I'm going to be getting a new computer soon and in the process going from Win98SE to WinXP. Someone told me that "XP Home" was faster with computer games than "XP Pro". Is this true? Is there any advantage to using "XP Pro"?Thanks

In many of my aircraft I have a strange problem. While in normalflight mode (no keys or buttons pressed), even in autopilotmode (not touching the keyboard) my lang gear will deployfor no seemingly good reason. I will cycle it back up and a few minuteslater it will deploy again. Also SOMETIMES along with the gear cycling the kneeboard set of instructions will pop up.Is there some setting I have turned on I dont realize that wouldcause this. I have been using FS Meteo, Active Sky and Weather Centre and getting horrible wind reversals at high altitude causing stalls, etc.As I understand it this is an issue with FS2004 and there is no solution yet.I'm looking at using the built in downloaded weather, but when in multi-player I want to be able to determine the destination weather (to plan STAR arrivals and runways).In standard mode you can get the destination weather by tuning the ATIS frequency of the destination and when within range you'll get the update, however this is disabled in multi-player mode.Does anybody know how to get the destination weather while in multiplayer mode?RegardsRussell Jourdain (NZL007…

well i download the update, and after i run it when its updating sends me like 5 errors, then it said that the DC9 was succesfuly update, however i run FS9 selct the DC9 and saids VisualModel not found and the FS9 closes..what can i do?Thanks in advance.Greetings

Hi All,Tonight, FS9 decided to re-index my scenery files for no apparent reason. Normally that only occurs when I make scenery file changes and I haven't done that in several weeks. The only cause I could think of was the change from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time on Sunday Morning (in the U.S.). Has anyone else experienced this?Regards,Marc

I'm reasonably computer-saavy, I know how to set up my graphics card, and I'm just trying to figure out if this issue is isolated to my system.Problems:1- The "kneepad" becomes cluttered and unreadable when I try to scroll it. Hello all,Just ran across a cool program called FlightSim Control Center v1.0.40. It allows you to manage your FS autopilot via WIDEFS. Great for allowing you to monitor and manage your flight from a remote PC on those long flights. (away from the main FS2004 pc) There appear to be no support for this program and I'm getting a "runtime error 424 object required" error when turning on multiple avionics panels in FSCC. I'm running winxp on both PC's and FS2004. Does anyone have a fix for this problem?Also what simular programs are out for the external control of your FS session? Normal lugage doors = Shift + E + 2Big Cargo door = Wingfold well those options do nothing for me checked my assigments and yes I have windfold assigned and cant find shift+e+2 but when I press either one of them ,none of the doors open? anyone know why THanks for the help and viewing

Recently there was a P-40 uploaded to the AVSIM library along with some Spitfires. I downloaded the P-40 and am really enjoying it. However, the tires sink down to the hubs on the runway. I have forgotten how to eliminate that problem. Can someone help me do that?Oh, and by the way, I was disappointed that the paint scheme wasn't that of the AVG with the tiger shark eye and teeth on the nose that the P-40 was famous for. As I see it, our only real options for true to life AI traffic are: a) Ultimate Traffic :( MyTraffic 2004 c) Project AI (with modified flightplans and added various aircraft and flightplans that they don't yet have. I'm just curious, and I hope you will respond. What do the majority of you use for your AI traffic? I ask because I like the idea of thre freeware concept of PAI, but I would also like to add in some smaller regional carriers, etc, and I'm not exactly sure how painstaking of a project this is using TTools, and adding in extra aircraft and modifying FDE's, etc. All input would be most appreciated. about a 6 months ago I downloaded this 757 panel titled 757/767vfr,I think,,, and now I cant find it. The backround was an actuall picture and it was not only good for vfr flying but ifr also, and it just looked so good. I think I downloaded it on fsfreeware or some sight like that. There is something wrong with this flight plan, and I can't figure out what. Looking for some good copters to buzz around with in FS9 any good ones out there on the freeware side that would be recomended and work and have good options in FS9...Trying to learn the in's and outs of copters. And then the problem starts: which repaint fits for which engine variation. I'm not such an expert, that I know that XY airlines uses PW and not GE engines on its 747s. Sometimes airlines use 2 different engine types in a certain ac type fleet (e. g. I am working on a slightly more realistsic Lear panel. I am looking for a photo or diagram of a Lear 45 engine start panel...I can't find one anywhere and I am not sure of where in the plane the engine switches are or what they look like.Any info or links would be greatly appreciated! I have problem with the throttle on my MS Sidewinder Precision 2 Joystick USB. The output value from the throttle is not changing smoothly when I move the throttle but changes erratically in steps. This is obvious both when I fly in FS9 and when I try to calibrate.What conclusion can be made? Must it be the hardware in the Joystick that is broken? Or could it be something else? My current configuration has worked before without this problem.I use Win XP Pro on Athon XP 1800+ with 256M RAM.

Hello All,I've done a little playing around now and downloaded EHAM from the library. I noticed that having all those extra gates had no effect on framerates compared with the default gate/taxiway layout. This is interesting - in fs2002, framerates were directly linked to the number of *visible* aircraft. In fs2004, before AFCAD's release, I often wondered why framerates were pretty poor at busy airports for the smaller number of gates. I've now come up with a conjecture - the ai engine is performing calculations on both planes that *are* at the airport as well as those that *are supposed to be* at the airport but aren't.Compared with fs2002, fs2004 airports with a fu…

I added a few new parking areas and a Tower with Comm Frequency at my favorite local airport.After saving and starting FS9, the parking areas are showing up in the selction list, and the Tower is clearing me for take-offs.But, none of the traffic I have set up in TTools is coming or going.I have saved correctly (apparently), restarted FS9, even rebooted my machine ... to no avail.I'm thinking I have missed something in the "Read Me".Any help would be appreciated.Thanks ...
