they fit perfectly and I ended up with much bigg…

Crj50 started a thread about losing his passion for flight simming (http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=121&topic_id=153566&mesg_id=153566&page=2). I must confess I'm on the very edge of losing the passion too. However, our causes are not exactly the same. For most who are not familiar with IT, the complexities of the platforms (XP, 2000, 98, 95...) and associated issues (video cards, joy sticks etc) has taken the joy out of this hobby, not to mention the increasing sophiscation of the simulation itself (autogen, XML, VC etc). Most people finding themselves fixing things than enjoying the game. For me being familiar with IT, it is not th…

Did I miss the second article on the AVSIM conference? I saw the first that described the activities. The second was to describe (I believe) what happened in terms of any FS2004 info from the freeware or commercial attendees.Dick KLBE

Hello, I run FS9 on a P4 2.4, 1 giga Ram, GF4 TI4600 with 2 monitors linked.I did observe that I had 4 display entries in my FS9.cfg (I think 2 per monitor) , here they are : "(DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA Drivers on Win2K/XP.0)-> Brakets replaced by ()Mode=1600x1200x32RenderToTexture=0AntiAlias=1PanelAsTexture=0TriLinear=1TextureAGP=0 and(DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA Drivers on Win2K/XP.1)Mode=1152x864x32PanelAsTexture=0TriLinear=1TextureAGP=0 and(DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600.0)Mode=1600x1200x32RenderToTexture=0TriLinear=1(DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600.1)Mode=1152x864x32"Yesterday I did install the new Starstorm Nvidia 52.16x driver version on my GF4 vid card and…

I've just had the most fantastic day at a very cold and windy Manchester airport witnessing the arrival and departure of British Airways G-BOAG Concorde. The airport's Aviation Viewing Park was packed with around 10,000 people eager to see the arrival of the world's most famous passenger aircraft. The weather was not kind with a cold easterly wind and temps around 7C (45F). However, it takes more than that to deter us Brits and we weren't to be disappointed.Concorde arrived a little later than expected around 12 noon and from my position in the Viewing Park I got a great view of her as she touched down on 06L. After turning off the runway she taxiied back to a parking posi…

I need help!I've tested everything that I can think of and looked through the forums in search of a solution for this one:I am running FS9 on a P4/2.4, 1GB RAM, ATI 9500 Pro, Realtek On-board sound, Win XP, latest drivers for sound and graphics. Plus, I love flying in FS 2004. Framerates are locked to 20 and I get considerable good performance when taxiing on EDDF, which is my usual take off location. Now, whenever I fly somewhere else from there or following every plane crash, the performance drops down to between 1 and 2 frames per second while I (the plane) am on the ground with at least one wheel, strange. I thought that it might have to do with the fx effects and swi…

Hi there, Usually when ATC issues your final vectors for intercepting the localizer, they will end their transmission with " maintain "X" altitude until established on the localizer" (FS2002). I always wondered if this was correct since I thought that your final altitude would be maintained until the glideslope was intercepted. Can someone enlighten me on whether or not this is a technically correct instruction from ATC (i.e. should it be "maintain "X" altitude until established on the glideslope)Thanks for any responseJ.C. Hi to anyone interested. First, to those of you having trouble with the S-Tec autopilot. You need to have the file "FSSound.dll" in your modules folder. Available for free from many sites.Second, if you want the standby frequencies to change instead of the active frequencies in the Garmins, you need to make a change to the aircraft.cfg of the aircraft they are installed in.[Radios]// Radio Type=availiable, standby frequency, has glide slopeAudio.1=1Com.1=1, 1Com.2=1, 1Nav.1=1, 1, 1Nav.2=1, 1, 0Adf.1=1Transponder.1=1Marker.1=1The second number for the com and nav radios needs to be 1, ie., "on".Third, while I'm at it. There was a typo in the installation instructions for g…

While on the ground I had ATIS give me weather on 'Lima'. When I contacted ground I had weather for 'November'. This doesn't seem to be correct if ATIS has weather for the airport on Lima then my ground call should be on the same page showing I as pilot in command have the current/correct weather information for my departure airport. Is there anyone else seeing this problem in FS2k4???Dillon
