I loved Oliver Pabst's LEPA scenery for FS2k & 2k2 and would have liked to use it in FS9 but there are teture problems until Oliver releases his FS9 version. However searching the file library I found a texture replacement file by the above author.opabst-lepa-tex.zipThe reason for this post is to let evryone else know about this and to thank Matthew as he doesn't have an email address. If you read this Matthew, thank you. I have only had a quick look and it all seems OK, at least the taxiways and runways are now usable.

I was just wondering if its possible at all to create a "virtual plane spotter" either using one of say the marshaller figures (even give him a panel and sound folder so he can appear in the FS Menu at startup. Ideally, it would give you a clear ground level view in virtual cockpit mode (as like an aircraft, with no virtual cockpit) but would have minimal frame rate impact when in spot view.(A tiny human figure as opposed to an aircraft)I am currently using viewpoint, which is a bus (The smalles visual object I know of for spot view),set to a radius of 1m, but as its meant to represent a tower view, when you go to virtual cockpit mode, it is naturally from a lot higher up…

I am about to reinstall FS9 after some system changes. I've tried many enhancements to clouds, water, night and land textures; all which have resulted in improvements in texture and some in performance. I know this is subjective, but is there a "sweet spot" as far as texture add-ons for clouds, night, land and water (and any others)? Any suggestions much appreciated. I checked the Tips and Tricks forum, but couldn't see much there, as most posts are addressing performance issues.Thanks,Bruce.

  8. After spending big bucks on my FS2004 computer, my payware aircraft budget has suffered greatly and it is basically limited to one payware aircraft, at least for the time being.I have compiled a list of four FS2004 aircraft that may very well be the best FS9 add-on aircraft to-date.Here's my short list (in no specific order):+ Flight1 Cessna 441 Conquest II ($24.95 US)+ FSD Piper Navajo Panther ($24.95 US)+ Eaglesoft Cessna Citation X ($27.95 US)+ PMDG 737-800/900 ($62.90 US)OK, so here's my question to those of you lucky guys who already own the above aircraft. If you had to make the difficult decision of selecting just one aircraft out of the above four fine packages, w…

Hi,I'd like to enhance Flight Simulator 2004 and I'd like to collect your different points of view regarding FS2004 add-ons.I mostly fly in France and in Europe.1) Which are the best MESH files ? FSGenesis (payware) ones or Pietro MAURI (freeware) ones ?2) Which are the best textures ? FScene Europe (payware) or freeware textures available in AVSIM Library ?3) Is MyWorld2004 Landclass worth buying ?4) Which add-on is the best according to you ? Project AI (freeware), MyTraffic2004 2.0 (payware) or Ultimate Traffic (payware) ?Thank you for your answers.Hope these questions will help other people to choose their add-ons.Regards,;-)Damien BRUNET - LFQQ.http://perso.club-inte…

With the ultra-realistic virtual cockpits that are coming out for FS2004, the one thing this hobby really needs is a high quality VR headset. Could you imagine being able to look around the cockpit as if you were there?I'm not talking about technology like Track IR, but rather a complete headset with headtracking (ie you can look anywhere, including behind you).Does anyone know what the progress is on this type of technology? I would imagine the problem is getting the goggle's LCD screens cheap enough and at a high enough resolution (1024x768 min I'd say). AFAIK the head tracking technology is already available at consumer prices.TIA.

  13. A few years ago when someone made a program to install the "airgates" at a lot of airports,(for FS2002) the program just seemed too complex to try to figgure out. Then someone else made a program to do most, if not all of the work automaticly. By that time I had my Fs2002 running really good and I did not want to compromise the quality of what I was seeing on my monitor by the installation of this program.I do not know if any of these programs have been updated for Fs2004. If they have, what is the name(s) of them and where do I find them ?Thanks jerry

I have looked everywhere for a solution and nobody seems to know.It isclearly a dub with .net, but cannot get to the bottom of it. Anybody have any ideas apart form uninstalling and reinstalling .net, voicepack and windows??thanks, John

Does FS9 ATC actively separate aircraft in the air? While it certainly does on the ground and will issue a go around if there is an aircraft on the runway you are about to land on, once in the air there it seems separation standards aren't applied. Yesterday I was at the end of a flight in my brand new PSS A340-200 on short final to NZAA 23L and cleared to land when this Qantas 737 cut right across my flightpath and was then cleared to land on 23L as well. I was aware from the TCAS that this character was nearby but I expected him to be vectored away as I had been cleared to land. But nothing doing he just kept getting closer and closer. Also, is FS9 ATC aware of the v…

I just re-installed FS9 and have suddenly realised that most of my fleet operates with Ken Mitchell panels. I havent seen anybody praising this guy in the forums, so I'm going to.Every panel of Ken's I've downloaded has worked 100% from the off. For appearance and useability, they are unbeatable, and I include payware in that statement.I see that he has just released a 744 panel. Once you've got that, check out the 742 and 727 panels, you'll see what I mean!A big thanks to you KenRegardsAdrian

I am very pleased with the new GA-Traffic programme by Markus Brunner. Now I have GA traffic everywhere -- it is great trying to land in the middle of all those student a/c doing touch and goes!! :)But, I feel that (apart from reading the manual and figuring how to change various settings) , that there will be "tricks" that people will use with the settings to do certain things.I'm finding it a bit hard to put into words what I mean. For example, one question that I would like solved is the question of military flights, a/c and airports. So-- how are you all using this programme -- it seems to me to be about the absolute best add-on for Fsim yet!! Barry

  24. Decided to make this my next payware purchase. First impressions? Nice....very nice if you're like me and like to hand fly aircraft. Against the warning to 98SE users, I made the plunge and purchased the aircraft. No problems whatsoever... My slower system does bog things down a bit, so I've made two panel configurations--one with just the 2-d setup and minimal secondary panels, and the other is the full blown panel setup. For frames and sightseeing I use one, and for immersion I use the other.Only fly in the ointment is for FS2002 users--sorry, no go for you. The Conquest joins a few other recent releases, which seem to be compiled with the new SDK and model compi…

Has anyone flown Mike Smith's Aerostar 700 ?I think it is a fantastic plane except I have a problem getting to altitude. Around 20,000 ft. I cannot get any engine power, the manifold pressure drops, and so does my airspeed.I have tried adjusting the props and mixture, but it doesn't seem to help.Any suggestions please,ThanksSeth . . .
