I have an Nvidia TI 4200 video card. I find that , when in Fullscreen mode, if I try to change a/c, I cannot do it -- I have to go back to windowed mode to be able to change a/c.Anybody else experience this -- maybe a problem with the video drivers?Barry

Just got a new P4 3.2 MHz computer w/XFS FX5600 256MB video card - loaded up FS2004, and now every time I select a weather theme other than Fair weather, I get a CTD out of weather.dll.The status bar never shows any load progress at all before this error occurs. The interesting part is that if I go ahead and pick the fair weather option, the sim loads successfully and once I get into the sim proper, if I then press the alt key and choose the weather change option, it lets me specify any weather theme I want without complaint.I am aware of comments made by Chris Willis in a similar thread in late December regarding the need to make sure one is using 32-bit cloud textures …

Hey gang, here's a puzzle of a question for you to firgure out:Do some of you remember back in FS2002 (so long ago LOL!) when we changed our display command line in the 2002 cfg to say something like "Display_Nvidia_something_something_on_WinXP"? Does anyone remember that command line?Is anyone using this in the 2004 cfg?Is anyone having any more success with frame rates and smoothness as a result?Vauge question I know, but someone surely can decifer what I'm saying.

...somehow,somewheres I noticed I now have two .cfg files when usingnotebook to open MS9. The one .cfg file has "Text" after it. I think I can trash the ".cfg Text" file in order to prevent MSFS conflicts. Can I trash the "text" file? Should only be one .cfg if I remember. Also, thanks Allcot for your earlier post to my question. I indeed DID have one entry for the old card and one entry for the new card within the same .cfg file.Jeff aka MrMertz and "thank you" in advance!

Could someone please explain to me the importance,or otherwise,of having the the same videocard description on both Display.cfg and FS2002.cfg?I've seen the subject debated elsewhere in the forum but I can't read the messages due to extreme scrolling sluggishness. My system is: Pentium III 500MHzNvidia GeForce4 MX with AGP8X updated to the latest 53.04 upgradeWindows98FS2002In Display.cfg the only mention to Nvidia cards is "nVidia i128" and NVIDIA Drivers on Win2K,not my card.In FS2002.cfg under [DISPLAY] I read the exact description "NVIDIA GeForce MX with AGP8X".Is it OK the way is is now or should I modify and how?In Spot View my planes jump suddenly forward and then …

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been assisting Mark Dickinson with an update to a jet that was released here at Avsim not too long ago. Time was short, but I was able to add dynamic shine and improve some of the visuals.... It's based on the project underway by aerostarjet (www.aerostarjet.com).... Don't expect anything too sophisticated, but for light casual flying it's a fun jet to try out and it looks rather nice in spot view....Here's a link to Mark's site and the results of our collaboration:http://www.zeta.org.au/~mfdicko/Regards,John

Hello, Simmers,Using the Autopilot in FS 2002 the plane follows the course as set in NAV 1 not on track but swinging all the way left and right of the given course. What's the reason for this annoying effect and who knows, how to eleminate that ?Always happy landings,

It's seems impossible to solve the ancient problem of making SFF Pro 1 perfectly compatible with XP.I've not enough words of discredit about the behaviour of MS: the joystick was very expensive at the time of his release and their only answer to solve the problem with XP was to purchase a new Force Feedback Pro 2.Now they came to a decision of not produce hardware anymore, so, if someone followed their suggestion very probably will have the same problem with a new OS.A simple release of a new SWGAME version would have solve the problem but of course this is too cheap in their opinion.I don't wonder that Bill had come the richiest man in the word!I've read many forums and …

Hello! For all you Nvidia users out there...If you turn off the nView desktop manager while using FS9, you will get a slight performance boost and smooth the sim out even further. You can still use the multi-monitor features of flight simulator just fine without having nView desktop manager running.Turning off nView is the most noticable on slower systems like mine (PIII 1ghz) but may benefit faster cpu's as well.Happy Simming!Scott :-)ATP/CFII - KCOS, in the real aviation world.

Why is it that, with my desktop set to 1024x768 ( a ratio of 1.33) , my panels look OK in windowed mode with round gauges. But when I set my Full screen mode to 1280x960 ( also a ratio of 1.33), the panels look wrong with oval gauges??Any ideas? Thanks barry

I have Eric's great A320 panel working, have installed all the various bug fixes and updates. Whilst the Nav Database works and the data is displayed on the gauge, but I cannot get the FMC to pick up any of the Flight Plans I have created. Do the flight plans stay in the default FS9 folder, who are they required to be copied elsewhere? Thanks for any helpRob Payne

I noticed a very strange problem last night. In both FS9 and FS2002, the default sounds for the 747-400 and 777 have gone! In their place is just a sound.cfg aliased to the 737-400! I have no idea how it has happened, nor why it has happened in both installations. Is there an easy way to extract the relevant sounds off the disks, rather than reinstalling, and if so how? I am only really concerned with the FS9 version at the moment. Thanks for your help.

Hi people,I just purchased an Nvidia GeForceFX 5200 128 MB to go with FS and I was wondering what the best drivers were for that card and where i could get them? I downloaded the latest ones and i wreaked havoc in FS2002 but that was the only one available on the Nvidia site.cya!Matti

Halp!Installed my new GeForce 5700 with latest drivers and even though it shows under the "hardware" section in the "settings" area within MSFS2004, it does NOT show in the FS9.cfg file. It still shows my old card and I'm afraid that that's all it is recognizing so far as capabilities go.I don't notice any real improvements in frame rate at all, if any. Has anybody else experienced this? Is there a way to get it to show within the .cfg, or is it neccesary at all? I tried the little trick mentioned on the forum of substituting something like "drivers Win/XP" or some such thing, only to have the sim stutter and crash. Thanks people once again!Jeff aka MrMertz

Hi all,I'm helping a friend with FS2004 that I tried to help on the phone tonight, and I'm wondering if anyone may have an idea of what is happening with his systemHe has an Athlon 2600, Gigabyte GA-7VRX, ATI 9800 Pro (128M). It all stated when installing the game LOMAC(sp?) last weekend. He had trouble running it, so he called LOMAC tech support- who told him that the DirectX 9.0b he had on Win98 was a bad version, so he upgraded to DX 9.0b. Now he had LOMAC working, but the textures flashed, as they do in FS2004 now (on the plane that he flies, not the AI traffic). The tech suport guy told him to update his video driver, so tonight I walked him through updating his A…

I have encountered two problems with the autopilot (FS9 real air cessna)1) In certain circumstances the autopilot fly the plane so it repeatly stalls. This has happened when I'm climbing to a high altitude and in bad weather (turbulence strong winds)Is this like the real world meaning that in reality I had to switchof the autopilot since it can't handle situations like theese?2) When I turn the airplane by moving the bug I have noticed that an unc
