Hey guys! After a summer off playing outside I'm back at the sim with a fresh copy of FS9. It's been two years since I last upgraded (my upgrade cycle usually matches new FS releases) so I'm ready. It looks like Newegg.com has the best prices, but before I place the order I thought I'd check to see if what experiences others have had with this vendor. Now it just needs to start raining so I don't feel guilty about being inside at the sim...

I just helped install fs2004 on a friends laptop-a system not much more powerful than my athlon 2100+. I turned everything basically up as it is on my machine on his-yet noticed that performance totally smooth-especially in turns with real weather on his laptop. There were no joysticks connected and I was flying with the keyboard only.I came home and immediately tried running on my system with my ch pro/rudders usb-small stutters in turns at the same airport-not as smooth.I then disabled the joysticks-now smooth flight in the turns-about what he had.For the record-I am happy with performance in general in fs2004-just get slight stutters in turns with lots of real weather …

I currently use a ch throttle, reverse thrust is engaged using the default F2 key. however, many of my planes refuse to cooperate with this setup. the pmdg 737 is one of these, upon holding down F2, reverse thrust engages for a second, if i'm lucky, then it bounces in and out of reverse thrust. in replays it often doesn't engage at all. i've tried using fsuipc to setup the throttle for reverse thrust but haven't been able to get it to work at all. this seems to be another one of those annoying fs bugs that are consistently ignored. what's your solution to this?Andre

I've copied all of the FS2000 Concorde files over to FS2004, including the gauge file, but when I select it in the aircraft list in FS2004, I get an error message saying, "Flight simulator has detected a potentially incompatible aircraft...", and referring to the "concorde_n.mdl" file (which is in the proper location also). If I tell it to load it anyway, it seems to be fine, but I'm not sure why I'm getting the error. Anyone have any experience with this aircraft in FS2004?Russell

I downloaded a Swiss Air Lines CSI A319, overall its a pretty good plane but it only has landing lights and taxi lights. Does anyone know how to get the other lights to work? What do I have to change in the light section of the aircraft cfg file?

Hi Guys,Im trying to set up my sim for use within the VATSIM network. I have all the software required, but no matter what I try I cant get any sessions to show within SB relay.I have followed the tutorial on VATSIM to the letter, it even tells you to set a multiplayer session up, and if the session doesnt show then drop out of multiplayer and reconnect.Thats where one of my problems starts. Every time I drop out of multiplayer the SIM locks up. Task manager says its stopped responding and I have to restart it.Has anyone got any idea what im doing wrong?Is there some port setting im unaware of?Ive tried a fresh install of FS9 and problems still occur.Any help greatly appr…

I've just returned to MSFS after many years and am having a great time setting this up now that I have a decent computer to run on. I was running through the lessons just fine until I noticed the realism settings were not up full, so I maxed them and since have noticed that the instructor voice is nothing but a faint garble now. Anyone have a clue?Also, are Simcharts by Jeppesen the best way to go? They seem a little pricey.

I haven't heard anything about the following problems that were widely discussed in this forum some time ago:1.) FFX DC10's extreme nose up cruise attitude. The same bird's ability to stay aloft at speeds below 120kts, fully configured for landing and with speed brakes deployed. Shift + E + 2 will open the forward cabin door but won't close it after that. Have to select another aircraft.2.) FFX's 738 radical positive elevator trim attitudes on landing ( I know Mike fixed the nose up issue but the high elevator trim is still required once you disengage the a/p and go for a hands on final)3.) I'm just curious to know how offset localisers and glideslopes are flown in the real world. For example at Innsbruck would you fly down the localiser/glideslope and straighten up at the last moment or line up earlier with the runway just using the glideslope?John

Hi,I've just purchased the FSD Seneca V. It flies very well. I'm learning to fly a non-virtual Seneca II and I find them quite similar. However I would like to add a DME readout to the panel. I have been using FS2004 on my computer since it has been out. It was installing fine the first few times, but now, it will not install. It stops at stratus_overcast_above.bmp (32%) and will not move past. I have no choices but to terminate installation or retry. Neither works. The only other time this happened, I just needed to restart, so the "orphaned" files could find their parents... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

For those who are curious as to what a turbo prop airplane in FS can, and should! sound like need to try this package. Once again, Oleksiy shows us what can be. Yep, I got the payware one, and I am a little bit tired of the 'thats the way it sounds in real life' and 'limited by FS constraint' comments. NO, this is the way it is in real life and screw the FS constraints - this is how sounds for turbo props are done. Way to go Oleksiy Frolov and team.The package and especially the sounds are beyond excellent - they are unmatched and I suspect will be for a long long time. At least till his next offering :-)rant over

I know that you can get add on mesh for FS9 at various resolutions.Just as a matter of interest does anybody know the resolution of the default scenery (lowest and highest)?Victor

I have downloaded most of PAI packages and they all work great, but of course there are several airlines that don't have a package, and since I wanted them to be in the FS traffic I downloaded the repaints for those airlines. I checked then which planes I had already and inserted the new paint in the aircraft.cfg file, or in the case I didn't have the airplane I downloaded the Repaint kits necessary and inserted the repaint in them. Again most of them work great, but there are two I can't make them work. I mean, the plane is there, but the repaint is not shown and the plane appears grey, with no repaint. Can anyone point me to the thread that had the fix for Yeodesign's 737??? As it is now the plane sits on the runway tail high when the whole fuselage should be level. I remember sometime a while back someone had a fix for this problem.Thanks...

Just wondering has anyone opted to upgrade the FDE for FFX's 737-200 to FS2k4 standards??? I tried flying both versions, the YeoDesign's 737v2 and FFX's 737-200 last night. It seems the YeoDesign's bird performs pretty well in FS2k4 but the FFX bird needs work. I would really like to fly the FFX birds again in the new sim but until a fix is found either by me or others, they're hangered in FS2k2 for now.Hope someone or FFX is looking into this because the FFX birds are great freeware...

Hi,Is there any way to stop FS9 displaying the above messages and many more from the top of the screen.I have used the "HideInfoText=1" in FS9.cfg to remove the "Brakes" messages at the bottom but, the top messages are still there.ThanksTerry

After spending some time in England (virtually) I found some ports had an excess of AI parked every witch way, loaded really.Then I flew over to France, I am at deGaulle airport, a very beautiful photorealistic layout here by the way, and there are three (3) other planes besides myself, at 3 pm.Now I do have AI at 100%, and everything welse maxed too and am not suffering any fps hits (using shift-Z).ANy reason for this imbalance in AI? Are the AI blocked in England aws I noticed thay all stayed put?Allen

I'm thinking of upgrading my video card from a GeForce2 MX, 64MB SDram to a FX5200 w/ 128MB DDR, AGP(or something similar in that price range). I have noticed that there is a wide range of manufacturers and equally wide range of prices. Can anyone advise me as to your experience with the FX5200 or FX5600 cards with FS9 and why I should pay attention to who makes it, price, etc.? Thanks. GLBatRIC
