Just wanted some thoughts, cant find any detailed reviews anywhere.Is this version of the Dash 8 better than the PSS version?Any thoughts would be appreciated.Lee

Needless to say, I'm excited about an upcoming trip in October....Johannesburg, SA. My wife and I are leaving Allentown, Pa., enroute to Atlanta where we board an Airbus 340-600. We fly 8 hours to SID (off the coast of Africa)- I believe that's Cape Verde, to refuel. It's a 50 minute stop (can't get off the plane) in the middle of the night. Supposedly a new flight crew boards here. From there we take off for JNB (Johannesburg)and that portion of the flight takes 10 more hours. Ciao guys, please let me first apologize for posting this question but I think I'm helpless and need a hint. I'm a very beginner on flight simulation and right now trying to work with VOR navigation on the default Cessna 172 in FS9.1. The situation is that I am placed with the default Cessna 172 at Chicago Meigs RWY 36 and try to tune in the VORTAC of O'Hare at 113.90 MhZ- Now the problem is, after tuning NAV1 to 113.90 MhZ, the CDI won't move in the gauge and the DME won't display the NM distance either. Just nothing happens.(Also, I can't listen to VOR morse although I try as described in the learning center)Can you help me? What am I doing wrong? I appreciate your help…

Hi Everyone,After reloading Windows XP, and applying the latest nVidia drivers, I now get lines between all polygons in the FS world, in fact all games experience this problem nowI've tried older drivers, even the nVidia beta drivers and the guru3d drivers, but nothing fixes it, so I guess its a setting somewhere, either in the game, or on the adapter settingsCan anyone offer any help?Thanks very muchGeoff

Hello,I fly my sims in the USA (from KCHS). Recently I have been trying some European flying to broaden my experience. For the first time I noticed that I do not have nav information in a number of my addons for the European locations. I started at EHAM since I have the new scenery for that airport. I tried my new Cirrus (Eaglesoft) and the map had no information. I loaded my PMDG Express cargo that has a Reality XP Garmin 430 installed. While the map works, there are no flyto points in the system for the "Direct-to" function. I tried to enter Heathrow and got no response.Are there different versions of these products for the European market?BTW - I tried the Reality XP A…

Hello Guys, I have a question for you.I lost en entire day trying to make Rob Barendregt sonic boom gauge (both visual and audio) work with Kirk Olsson F-16 Viper but there was nothing I could do about it.The gauge triggers the sound but not the visual effect.I even stripped the F-16 panel of all of the gauges, instruments, effect, afternurner, anything...no gauges other than the Rob Barendregt one but still nothing....it triggers the boom sound but not the cloud.I linked the visual affect to the cockpit lights to see if the effect appeared and it works...I can see the cloud when i turn the light but is not triggered by the gauge. ok first i thought it was my drivers for my nvidia based card so i rolled them back to the 66s and i still have this problem. If I choose the spot plane view from time to time the scenery would "white out" on me and at first i thought i was flying through a cloud. I left it alone and waited to see if this was true but then after a while the colors would come back and its a clear day and i reversed my viewing angle to see if i did really fly through a cloud but there is no clouds. Anyone else have or had this problem and did anyone find a soultion?ps it also happens in any view but it spot plane view i notice it morethanksPaul

Hi,i need some urgent help. i did a second install of FS9 (clean, including the patch) for testing. now my original install (full of sceneries and aircrafts) says "you are not allowed to update (scenery) files, because you do not have administrator rights". be sure i do have ADMINISTRATOR rights on XP, and the new clean install accepts everything. i did restarts, i changed rights up and down, changed .exe-names - nothing helped.anyone any idea ?thanks in advance :-)Sinzow

I just recently installed Mike's great C-130 and Ken's detailed panel for that aircraft and am coming up with a couple of wee problems.For the aircraft, fuel and payload data is as follows:Empty Weight = 83,000 lbsMax. Gross Weight = 155,000The default downloaded payload is 5,630 lbs.From what I can locate on the internet, the maximum spec payload is 45,000 lbs for the C-130.If I reduce my fuel load to 40% and try to use a payload of anything over somewhere between 20,000 and 25,000 lbs the aircraft CG is way out of whack and rotates on its tail. I am still well below MTOW. I have tried distributing the payload between "station one" and "payload" and that doesn't seem to …

Does anyone know of any downloads for sound effects that simulate the rattling and shaking noises an A/C makes when it is in turbulance? I have ASV which does a nice job simulating turbulance, but find that something is missing without sound effects. Bill

HI,I've noticed that sometimes I get a shimmering effect at the cloud base - with clouds that are close to the ground. I am using the HiFPS v2 cloud set by the FSW Group and like the realism of the clouds and the fast loading.I have the latest version of FSUIPC by Pete Dowson and have left the clouds at their default settings. I've also played around with changing AA, MIP, and Render to Texture settings in FS2004. Sometimes, I also get some low clouds on a clear day that have a dark grey border around them.My computer system is an elderly one: - Dell 4300 - 3.0 CPU - 512 memory - Nvidia 5200 video card( I know, old video card but still kicking). Hey everyone,I just noticed that when i am running FS9 in full screen mode and switch to the reduced screen mode everything is fine but when i try to return to full screen mode the window completely blacks out no graphics but i do hear the sounds and i can close the windows and i still get the diagloue box confirming the close of the program, but the window is completely black, I have installed Active Sky 5 and Fs Global and i am running the nvidia 77.78 drivers for my video card. any thoughts?Paul

OK everyone, As we approach the "two year" anniversary (well it is actually in July) of the RTM of FS 2004, we haven't heard ANYTHING about a new version FS 2006? I'm puzzled about V1, V2 and Vr speeds. I do understand that these settings are calculated as a result of such things as Aircraft total weight, runway length and condition weather. Once those nembers are available, what decisions confront the PF on 'brakes off'? - e.g V1 decision time, Go or abort? At what point can the PF decide to continue the TO if a failure occurs? I'm sorry for my clumsy explanation, I hope you will understand the point I'm making :) Ken

Though I assume my troubles to be quite normal, I decided to write about them and give others the opportunity to share some thoughts. Maybe I'll get some good inspiration this way...I like to speak about panels and the outside view in general.What causes me troubles often enough is the zoom factor of the outside view and the fact that any panel, may it be in 2D or VC mode, blocks the view to the outside world somehow unnaturally.Many panels are designed to depict the view onto a real panel with the disadvantage to leave only small portions of the screen available where the outside world shines through. I usually fly GA aircraft but I'm thinking of trying out something more commerical. I have no problem with the more sophistocated GA aircraft (Aeroworx B200, F1 PC-12, etc.), and I know my way around the GNS 430/530 quite well. However, I've never used an FMC/FMS.So my question is: What commercial-aviation add-on would be best for me to start with? Right now I'm considering the DF ATR 72, the PMDG 737 (or maybe the 747), the Level D 767, and the feelThere ERJ. Which one of these would be easiest to jump into and learn my way around?
