Good morning. I used FS9's flight planner to fly VOR-to-VOR from KCVG to KCMH (I think that's Columbus). It had me use the 16 radial from CVG until a right turn 61 miles later to intercept the 94 radial from DQN (Dayton area). That was it; 70 miles to KCMH. So I looked at the map and saw that the ILS to runway 10R looked kind of sweet. I was flying the wonderful Realair C172, set NAV1 to CVG, OBS1 to 16, NAV2 to DQN, and OBS2 to 94. A couple of questions, if I may:- Since the flight planner didn't tell me how far I would be from DQN when I would intercept the ILS localizer (at 99), after I was on my way east from Dayton, I changed NAV1 to DQN 94 radial and autopilor…

I'm wondering how many guys would agree that we need a Flight Modeling section added to the MSFS forums here at AVSIM? With all the improvements that have been made in nearly all aspects of the sim it really seem that this is the one area that's lagging behind. Let's face it, the MSFS FM is getting pretty long in the tooth. Update rate, smoothness, adverse yaw and ground interaction all need help. Not to mention a far easier and better documented way of making accurate FMs. What do you guys think? Is this subject just as important as mesh scenery or panels and gauges?TonyDigital-Flight

There was a recommendation about this a few weeks ago, I think on the home page.As I connect at 56K, I thought I'd give this a try, but haven't been able to get it to work. Is anyone using this? If so, A brief idiot's guide would be very welcome.David

Hi GuysLove the great new water textures by Lynn and Bill. One small problem i have found with them is even when there is no moon and hence no visible light you still get a huge water reflection as if there is a setting moon.Apart from turning off water reflections i have found no other way around this one.Has anyone else found a solution so i will not have to wear my sunnies at night?Great textures too!!All the best

Hey everyone,I'm posting this here as it is a fix for a FS9 planeI've produced a fix for the missing GPS show/hide button and a MFD on/off switch for the Lago F16 v2. The fix adds a moving switch that controls the MFD's (and all avionics) and a click spot to show/hide the gps. They are both located on the avionics power panel (right aft console) as per the manual (page 25) and are both available from the 2d cockpit and the virtual cockpit. Some pictures and a brief description can be found (actually part of the readme file). The modification file can be found [link:www.ibsw08346pwp.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Lago_panel_fix.zip" ]here. When you download it, extract the whole arc…

This evening, just wasting a few minutes playing around with FS9,I went for a short flight in a P-51D Mustang. After a few minutes I spotted an AI flight ,a Kingair at 15000ft ,so I thought it would be nice to formate with him. This was quite successful (and very realistic)until I got a little to close and a midair collision occurred. What was so spectacular was the effect on my Mustang- going in vertically from 15000 in flames- trailing black smoke- flames streaming behind. This was an effect I'd never realised was available in such reality in FS9.Is there more.....?Dave

Guys n Gals,Im having a massive problem with FS2004, Sometimes and not always, and I think it happens after I pause the game, while I take a break, or whatever, all the Menus at the top of the Screen (File, Options, Simulator, PMDG) ETC all Dissapear and then I thats it, FS Will eventually Crash, or it cant be shutdown, If I open any windows it goes black and goodbye. I have spent soo much money on this hobby, I am serioulsy considering giving it up, Im just SICK to DEATH of losing flights Due to this, or my plane being thrown around like a paper plane because of the weather. All the fun has gone out it for me now.Anyways sorry for ranting on, but does anybody know how to…

Anyone interested in working with me to put together a boat load of AFCADs for a region of the USA or maybe select airpots in the USA. We could put together a project of California Airports or a bunch of North eastern airports, or heck do the big ones in the USA, maybe we could do it by ARTCC. I think it would be a great way to learn the new AFCAD and do some work with people instead of one's own individual work. If interested, e-mail me at [email protected]:-jumpyhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg------------------Kenneth WeikTWVA395 / [email protected]

I've noticed that pressing 'B' in FS2004 sets the altimeter to 29.92. In previous versions, pressing 'B' set the altimeter to the pressure of the local field. Is there equivilent functionality in FS2K4 or is the old 'B' key behavior forever gone the way of the dodo bird?

Is there a reason for some ATC flights not to have the full ATC approach instructions?I setup all flights the same way, with IFR as the default, but do not always get the instructed approach. I am going to major airports, and keeping all ATC communications active, and replying when asked.I accept that if I miss a communication that I am kicked off ATC and have to rejoin the world, so I probably have lost that flight plan. Apart from that I can see nothing else I am doing different between flights, and have even managed to work out Garmin for approaches and all that. However, it seems to be a random thing, sometimes all detailed approches are instructed, other times its …

Well, I did it. I purchased a Radeon 9800 XT.I installed it. and upgraded the drivers to the ATI website, version 3.8And I have a question...When ever I change views, either by pulling down a menu, changing aircraft and switch from FWD to LH FWD and by toggling between views (cockpit to VC to Spot to Tower, etc) I get several seconds of the monitor flashing between the old view and a completely black screen, a flickering, if you will...Is this normal for a Radeon? It didn't do it with my Nvidia. Thought I'd ask before I take this thing back...BobL

Hello,Could someone please advise. Installing on a standard WinXP home system, I'm seeing much improved frame rates. However I'm unable to apply the usual LOD bias fix with Riva Tuner, and setting AA in Riva Tuner to "forced" still results in having to switch AA on within FS9, which previous drivers did not need. I believe switching AA to forced before running FS9 results in better performance. Finally, the 52.16 Nvidia display menu fails to load with the message "catastrophic failure". There is no opportunity to manually set the LOD bias, without which I cannot fine tune the anisotropic settings. Thanks for any wisdom.Rob Young

Before I begin, I want to make it perfectly clear that my intention is only to gather information and not to 'stir the pot.'Here is an excerpt from the Project Airbus EULA:"Repaints:You may repaint the plane in a livery that has been painted in the past and present that the Project Airbus team have not painted. You must post for permission in the Request Repaint forum if you are to distribute our aircraft out on the Internet. You must send us a copy of your aircraft so we can post it up on our website."My question is this: due to the fact that the Project Airbus Request Repaint Forum no longer exists and that there are no files available for download at their website, due…

I am currently flying to Hong Kong ex-KSEA in a 777 and on a HDG of 284 and a TRK of 287. The wind is 248/25 at FL310.Naturally on a flight of this size, both TRK and HDG will change quite a bit. But in principle, am I right in thinking that the TRK is the crucial geographic line to my destination that I need to reckon on, and that the HDG is what the AP tells the a/c to fly to stay on TRK ?Appreciate any guidance, thanks!JS

Downloaded Eric Marciano's excellent A320 panel last night.Spent most of today flying (day off). Panel works beautifully with all systems doing what they should. They include PFD, ND with navaids and TCAS, engine/warning display, system display, Flight Management Computer, etc.Reading the documentation on installation is essential!Anyway, the panel works well with all nav aids, airports, TCAS etc. showing up on the Navigation Display (ND).My only problem is that when I load in a flight plan, the route shows up on the GPS display, but not on the Multi Control Display Unit (MCDU). I keep being told that there is no flight plan loaded.I'm running the latest version of FSUIPC …
