I'm not sure whether anyone here actively does this, but out of curiosity i decided to overclock my GeForce FX5900 (128mb) to see what/if any difference in FPS it may yield.First, in FSIM 2004 I set up a static position with parking brakes, clouds, dynamic scenery, observed the FPS (15 to 15.5) and saved the flight.Next I downloaded Riva Tuner, and overclocked my GeForce from its factory defaults of 400Mhz GPU core and 700Mhz memory to 500Mhz GPU core and 975Mhz memory. A very significant increase mind you, and I did not just shoot straight up for those numbers, I did it by 10Mhz increments for the GPU clock and then tested its stability. It proved stable and the GPU te…

For some reason my contrails come out the back of aircraft and then the do a 90 degree turn and head straight down to the ground. I could be sitting on the runway about to take off and if an AI plane passes over head I see his contrail come flying past me while Im on the ground. The same happens to my aircraft, If I go to spot view I can see my contrail going straight down to the ground as I fly. Does anyone know what could be causing this? What is the name of the FX file that controls contrails and what FS9 disk can I find it on?Thanks all!Regan

Hello,Last night I downloaded the David Maldonado's Angel Falls scenery add on (from the AVSIM library) to go with the mesh I have installed from FSGenesis for the same area. However, when I go there I find that the bitmap (?) for the actual falls appears on top of the mountain, rather on the cliff face, and is set back a few hundred yards. Has anybody else experienced this?Victor

gentlemen, greetings!so i got ch pedals. cool enough. i kick them with my muddy rear paws anyway. i stick them under my desk and nobody ever sees this piece of work. i can live with that.played with the ch yoke in the store, too. even though i only own a common ms ff2, the spring action brought a gentle philosophical smile on my face. oh, well...so here's the question. if i really wanted a yoke, do i have an alternative to sticking a pair of buffalo horns to my ff2? any ff yokes out there? any solid, metal perhaps, yokes at all? i googled it, but couldn't find anything reasonable.throw me a bone.much appreciated.vilk

  5. OK, call me crazy, but I decided to "experiment" with some of the cloud and building textures in my default texture folder using the freeware program ImageTool. I noticed that a lot of the textures are 8 bit, which is fine for things that aren't really important, like generic buildings and such. But I also saw that the cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds were presented in 32 bit. Now, my system is below average; P4 2.53, 521Mg Ram, GF4 5600FX 128; so I thought that I might convert these larger cloud textures to DXT3 format. Well, when I did, the looks of the clouds didn't change much, but I saw a significant increase in my FPS. I demand a locked 30 FPS from this slow bea…

If anyone is willing to walk me thru that one, I'd appreciate it - I know some say it works just fine. I'm even up for some panel editing if req'd.Never found a Socata. Any tips welcome. And remeber, there's only three kinds of people in this world: Those who can count and those who can't.Best,sg

I have two add on aircraft that I purchased. The first is VMAX747 latest version for FS2004, also I just bought Captain Sim 727 latest version for FS2004. With both of these aircraft, and it appears ONLY these aircraft, if I try to change the fuel or cargo the game just crashes to the desktop. I've re-installed everything numerous times when I first saw this problem with the VMAX 747 but now I see it with the Captain Sim. Has anyone ever seen anything like this? With the VMAX I can play but just bleeding fuel, and using the external PAX loader, but I'm not sure how to do this with the 727, so I'm just wondering if anyone has seen this type of problem, loading fuel/cargo, …

Hi, Having tested this quite a bit (after a long flight in the PMDG 737NG that ended miserably because of no glide slope) I am pretty sure rwy 27, which is the most used rwy there I might add, has no functional glideslope in FS8 or FS9. Is there a fix for this the somebody knows about? I would really love to use that RWY with a glideslope signal. thanks,Mike

anyone know how to get the original ISD scenery files? The updates are on Avsim, but when you try and download the originals from the ISD site it sends you to Avsim which tells you that you can't get here from there, but you "might be interested in this file," which is empty. The update on Avsim points you back to the ISD site, which then of course sends you back to the Avsim site. Why is this so complicated sometimes.... :-(billg

Hello all, I know that this question has probably been answered in the past, and I've tried searching for the answer to no avail. I have imported the default Concorde from FS2000 into FS2002 with an updated .air file, allowing it to fly as it should. My question is, can I now import that same Concorde into FS2004?Thanks John.

In the past two weeks, Dell replaced the hard drive, memory and CPU to clear a spontaneous and random reboot. Before the repair, the quadrant worked fine. Now I can't get FS9 or FS2002 to recognize it. I loaded the drivers and verified that the folder Elite USB driver FA50 is in the FS9 root directory. I added [OLDMODULES] ELITEFS.dll=1 to fs9.cfg. I have FSUIPC v3. installed and registered . I must be missing something but can't think what it may be. any suggestions?Dell Dimension XPS 1024MB DDR SDRAM at 400MHz,Radeon 9800graphics,200GB HD, Windows XP home sp1

  12. I am a big fan of the Britten Norman Trislander and have many as authentic AI traffic flying around the Channel Islands.I recently watched a Just Planes DVD on the Channel Islands airline AURIGNY and noticed that the "real-life" performance of the Trislander is nothing like the performance of the FS model (nothing new there then;-)Has anyone successfully modified the AIR file on the Trislander (Marcel Kuhnt developed it originally I believe) to reflect real-world performance? If not would be great to hear from anyone who knows of some freeware I could use to improve the general handling and performance of this fabulous three-engined English workhorse!Adam

Did a short flight for approx 1:20 mins close to theend of the flight this message telling me FS9 hadrun of memory, etc. popped-up. I was at a loss forthis since my deck has 1Gb RAM and many free gigson the hard disk.Repeated the flight and halfway through I did acheck on memory usage and it was a whooping 730Mb and steadily going up. Then something funnyhappened, I minimised the FS9 window to desktopand then restored it and the memory usage droppedto approx 100 odd then started growing again.I've read some posts on this forum about memory leaks with AFCAD, etc. but since I don't use AFCADat all, what could be the reason for this? Does this mean I have to collapse FS9 to …

I am using the FSD Steve Small twins modification for the Baron and King Air in FS2K2 and FSCOF. The tach rate of response for #2 in the Baron is much slower than that for #1 and there is no replacement #2 tach in the panel.cfg as there is for the King Air. Should there be? Have I botched something here? If so, where can I get just the #2 tach gauge file without going through the whole download and install drill again. I am using a 56K dial up connection.

I have just upgraded my PC tot he spec below. Mboard, Memory and Graphics card (Geforce 5600 256MB) are brand new. Windows installed and working like a dream but....When I play FS2002 (and 2004) the flight usually pauses after take-off. The when it resumes, I get blocks or huge square pixels (usually transparent) all over the display. When I quit the game and restart, the blocks are everywhere. In fact this problem happens with a couple of other games (eg Tiger Woods Golf) - most noticeably after the FS crash/pause.I have removed and reinstalled all the latest drivers for the Chipset/Graphics/Sound etc but to no avail. What's more, the landscape is very "Shimmery" a…

  20. Decided to do some flying around Maui at Kahului's airport (PHOG)and saw these strange green "curtains" surrounding the airport (see attachment). I deactivated Bill Melichar's PHOG scenery, but the problem is still there with the default scenery. Other airports around Hawaii appear to be OK. Anyone have any ideas what could have caused this and how to fix it? Not sure if I changed a setting somewhere, but why it would be localized at PHOG is not clear to me!!Thanks for any help!Airbus

Greetings.A Pentium IV at 3.2 Ghz, 1G of RAM and a 5900 Ulra Video Card still needs to do the following to minimize blurry textures and red square pop-ups and even after that, FS9 still underperforms?1) Change Terrain Section-TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS:9.500000 TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS: 4.500000 2) Reduce FPS3) Increase FPS to unlimited (MegaScenery)4) Use latest driver5) AA = 4x. AF=8x6) etc...Why can't be disable the ability for MS to use the lower mip-maps? In return MS would lower FPS but it appears to me that FPS is meaningless in FS9 versus in FS2000.What machine spec did MS use to test FS9 and not have blurry or Red Square Pop-ups?Is it safe to say that WE ALL Experienc…

I've been thinking of becoming an aircraft painter, but I'm not exactly sure how to start out.I have Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 and Adobe PhotoShop 5.0 LE. I could use either or both to start repaints. I do have experience in dealing with graphics, but never anything such as painting planes in FS. I don't know how to deal with advanced things such as alpha channeling for example.I have done some minor edits and corrections to paints for personal use, but not much more then that.I'd like to start out nice and simple and paint MEA.The main difficulty I am having is finding a logo the beautiful Cedar tree as pictured below:http://users.adelphia.net/~nabilb727/MEA3304.jpgI could u…

Hello Simmers: I have been looking for a good freeware ad on to enhance the default FS9 737 in the library here and have kept stumbling accross references to Jon Murchisons "baby boeings" package. Is this freeware?... because if it is I can not find it in this library. Can anyone advise me on this package or another that will let me expand my liveries? Thanks in advance for your thoughts,
