I was looking at the documentation for the newly released FSCOM 2004 and it looks quite impressive, but also too ambitious. I cannot get any clear idea on how well it works and whether it delivers all the goodies as promised. Hi,Just thought I would ask this question.When I first started painting, I was under the impression that 32-bit textures gave a better "finish" in the sim.Now I know this is not the case, with a small amount of editing before compression, a DXT3 textures looks pretty much identical (at least as long as you don't get your magnifying glass out).Not only is the quality comparible, they are 4 times smaller in size, leading to less bandwidth for both host and client, and using less space on your HDD, and have a very benificial effect on performance in the sim.So my question is why do people still use 32-bit textures?Dan.

The intensity of the winds transitions is controlled only by FSUIPC or can you smooth the transitions with AS2004?It seems the only way of getting decent turbulence in FS9 is to have the winds smooth transitions off in FSUIPC. That can be a real pain when a 90 knots wind changes direction in a second and produces the AC to overspeed and overstress.If AS2004 controls those changes I might start seriously about buying it. If not, I guess I will have to disable the overstress in FS9 decreasing the realism in that case.Thanks,Leo

I just found out what program is sucking all my memory, and crashing FS9 after only 20 minutes of flight---Active Sky! Great...a program I paid for and can't run as it is.I would suggest that the developer check out his coding.I have 1 GB of RAM, and I get the BONG--out of memory ONLY after running this program. If I do not run it with FS9---I have no problems with FS9. I recently installed FS9.1. I go to start the game and it says, "FSUIPC has a problem!The version of FS2004 detected is not compatiblewith this version of FSUIPC! It is build 9.01.40901...You need the correct version of FS2004.Check the Help-About: the build should be 9.00.30612.FSUIPC will terminate when you select OK."After I hit OK, it says:"ERROR - FS9Flight Simulator was unable to load some aircraft or software. You can continue using FS but this aircraft or software will be disabled.File: FSUIPC.dll"An then FS just closes! What do I do!

Hello,My FS9 locks up time to time right before saving a flight plan (IFR). After setting the departure, arrival, IFR plan, and setting altitude, I click OK and sometimes the whole screen will just freeze. Any ideas why this would be happening? Also, it seems like this happens a lot when I just complete a flight and try to plan another flight. Just thought I'd let everyone know I found a way to have the best of both worlds with this freeware add-on. First off there are two packages for the Airport Environment Upgrade scenery. The original version was "Airport Environment Upgrade_MX" and the latest version is "Airport Environment Upgrade 6.06". Problem with 6.06 is the building textures are so toned down that you can basically see through the whole building. I couldn't stand it. The MX original version had some cool building textures where you could see shops and seating inside.Here's a pic of what I've done with KMSP using Lago's FSE and I still have great Framerates (no different from the default).http://…

Has anyone else noticed a problem with ATC vectoring your aircraft to final after the 9.1 upgrade?I've never had a problem pre patch but now, ATC seems to get me down to around 10,000 feet and forgets all about me as I meander off into the distance. Tonight on approach to KMCO I took matters into my own hands and ATC picked me up after I decended and turned to final on my own, only at that point did it start giving proper vectors and altitudes to final.I've not changed or added anything post patch.Anyone else?Thanks,Mike T.

I seem to have lost me fonts for a bunch of aircraft! I tried reinstalling the fonts from the FS2004 Source CD, but that had no effect. Has anyone seen this? And what do I do? Hi,I was wondering if anyone knows how to extract a flap sound from a video clip. Hello all!I have just installed the FS9.1 patch and now I would like to know how I can remove some of the new bridges in Denmark? Microsoft seems to have a very limited knowledge of the actual bridges , and they have planted the Oresund bridge between Danmark and Sweden in a totally wrong place. Evening all,For quite a long time, I've been using radar vectors to get me down safely in IFR conditions. Now as I become ever more familiar with the available instruments (including PMDG's FMC) I'm venturing more and more into the murky world of STARs. Following a star on an FMC or the Default GPS unit is pretty good, especially when I've printed out some STAR charts from one of the many airport chart sites indexed on navdata.at.However, I have a problem. The latest MD-80 panel that came out a couple of weeks ago (the full upgrade from the 2002 version) is giving me a minor problem. Every time I try to load one of my MD's, I get multiple errors that the ILH_TCAS.gau can't be loaded. I have all the gauges for this panel in the panel folder itself. Could this be causing the problem? I've never seen a situation yet where the gauge HAD to be in the main gauge folder. I even downloaded the panel again and coped all the gauges just to make sure.Thanks in advance!Scott

Hi GuysNow iv been useing radial engine aircraft for quite a while but my one problem is what exatly should i look at when lean the misture on on of them..For example the DH2 beaver what should i be looking at and where.BTW i have no problem with modern aircraft cessnas and all theat i know what i should be looking at.O yes it sounds odd that im asking but its still a grey area for me :)
