The Sept issue of Plane & Pilot magazine has an interesting article with photos of Extreme Runways that take you to some backcountry strip. Their defenition of a backcountry strip is "someplace you can take your ship to pitch a tent, fry your own burgers, take a nature hike..." Hi - I don't know if this is the right forum, but I'm interested in finding out how one might go about dumping certain data from FS over time - For example, I'd like to open a flight saved enroute, let it go on autopilot, and record the frame rate every 30 seconds.I don't know what internal data may exist that isn't normally viewable.The main reason for this is that I'm experiencing gradual slowdown (I'm on an older system) until even opening a menu while in-flight takes 45 seconds.This way, I could let the same flight run with different setting and at least try to observe performance differences. I've tried to install the above gauge(atngau11.zip) in the Cessna 172, and then in the default 777, but FS9 keeps telling me it is unable to load the atn.gau from the FS9Gauges directory. At that point I have to resort to the Task Manager to end FS9.Has anyone installed this gauge successfully in either of the above aircraft? If so, can you post the relevant parts from your panel.cfg file, please?I know it has to be me. I'm always having trouble installing gauges :-(Thanks,Frank

Hi folks,Yesterday I downloaded the Dreamwings Fokker 50 and the beautifullpanel made by Espen Oijordsbakken.I implemented the plane and panel in my MSFS2004.Everything looks great and works perfect EXCEPT for the panel-light.During a night-flight I cannot turn on the panel-light.I looked for a knob on the panel but could not find such.So I tried Shift+L ( wich works on all my other planes ) this made the panel-light flash for a moment, but it did not stay lightened.Trying this several times , makes my PC crash.When I use another panel folder ( like the panel from the Aerocommander )instead , I have a Fokker 50 with the wrong panel, but with a panellight.Is there anyone w…

Can anyone help me locate the main aircraft.cfg file of fs2k4?I downloaded the simubuild a340-600s in multi-textures for SIA, LH, South African & CX, but can only use it in the SIA texture. The texture folders for all types are in main folder. I assume that has something to do with making changes in the aircraft.cfg file, which, I donno. Would appreciate any help to unlock all textures, thx in advance!

I read with interest the challenge posed to simulator pilots by UAL. What a great oportunity for those that can to show their skills and then attempt to reproduce them in a full motion simulator.I think the challenge would work in reverse as well i.e. real pilots showing off their skills in a PC simulation environment so we can at the very least get some encouragement.I also think it would be nice if AVSIM could produce some sort of video exerpt that those of us who live timezones away and are somewhat dollar challenged to download and experience some of the hype of the conference.Finally, would it be possible to video the MS presentation so we can see where they are comi…

I've noticed that the ATC in FS9 likes to give really low altitude intercepts for the glideslope, ie., 2000 feet or less AGL, and this is when you're in a jet too.How does the ATC in FS9 determine what altitude you should maintain till established on the loc and coming down the glide path?Why is it typically so low?

I am looking for the fastest single prop aircraft out there for FS9? I am hoping its close to the real word version. Also,for FS9, what is the fastest single prop aircraft that also has some stol features. Now, I realize it wont have stol features like a Beaver, (thats my guess) but with some stol features. If some are payware thats fine, but would like to know if any are freeware. Be it either or if you know of the site in the case of payware if you could list the name of the site, as well if freeware if you would be kind enough to share the site's Libary where you found the plane(s).Thanks.Mark.

Hi, guys, When using a more complex aircraft (such as the IFDG A319 or Posky 757) at one the Simflyers airports, I go to spot view, and either immediately or after a moment, after all the aircraft textures have loaded, the scenery textures re-draw themselves...but with less than half the detail! When I zoom out in top-down view, I also notice that ALL the city textures surrounding the airports have become blurry as well. This only seems to happen at simflyers airports. Is there any setting I can tweak to keep this from happening? It really keeps me from enjoying otherwise great work, and my computer should be fast enough to handle it...aside from that, I've tried messing…

Just thought I'd post this for those interested. I bought FS Water after reading some of the post here. I actually like this add-on. I wasn't too crazy about the wave effects because you could hardly see them. So I just reinstalled Vilks Vater over FS Water and it looks great. I get to keep all the great textures of FS Water and have the effects of Vater. Thes two add-ons look nice together... :-shy

I see Alpha Sim has been rather prolific in the quantity of planes, (mainly military), that have been modeled for MSFS and are currently selling. Some of them look real nice and I was just wondering about the quality. Could any one who as purchaed them tell me if they are worth the price.

I'm at my wits end trying to get Eric Marciano's A320 panel towork correctly and I'm hoping someone can help. I've doneeverything step by step as described in the installation pageand applied all the fixes in the FAQ. I've made sure thatNav Data is installed correctly and I am using ver 2.97 of FSUIPC.No matter what, the Vor NDB etc do not show up on the map. I downloaded a Tony D'Ambrosio panel to make sure Nav Data was installed correctly, and it is as the Vor etc show up on his panel.I downloaded the newest FSUIPC and used the free registrationcodes, but still have the same results. Does anyone know anything about the Manitoba sceneries that were going to be released soon?I haven't heard about Adam a.k.a "abent" (one ot the authors) since the realease of CYWG, I think he was going back to the east coast but I think he mentioned something about releasing the rest of the sceneries first, I love their work and would love to enjoy the rest too :-) Carlos.PS: If you haven't downloaded the new CYWG scenery released a while ago, do yourself a favor and go grab it, it's top quality!

I might consider trying any number of water textures, but for some reason I can't seem to run with water effects on "high" without a serious performance hit. Hi,Stupid question coming.:-hmmm I've been tuning the aircraft radios myself when flying then, by chance, I read something about "autotune" in the FS2004 Learning section. How does "autotune" work? Is it automatic or do I have to configure something? I read the section several times and saw nothing about "autotune" settings or how it works.
