Anyone know the current price of aviation fuel? I like to know for when I do flight planning, loads and fuel calculations, I am glad I am not having to pay out of my pocket for my flights. I feel bad for those that enjoy flying for recreation.

When flying over unknown territory if one clicks on GPS and selects NRST a list of nearest fields comes up with headings and distance. However, how can I find the NAV (ILS) frequency for a selected field and the runway heading?

Hi all!I just did a little experimenting with very high winds and different aircraft. I set the wind manually to 110 knots gusting to 120. Than I picked different aircraft. First the default cessna 172SP. Initially the wind just blew me of the runway. I than changed to a DC-10 with full flaps deployed and about 50% fuel. I managed to do a several vertical lift-off's and touchdown's.Than, pretty unexpected a AI mooney bravo taxied to the parallel runway and started its takeoff-roll. The mooney accelerated and took off like there would be now wind at all!!Has anyone experienced this too? Does the weather have no influence on the flight performance of AI aircraft in FS?curio…

  5. I apolozize for the question that maybe is stupid. The FS stall warning is the "virtual" version of the stick shaker (for liners) or the acoustic stall warning (for the smaller planes)???What I mean is when FS triggers the warning, the plane is still in a recoverable "buffet" area (like when the stall warning or stick shaker go off in real planes I suppose) or already in stall????Thanks in advance for answering!!!Regards

Has this ever happened to you? I read through some long, complex thread on a particularly meaty subject here on AVISM, and I think - yeah, I'd like to add my two pence, or ideally about five UK pounds worth, to the discussion. I start to tap out a response, but then get so frustrated that I can't just SAY IT! Instead I've got to faff about with the keyboard for half an hour trying to compose something. Then I think, oh goodness that's rubbish and just delete it all.I wish - sometimes - that we were all in a big aircraft hangar somewhere, and then we could really put the flightsimming world to rights.Anyone else experienced this? Ian

I am having a hard time, as no planes are showing up in the preview window. They did before I put the Battlefield 2 Nvidia drivers on, but now, after I installed the 78.01s, that came out today, it does the same thing!Any suggestions. Also, would someone mind sending me the background image for the preview window?EDIT: My System:PIV: 3.0ghz ht1.5gb ddr pc3200 ramNvidia GeForce 6800GT 256MB card

I'm looking for a fre recommendations for Bizjets or commuter jets. My preferences seem to be different than most sim pilots, so I'm not expecting a lot, but let's see.My priorities do NOT include a beautiful exterior model. This could be quite rudimentary and I'd still be happy. What I'd like is as close to 100% functions simulation as possible: electronics, pressurization, fuel management, hydraulics, flight guidance, and so on. I'm hoping for a plane/panel combination that includes as few dummy (or non-functional) switches as possible, and as much that works as possible. As close to 100% representation of the aircraft from INSIDE the cockpit, but what's outside the …

I know that the prevailing consensus of opinion is that the FPS slider should be set to some position dependent on what "power" your computer system has. This makes logical sense - right? Why else would MS put it into the Sim. BUT -- when I set my slider to unlimited , I really can't see any difference in the eye candy dept and maybe - just maybe- the sim seems smoother. When I get close to a busy airport, my machine gets the pauses anyway I seem to set the slider. What do you all experience with this. Barry

Well five stars and the Gold medal for excellence for the PMDG 747 really makes you wonder about these reviews and whether the reviewer reads the PMDG 747 support forum. It's good but not worth five stars at this stage. When I last checked a poll on the PMDG 747 support forum only gave it a 66% highly satisfied vote. Perhaps when the promised patch eventuates (and if wingviews are implemented although that is a personal thing) but not as things stand.Bruceb

  16. I have been practicing my landing technique... in Flight Simulator 3.0!I just re-discovered the wonderful Flight Simulator History Web site at http://fshistory.simflight.com. The site is well designed and contains an excellent Flight Simulator Timeline from FS1 (1979) to FS2004, as well as free downloads of the early versions of FS.I have been flying version 3.0. Gosh - the magnificent 640x350 16-color graphics, the perfectly circular clouds, the several downtown Chicago buildings, the generous three aircraft, I could go on-and-on. And to think, all of that wonder on a single floppy! If you want to have some fun this weekend

sticky runway? runway glue? can't rotate and lift off at rotation speeds? are the needles in your instruments going straight up along with your aircraft when you do finally hit a higher than normal speed for rotation? feel like you're riding a bullit?i tried everything else but this and it works for a smooth, gentle takeoff. yea, i was aware of it but didn't think it was the problem but it was. here it is: be at full throttle before you reach 60 knots. heck, now my takeoffs are as cool and fun as landings are. i can now rotate and lift off at the proper rotation speeds. i tried it in a few default aircraft and my addon aircraft. i can see the nose actually begin to rise a…

Hi,I posted this in the TTOOLS forum as well, but I'd like to appeal to the broader audience as well.I've researched this topic as well as I could, but the answer still eludes me.I'm attepting to add some C-141's doing Touch-n-Go's to Wright-Patterson AFB, but for some reason, when specifying VFR in the flightplan, the traffic will not show up.I started from scratch with HT's C-141B model for AI, the stock Airports.txt, and some hand-written FP's. Nothing I did would make the darn traffic appear... I checked my AFCAD's, the parking codes, the FP's, I tried using the default 737-400, I changed airports, I removed the "TNG" prefix, and it STILL didn't show up...Out of despe…

Any news on the releae of EZ-Scenery? I believe it was intended to release around the 1st of September. I also understand release dates slip all the time, but the website hasn't been updated in months. I am looking forward to it in concept, but I wonder if it will be as good as it looks it might be? http://www.abacuspub.com/catalog/s600.htmTony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]

Russian documentation so I had to spend most of yesterday evening "working it out". Finally managed to get the engines started and all cockpit instruments working properly. Took me a while to figure out the autopilot.First Russian autopilot capable of ILS approaches I have come across. Crude, but seems to work well. You need to be in full landing configuration for the A/P to establish the aircraft on the glide slope though. Excellent flight dynamics. Relatively high approach speeds required.Nice clear panels with a working APU.Not for the faint hearted.:-hah but very, very rewarding once you get the hang of it.The navigator's position in the nose is accessed by hitting th…

Hi there,i've been flying iFDG A320 series during last few weeks; coupled with PSS panel. What a beauty! But there's a thing i dislike: from time to time, when on short final, i "loose" the glideslope and immediately receive the GS alert :-( and have to land by hands. Now, since with PMDG 737NG it never happened, can anyone please tell me what's wrong with my A3XX setup? Thanks in advance for helpingLuigi ;-)
