ActiveSky almost got me killed (simulated ...LOL). I still don't know what hit me. The C310 has prop-deicing but is not allowed to take off in known icing conditions nevertheless. I started a flight in Rome where I was for the weekend :-) to fly back to Germany via Venice. I took off in a minor thunderstorm with rain and snow. I had a heavy headwind of 25 knots and heavy turbulence during the climb. I decided to stay rather low at the 6200ft. ATC had assigned me to asI was expecting that the wind would even pick up at higher altitudes. I noticed that my ASI needle went lower and lower during climbout so I hit the de-icers. I picked up a little speed but not for long the d…

I wonder if anyone can shed any light on why my FS9(.1) installation seems to become less and less of a joy to use the longer it sits on my PC. The general performance (and I know this has been noted before by many others) seems to degrade over time - and I am getting a bit fed up of re-installing the whole thing. The programme already has a whole hard disc all to itself, with its very own Windows XP installation, so it is not competing for resources with Norton Anti-virus, or whatver. OK, I have quite a lot of add-ons - third party scenery files, Terrain Mesh, Ultimate Traffic - the usual stuff, but after a fresh re-installation the whole thing seems to work much more sm…

HiI have just received my new Computer and am really amazed at how smoothly the sim is running on my new rig. I have however encountered a strange problem which is particularly noticeable (though not exclusively) around the larger more detailed Airports. For example at KDFW using the PMDG 737 when i initially fire up FS2004 i see an FPS count of 20+ from the cackpit view (most sliders are to the right). This level of performance continues until i cycle thru the other views avaiable (i.e. VC, Spot Plane, Tower) where on returning to cockpit view my FPS count has dropped by 50% (i.e. it is now 10ish). This reduced performance continues until I either a) take off and fly …

I have recently run across three books that are based on STUNNING photographs of actual aircraft cockpits. There is a two book series featuring every thing from Warbirds to Cold War era fighters. Another book from the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum featurs everything from the Wright Bros to spacecraft. They cost 25 bucks each but we all have birthdays etc. These books give us a chance to compare the sim cockpits to the ACTUAL ones in brilliant, close up detail. For the budget conscious, the current issue of Pilot Journal (March/April) has an article on the Warbirds cockpit book and has 2 page spread photos of a B-24,P38,Messerschmidt Bf 109 (I was only aware of the ME 10…

Title says it all.. Never have had a problem untill now. Outside view's of the aircraft are fine and i can lock at 25 or 30 fps. Switch to the 2D Panel, and my frames drop to 8 or 9FPS. Has Anyone had this problem? If so, what is the cure or what is wrong with my pc? Really aggrivating problem, help would be greatly appreciated.

  8. Hey Guys,Hope you are all enjoying your new 767s :)I have a question thats baffled me since fs2004 was released. Why does the performance/fps get so low over long flights.I just flew my shinny new 767 from Florida to Boston. She was down to 8fps over Boston's threshold, at least half the fps at the departure point.I'm don't want to complain, MS have a fine product & no one can do any better. But, I just wondered if someone REALLY knows what is causing these harsh performance drops.Small runs in flight1 cessna 172 for example, are always liquid smooth.I have a reasonable system & most my sliders are mid set.P4 3Ghz2 Gig ramNv 5950 FXCheers, george

hello everyone, i have a porblem with fs2004.while flying the handling seems realy strange when i press the left or the right button to change flight direction (turn). in every other flight simulator, the plane moves just as long as i push the left or right button to turn, but in fs2004 it just keeps going and going till i give contra (ex. if i push left, i have to push right to get it stop again!).why is it like this? i hate it! can somebody help me?greetings from switzerland, david

I have been learning how to use this excellent panel by Richard Probst from the tinmouse website. I am currently stuck trying to set the radios, i.e. NAV1 and NAV2. No matter what I do, I can't change the setting. I tried right-clicking, but I get the close window menu. Would someone who uses this panel please help me?Thanks!Airbus

HiI have been using FSNavigator for quite some time and I like and enjoy this program. I am wondering though if there is an alternative to this one, one that can distinguish the land and the see boundaries with different colour. Unfortunately the developers of FSNavigator haven't updated there program for quite some time now.Stelios

Tom; I absolutely LOVE the new look! Just one question. Is there any waypossible to make it kind of....welll NEON? You know.. so it glows in the dark? I, for one, would like to see this idea expanded to the AVSIM FlightSchool as well; to possibly include a similar heading, possibly in the form of a "sticky" that would admonish a potential poster toFOR CRYING OUT LOUD PLEASE READ the information , and use the LESSONSprovided with MSFSxxxx, as there is a great wealth of info contained there. I want you to understand that this is not some kind of jab at you because I understand and agree with your motives. But a question comesto my mind...or what's left of it...where doe…

I'm just reading an FAA manual (Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, FAA-H-8083-25), and the section on ground effect got me wondering if this is a phenomenon which is modelled in FS2002 or FS2004. Does anyone have any genuine experience of this effect?I guess I'll have to try this and see if it can be measured.

As you most likely know Phil Sauerteig has run this fantastic site for years, however time constraints have forced him to bow out of the day-to-day operations of this great resource. As of 19:05 Zulu on February 25, 2005, the new http://dangerousairports.com (DAD) site is officially complete and live! This is a good day for me personally as I've spent countless hours over the past two weeks transferring Phil's data to our new database. We have inported Phil's data to the new site and will now begin to update the scenery and other links in the upcoming weeks. The new DAD website has a new forum, which includes an area for you to suggest airports and a screenshot forum for …

Hi Guy's.I'm stumped on this one, and wondered if anyone had any ideas.my mate's aircraft all shutdown their engines when we set/start a flight, even with a default flight set-up with everything running.he has the latest FSUIPC etc, and uses the PSS planes, and default.for example, I went round there and created a flight with the default Cessna at an airport, then checked that all the electrics were on, and actually switched on, the strobes etc were all working, and the radios too.but when pressing the button to start the engine it goes through the usual start process then just stops again, no matter what I do.I am completely confused as to why this is happening and welco…

wanted a good military jet so D/L from FsNoric.net the FA18-E Super Hornet, looks like a great plane by Yamamoto & Kubota. I Have plane installed ok BUT the 3 update fixes have me stumped on the installation. 18Efix2.zip--FA18Ev22.zip and FA18E231.zip If anyone has this model, Do you just unzip and extract each Zip file into the original FA18E folder in FS9 Aircraft folder??? In the few directions they mention introducing a panel, sound and all the textures in. Guess at 75 I'm too dense, any help will be appreciated or guidance to a similar Fa18 for FS9 that installs esier.ThanksChuck
