Hi all, I've been flying the PMDG 1900 for a while now and I must say that it is probably one of the more stable aircraft that I have flown in terms of FS flight dynamics. One thing that surprises me though, is that, when negotiating a turn ( either high or low rate ), very little rudder input (read: almost nil) is required for coordination. Although I'm not complaining, especially since it makes the aircraft easier to fly, I'm wondering if this is a realistic representation of how the real aircraft flies. Thanks in advance for all responses and commentsJ.C. It's more crowded here, maybe someone will lead me right. How to run multiplayer if the FS2002 station is connected to Internet via LAN gateway pc running Wingate (some type of firewall)? I know that some ports have to be opened in the firewall/proxy. Does anybody know concrete details, like which ports, what kind of protocol etc.?Thanks.

Hi all, I finally downloaded the much anticipated PMDG 1900 express yesterday. However, after much excitement initially, I was once again disappointed by the lack of realistic sound representation, specifically when adjusting the props from cruise setting to full rpm on final, and when reducing from full rpm to climb rpm after take-off. Because turboprops are the main form of air transport around our islands, I am quite familiar with the sound change when the props are adjusted (and it is quite a beautiful sound at that). I realise that this is a limitation with how microsoft handles turboprops, but I think it's high time we get a realistic turboprop sound representation.…

I got an e-mail from them last week stating they were making some last minute fixes to the KA B200 package. Does anyone know more about this as their site has been down for a little over 2 weeks. There B200 is a highly respected freeware project that millions have been looking forward to for a loooooooooong time.

Several weeks ago there was a discussion about the necessity to keep an AV active while flying with FS. The general idea was that it is not necessary to have AV active if FS was used off line or if the only connection was with the weather updates. And I tended to agree.Well let me tell you what happened yesterday evening.First the last AV scan was done last Friday evening with the latest Norton update. Yesterday evening after shutting down all applications and ADSL connection, I played a Pinball game from MS.At the end of the game during close down of the game I got a Norton message that it intercepted the "Backdoor Blarul" virus and had neutralized it. This with the same …

Hey everyone,Well here's my dilemma: I have a pentium 4 computer (1.2GHz I think) with 384MB of SDRAM (not DDR SD) and a geforce2 32MB video card. Needless to say, I'm having some issues with frame rates on certain aircraft, and I can only imagine what my perfomance would look like using FS2004, which I plan to buy soon. Before I indulge however, I'd like to upgrade both my RAM (to 512MB) and my video card. I looked around online, and saw the Radeon 128MB card available for a reasonable price, but it uses 128MB of DDR RAM - being that my computer doesn't use DDR in its hard drive, would be possible to use this video card on my computer? The website didn't specify the…

Hi guys,I've tried... I mean REALLY tried to understand the appeal of virtual cockpits. I've spent hours and hours squinting at their tiny gauges, panning around to adjust a switch (when I need to be looking out the window), and getting frustrated when I can't "lean forward" to look for traffic or a scenic landmark that is slightly below the aircraft. I have to admit that I just don't get it! I agree that the VCs create a powerful illusion of being confined within a tin box hurtling through the air - but from a pilot's perspective, what else makes them so wonderful? I've read countless posts from people swearing that they'll never use a 2D panel again and it completely ba…

    1. Has anybody else downloaded the 30MB-plus 737 sound set, and what do you think of it? I seem to like it. A nice external sound, and I can still hear in the cockpit (some other sets are near impossible to hear ATC).2. Has anyone else bought the A300 series soundset from Skysong Soundworks, and is it worth the $9.00? I'm using the soundset from Mike Stone's Iberia A320 (I like it better than PA's soundset)Thanks in advance for your opinions.Scott

Just wondering is it better to leave Hyper Threading off in the bios concerning FS9 or does it enhance the simulator's performance. In a day and aged when manufactures try to sell useless features to make a sell (MMX) that really don't enhance application performance, I'm just wondering is this another market hype that would be better left off versus on on my machine...

Can anyone tell me how to install these trees in FS9? The readme only has instructions for FS2002, and I never had FS2002, so I don't know how add-on's were handled then. I assume Trees_V3 is the latest and will work for FS9, as some of the available add-on mesh and scenery's call for this file to be installed. Will these add-on's work if Gerrish Gray's trees aren't installed? Are these trees better quality then the default? The readme says to delete old tree files. Are there any to delete in FS9 before installing? Where do I unzip the contents of SCENERY.ZIP to, the main FS2004 Scenery folder, or into one of the main FS2004 Scenery subfolders? Do I put the contents of FS2…

i've done my homework, so... let me just say that specific answers including fsuipc version will be much appreciated.:)does it smooth out weather transitions between stations? or do the clouds and fog still pop in and out when crossing the line? (i'm not too worried about the winds, a gust is a gust is a gust.)does it cause perceptible stutter on its own, no other applications running?does it hit frame rates in a measurable way? for the sake of the argument let's define measurable as consistent 4 fps."3.2 no yes no" is one sample answer. from what i understand, fairly close to reality... again, all assistance appreciated. thanks in advance.vilk

Thank you Tom Goodrick for the nifty little utility you uploaded. It's pretty interesting to see where I've been spending my FS time and the program makes it a lot easier than hunting down the individual logs.As I expected, the Dreamfeet Archer shows the most hours logged, but it's funny to see I've been aloft longer in the Wright Flyer than I have in the Spirit of St. Louis, the Vimy and the Vega combined! If you haven't checked it out, it's worth a look.BlairCYOW

Noticed something very curious with the new HJG 707.... Had a bad case of the "jaggies" on that aircraft... I've always used the default AA in COF, since forcing it opens another set of issues. And I started thinking--some aircraft had AA applied quite well, and others didn't. So I opened up the bmps of those which worked vs. those which didn't, and found that 32-bit textures don't AA, but DXT1/DXT3 textures do.....The flip side is that 32-bit textures take less time to load than DXT1 or DXT3... That blew me away, since 32-bit textures are quite a bit larger, especially vs. DXT 1. It makes me think that the load time is also related to the AA being applied. In FS2002 …

I don't get it. I update all my drivers regularly. Up until now-I had gotten good performance in fs by turning down autogen and ai traffic-turn them up with some real weather-great visuals at the expense of stutters.I downloaded a few days ago the latest via 4 n 1 drivers (Hyperon Feb http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=705) which I have updated probably 5 times since getting my latest computer 1- 1/2 years ago.Suddenly nirvana!-Autogen and ai traffic turned up-no stutters-gauge movement smooth as silk like xplane. I have never seen a difference with new drivers like this!Bizzare but I am not complaining-a new sim! Who to blame/praise?Athlon 2100+Gforce Ti 420056…

I did a bit of searching on these boards for a similar problem and didn't find anything, so I guess this is either a unique problem or one that everyone else solved a long time ago.Whenever I'm flying, I'll temporarily lose joystick control for several seconds, and then it will recover and start functioning normally again. This will happen fairly regularly, usually every minute or two. I've tried a number of solutions to try to clear this up. I've tried using a PCI USB card and a powered USB hub. I've tried enabling the USB legacy keyboard and mouse options in my BIOS. I've tried setting my USB port to 1.1 only in the BIOS. I've tried switching to about a half a doz…
