Hello Avsim friends :)I just downloaded the brilliant MD-11 model from Overland. But I cant locate any airline liveries for Overland aircraft - could someone point me to a site that does? I cant seem to find any on Overlands website - 98% of which (quite naturally) is in Japanese. Secondly for the benefit of other FS2004 newbies (and those who dont have this plane) I just want to say that this was the *easiest* add-on airplane to install because it is an *excellent* self-installer that truly does everything for you. Double-click, install....done! So thank you Overland for catering to FS2004 rookies like me!Thanks, and heres the link for anyone interested (its freeware) :…

I just read the 'other' thread and when I saw the new piracy reporting tool, I had my own opinions. I believe in constructive criticism, so I'll start a new thread for discussion. Please don't hijack this thread to a piracy vs anti-piracy discussion, but rather add some constructive ideas if you have any :)There is a point that a lot of people make (and I agree on), that developers can get too worked up about piracy. The bottom line of a software business should be

Hi AllI have noticed that on several occasions during a flight, that the program pauses while it reloads scenery. After the scenery has been reloaded the flight continues with no problems. Is it normal for the scenery to periodically reload while conducting a flight.Tks. for any replys,Kenny G.

Hi,Apologies for not writing this on the fscentre fanda forum, but haven't been successful in getting an account set up there yet so I decided to try here..Just a couple of small things..- Has anyone noticed this aircraft is pretty heavy on memory over time (or kinda has a memory leak??). I have installed version 1.04 with the fs2004 update and am running it on fs2004 with fsuipc. The aircraft works great (and is great to fly) but a couple of times now I've had big stutters when flying IFR and reaching my destination airport / flying an ILS approach. Never had any problems doing vfr circuits for an hour so maybe it's just the autopilot or something?? Anyone else experi…

I was tinkering with MSFS today and turned off filtering inside the sim to see if it would make a visual difference well what do you know...Not only did visuals appear more crisp, but I gained a boat load of frame rates even at crowded airports. For instance, at KDEN (3d party scenery not default) with every United gate loaded with non AI-only aircraft (lots o polygons and textures), I gained 8 fps to a steady 18fps! This is at dusk, with scattered clouds and about 3 cloud layers. No stutters and textures loaded VERY quickly.Departing KDEN was a "WOW effect" because the smoothness of climbing into the clouds was palpable and gave a very realistic impression. Once I got…

I know some of it, but can't figure out some of the remarks.UAAA 261500Z 19001MPS 1200 R05/P1500D FU FEW200 07/00 Q1016 05CLRD65 TEMPO 1000 FU RMK QFE703/0938...supposedly there is some smoke at FL200? What is the MPS after the wind direction and speed? Plus the R05/P1500D, 05CLRD65?Usually I get these reports but I haven't seen these before.:-shy

  11. Well, here I am again finishing my FS9 set up.I have one last problem. I have wxRE version installed in a secondary PC via Wide FS. I am not sure what happens but AS gets the weather, finds its way to the other computer (I had to write the path to the main computer in AS), installs the winds in FS9, but it doesn't install the clouds. I tested it with wxRE installed in the main PC, and my skyes are full of nice clouds, then I shut AS down and clear the weather. Then I start AS in the secondary PC, get the weather and although the winds are loaded exactly the same in FS9, no clouds appear.I tested it in all possible ways starting and shutting down AS in both computers and t…

Hi all,This piracy discussion brought me to the next question:In this forum we often discuss which aircraft is the best (GA or jets, or bizjets or regional or twin props) but never have I read something about how many commercial add ons, and especially aircraft, have been sold actually. In the automotive business every year figures are presented about the best selling brands and models, but in ours? Does anybody have an idea? Couldn't avsim gather and present this info every year? I would be very interested!Herrie

I noticed a significant drift to the left with the Flight1 Cessna 172. I have (Realisim) the P-Factor, Torque and Gyro set to minimum (full left). General full right (maximum). Used clear weather and no wind. Slew to 10,000ft and cut the engine. Allow to drift downward. There is eventually a turning to the left as verified by observing the horizon and the Turn Coordinator. Tried the same excercise with the stock 172, the RealAir 172 and the Dreamfleet Cardinal. None of these drifted left or right. Although common to all, I verified that my controls were properly calibrated and centered. If there is an "official" Flight1 forum somewhere I can post there instead of taking up…

If you want to read the review, take a look at it here: http://www.virtualflightproductions.com/in...id=26&Itemid=33 Anyone on this board that has used it, please leave some feedback in this thread for others so they can get the widest range of opinions on the software.Enjoy.

I purchased the RV-7 a while back and love it but I was under the impression that they were releasing the RV-7A soon.According to their support forum the RV-7A was pretty much completed (or close to it)and was going to be released after the Beach King Air....well, what happened to it?Seems like the only thing released is the news about them closing their support forum. Is FFS still even around or am I wasting my time?Thx

A couple of weeks ago I bought Eaglesoft's Cessna Citation X. But only this morning did I have a couple of hours to load it up in the sim and play around with it. It is, to be sure, a beautiful model -inside and out, and the vc views are especially good. However, (and perhaps I should have rtfm before buying it) I then found to my profound irritation that the fmc is practically worthless and only there for show. It's a nice bitmap but no more, meaning it doesn't have the more important functions of an fmc. So, instead we have a cheapo Garmin GPS that you can call up with one of the simicons. This strikes me as being an enormous step backwards, given the ability -as shown …

Fortunately I save most of my default installation FS9 critical folders and files before I change or add anything.By a process of elimination I have found what has been causing my problem and hope that it might be of some help to somebody else.In the texture folder there are ten "cumulus_XXXX.bmp" files. I deleted the ones in my folder and replaced them with the defaults and everything is working fine SO FAR now.In retrospect, it seems that these problems started about the time I updated my Chris Clouds, but I would not want to be hung for that. For sure I never had a problem with the previous version. Not bad mouthing that fine work at all, just trying to be helpful.I wo…

  20. I posted this in the AS forum, but I thought I would try here just in case there are any AS savvy people hereI keep getting visibility popping when at low (10,000-2000 feet) altitude even when visibility is reports at 25 or greater..there are low lying clouds, and I am sure I am not in the clouds...I will just be flying along, and then "pop" the visibility goes and the screen turns mostly white...then if I go up or down a few thousand feet it goes away...its most annoying because when I am sitting on the ground the vis looks good...but as I climb out it will "pop" into low vis...then after a few thousand feet it goes away...is there a way to fix this?? I followed all dire…

I must retract my initial observation that it was A.S. 2004.5 that is leaking my memory on my system. In fact, it is not.FS9 is!Active Sky sits around 28.8 MB constant. After further snooping, it is FS9 that is climbing in memory usage to about 1.78 GB where the XP BONG goes off,and the ERROR report says that I have run out of physical memory. I'm trying to understand ***WHY*** FS9 is constantly using up my memory addresses as it runs until that proves fatal....and the program locks up.I am using the FS9 patch and am running SP 2.Again, it was NOT Active Sky that was taking my memory down. Please disregard my first (Active SKY) post, as it turned out inaccurate after furthe…
