HiFlying at FL300 plus in FS9 I have noticed that my coastal scenery for the Dublin bay area and sections of the Dutch coastline are completely unrealistic i.e. sections of straight coastline with 90 degree corners to represent corners/ turns. Is this because the default secenery is poor (I suspect not, as my other coastal secenery looks fine), or could my scenery file(s) be "corrupt"?I have FSTerrain installed, so could this be the problem e.g. some conflict with the default scenery. Also, my scenery database reloads every time I load FS9 - I have learned from another thread that this is due to duplicate AREAs and LAYERs in the scenery.cfg - could this also cause my coas…

I'm posting this message trying to "catch up" on this aircraft. I say this because I am a "Johnny come lately" to the Fokker 50 by Dreamwings flight sim aircraft.1. Fokker 50 Aircraft: I downloaded and installed the Dreamwings Fokker 50. After doing so I discovered that it did not have a panel. ( I told you I was a "Johnny come lately" !!)2. Fokker 50 Panel: A search in the AVSIM library uncovered some panels and I ended up downloading the Espen Oijordsbakken version v3.0 and its' update - v3.4cAre you still with me? (grin)I installed v3.0 of the panel and then updated it for FS2004 by installing the v3.4 update. Is that the way to do it properly?QUESTIONS:The panel has n…

Having read Tom's now-locked "enough is enough" thread, the one thing that stands out is peoples' wish to post hardware problem questions on this forum simply because it's much wider-read than the hardware forums themselves. So, with the greatest respect to Tom and his rules, here's a possible solution.....Why not allow people to post no more than the question here on this forum, but only allow answers /comments/advice on the 'correct' hardware forum? That way, if you're browsing this forum and see a 'hardware' question you may be able to help with, bounce over to the other forum and offer the help. The problem's then solved - your question is read 'by the many' and (hopeful…

I found out that my wife and I will be going to South Africa in October. It's a reward trip based on purchases I made in my business. Of course, I'm looking forward to it, but I'd like to know more about it from any simmers here who've made the trip from New York, Newark, or Philadelphia. What are some of the idiosyncracies of this trip? I heard it's about 15 hours or so. Is there a flight I should consider with a specific "layover" or should I break it up over a few days and stay somewhere before going to final destination?I tried flying it last night in FS9. Took off from KJFK in an Airbus 340 loaded with fuel. Got out over the Atlantic with about 6500 miles to go. Left…

My friend has just installed a Dell Dimension 8400 3,2 G with Geforce 6800 256 MB graphic memory, and 1040 MB RAM.He's running FS 2004 on it. He get flashes in the textures like photo-flashes from an audience at a rock concert. Is the anything we can do to stop it?Could it be that we haven't adjusted the graphic card properly?Everything else works perfectly. The framerate is like heaven.

OK, I do know that in real life, Meigs runways have been bulldozed, but until recently, I would happily take my quick VFR flights out of Meigs with no problems.Until I suddenly developed a "flashing white texture" problem...As I taxi along the runway, in three places, a big white texture appears on the ground that can be seen from inside and outside the aircraft, but disappears again if I change the zoom factor (see attached screen shots). Has anyone had a similar problem?I've changed / re-installed video drivers, deleted the FS9.cfg file, de-activated any recent add-on scenery, changed the date, to no avail. So far, this only happens at Meigs, not at other airports.. H…

In my several years of flight simming (first on FS2 for the C-64, then FU3 and FS2002/FS2004), I have primarily flown small GA planes. Trying to fly an airliner or whatever didn't appeal to me. It seemed like guiding a 747 around on autopilot just didn't really capture the spirit of what I was trying to simulate. So, for FS2004 I've got a stable of payware GA and a few payware small airports.Recently, I purchased Eaglesoft's Citation X bizjet on a whim. I thought it might be an interesting change of pace. Little did I know it would convert me over to the dark side of commercial aviation.I've spent the weekend being alternately frustrated and amazed. The frustration has c…

Well the attached shot shows what is wrong.I have installed the flatten file from FlyTampa's website to Tampa/scenery folder but it doesn't completely fix it....Strange... I can see the waters around the area are elevated too so it much be a mesh problem.I have the scenery's priority on top of any other meshes/sceneries.http://www.mynameispreston.com/private/02-27-00019.jpg

Rig specs in sig... I have the TIR3Pro with Vector... Here's what I'd like to do but I'm in unfamiliar territory... Priorities are listed from top to bottom in order of importance..I get about 35 FPS at SEA-TAC with most options loaded and 75% traffic.1) I want to have a good cross-section of GA and commercial planes. So far the only plane add-on I have is the Flight One Cessna 172. Love the VC and realism of the flight dynamics... Would like to get a few more other planes such as the Aeroworx B200 and the ATR 72 and the DF 727. Near as I can tell, these are the choice planes... But, I was really turned off by the ATR Review on Avsim that said I could expect a 50% …

No stutters when I'm landing, it's really smooth, but when I go to instant replay it's like a slide show sometimes. You'd think it would be the opposite.billg

Seems like a wonderful feature to have on a simming site, but I wonder, is it left off of avsim by design, in order to prevent a problem? I for one would love user poll capbilities.Noel

Hi all, I just purchased Sporty's Chart Viewer and not able to use it. I keep getting script errors and also "ActiveX component can't create object" errors.I have W98se with IE 5.5 (I know, I know, but my system is very stable) and have tried all security settings on low, have lastest version of VBscript...all to no avail.Unfortunately I am in Taiwan, so not so convenient to call Sporty's. Seems like I remember someone else on the forum having a similar prob in the past, but my searches (on the web and on the forum) have come up empty. Thanks for any help, Randy ATaiwan

Title says is it.. What do you think?? The new LDS767 for example, i would really like it. Very nice a/c. LDS did a great job on it, spent alot of time, and im shure they payed a price for it some where along the line, but $$39.95 for a sim that cost only $$29.95?Not trying to offend any one what so ever. Even if they lowered the price to 25 or 30, they would still be making a huge profit of the plane. And the PMDG 737NG, very nice, but look at the prices..http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id...09&type=productI was just curious to know how others feel about this. Several aircraft are worth the price, like the PMDG and the LDS, well worth it, and very detailed ai…

Hey Everyone. During RTW '05, a number of players decided to tackle this unique airliner for the South Pacific Corridor, and some difficulty was encountered on her flying characteristics. For those who may elect to pick up this outstanding add on, I will be posting some tips that I have found to be successful for handflying this beast over the next week. For fledgling Concorde pilots, I hope this helps to smooth out the learning curve.Best Regards,

When I'm flying in the area of Morocco and I have tuned Casablanca Control 125.1 , Flight Simulator starts to announce me ATIS of the nearest airports ("Automated Weather Observation, GSML Ceiling 2300 Broken...... Automated Weather Observation, GSMN......"). It wouldn't be so big problem, but I can't communicate with ATC (there can't be 2 sides speaking at one moment). What is it? How can I get rid off it?

I'm thinking of getting the Visual Flight London and I'm wondering what aircraft fly into London City on a regular basis? Any jets? Besides the DF Fed Ex 727 that will be dropping in there on a regular basis now. :-)billg

I am using FS9. Is there someway to add an airline to ATC?I am currently running a Continental Express aircraft and would like to use that name in the ATC calls. I tried adding the name to the "AIRLINE.CFG" file but that did not help. Is there some other file that has to be modified? Thanks,David Weiner

I would appreciate your help in finding out what the best add-on sceneries and aircraft are out there in your opinion. These could be payware or freeware. Please include suggestions, comments, etc. for different sceneries like SimFlyers, Fly Tampa, etc. Any other recommendations on aircraft, scenery are welcome. I'm looking to span the globe on this endeavor and not just the USA.
