Most of us are fairly knowledgeable in the ways of aviation and a great many of us have real flight experience. But I've always wondered why a lot of MS painters lean very heavily on the obscure or recent paint schemes when it comes to GA aircraft. For example- the default 182. I was most happy when in 2002 someone made a blue and black paint that looked like a 1980 Skylane. It looked so much more realistic than the default one because it was like the ones I fly next to every day. It was only posted for a short while. Sad.This is not a gripe. I can't paint and I have no grounds to complain about the way the community paints its fleet. But I wonder how many of us w…

Technically Minded Sound Guru's please help ! ! !Hi All,I was told a while ago that if I turned down or off my sound hardware acelleration then it would make my Hercules Digifire 7.1 less powerfull, and in turn would take more power from the CPU, thus making FS9 perform poorly,I am confused now as I have just been reading a post that says turn it off, or at least down, anyone in here got any information on this subject please, thank you in advanceSteve,

I have FS Navigater and Active Sky 2004. I like to create my own flight plans with FS Nav with my own Sids and Stars, exporting the plan in FS9 format to import into AS2004 so it can adjust weather enroute. Then I can the flight plan enroute based on real world weather conditions as presented by AS2004. Enroute I'll use ATIS to check the active runway at my destination then edit my FS Nav accordingly for the approach phase. All of this works fine. As I near my destination, I choose the airport from the Nearest Airports list, and then get clearance to land. However, when it's IFR conditions, FS9 won't let me take off unless I've filed an FS9 IFR flight plan. So I import th…

I have a flight saved which I was flying an A330. Everything was fine before I saved it and reload it later. The problem is that, when I first loaded the flight. The panel seems fine, no problem at all. But after a few mins, I realised that the head/course and speed/mach digit change with 10 increments instead of 1 increment when I turn the knot... I have re-tried many times and the situations are the same. The digits change in 10 increments after mins...I'm using FS2004, the latest "un-registered" version of FSUIPC, and added "FixControlAccel=Yes" in fsuipc.ini as stated in EM's FAQ. All patch required for FS2004 was applied. So, anyone here have an idea what's wrong wit…

Has anyone installed and tested it yet. It appears to be another great contribution to our hobby. But, is it an improvement over any other LOD 9 mesh for the region, either free or payware? As I pointed at flightsim in another discussion, perhaps we need some sort of clearing house to sort out the flood of new software additions...this is no disrespect to creators, whose work and effort I respect. But, there are times when overlaps create some unattended problems. I guess this and other forums are the place to work these things out. This is not a rant...at least I hope it's not taken that way.Sherm

As with most posts of this nature, the problem probably lies with the poster, but I'll ask anyways... :)I've been trying to get onto the fsgenesis site for a few days now (off and on, anyway), and it always times out after about 30 seconds. I've tried both www.fsgenesis.net and portal.fsgenesis.net. I don't have this problem from my work computer, but I doubt they'd appreciate me purchasing and downloading stuff from there. I was wondering if maybe their server is having problems, or if there's something screwy (but affecting this one site only) on my side. Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Boarding a BA airbus flight from Gatwick last week, I noticed what appeared to be an extra screen above the glareshield, directly under the central windscreen pillar. Is this a new feature, or did I just catch sight of a laptop which the crew had placed there as part of their preflight preparation?I ask because I don't recall seeing this screen on any of the FS representations of the airbus.--Bryn

I have installed and reinstalled FS2004, but looking in fsnavigator or just going to these airports, they are under water or a little lake. In Fsnavigator these airports are also showing up really wide like 5000ft wide. If yours are ok I do not know what to do next, I have reinstalled my windows XP system as well. I want to verify if this is a elevation error.I checked these airports as well before installing FSnavigator. same thing though. Can I save the scenery.cfg and let it rebuild itself. If I delete this file FS2004 will not start.White Bear Lake, 7MN5 "funny they do call this a lake"CEDER LAKE, WI35PETERSON,31MNThanks in advanceVincent

I just upgraded my video card from the fx 5200 go the ATI 9600xt and I am very happy with the increase in frame rates in FS9. My only question is how do I increase the resolution greater than 1280x1024? That appears as the highest choice in the setup area. I'd like to try and run it at 1600x 1200 since the new card can handle it.My systemP4 3.0 ghz1 gig ramATI 9600 xtthanks

:-zhelp Just upgraded to FS9 and there is a problem with saving my previous flight. It used to be that wherever I left the plane is where it would start again. Not anymore, now It seems it only likes to save the start of the previous flight. So if I park out of the way and expect to pick up where I left off for the return flight, it starts backs at the beginningof the flight before, basically where I created the flight since it has never remembered where I ended.Any thoughts out there on this issue? Thanks in advnace

Hey everyone,I was getting frustrated the other night trying to complete a route for my VA when I kept getting a crash-to-desktop (CTD) in the middle of the flight. Nothing quite so maddening as flying half of a 2-hour flight 6 times.Well, I think I finally found out what was happening. My CTD occured as I approached with 26-28 miles of the HVQ VOR. I was flying a plane with RealityXP gauges (the GNS530 uses its own nav database) and didn't notice that FS2004 is reporting a duplicate entry for HVQ.Well, I start thinking add-on problems, so I start to fly default planes with all my add-on scenery deactivated... same problem.I can force a CTD at will if I fly within 26NM or…

I know there is a Captain Sim forum, but they don't answer questions as quickly as this community so I'm going to ask here. OK?On 727's while they are on the ground, the inboard slats are down and the rest are retracted. I thought I'd seen some CS 727 shots of the plane in this configuration. Can anyone tell me how to do this on the CS 727?Thanks for the rouge thread!
