I have a pretty good hardware config, and my FS is finely tuned to get the best possible FPS. A few days ago, I noticed some stutters, around once every 3 or 4 seconds. So I wondered "what did I change in my config?" The answer was that I had activated the FS real-world weather (with high rate of change)that generated many clouds. Coming back to a clear weather gave me my good FPS back.Doing some tests, my conclusion was that the stutters were not generated by the numerous clouds, but by the real-world weather itself. Maybe because it has to calculate the weather changes, or because it has to update it too often.Did some of you notice the same impact? If so, it means I'd be…

Reflective or non-reflective textures, what would you recommend ?After attempting a flight today at a busy traffic airport like KJFK with my PMDG 747 and Ultimate Traffic I was forced to reduce traffic desity to less than 20%. So it's time for me to swap my AI models to more framerate friendly models. However the textures often come with both reflextive and non-reflective. When at these busy airports and AI aircraft are in great #'s is their much of a differance between them ? IS the reflective look that much better ?Your thoughts would be very much appreciated.ThanksSteve

I am slowly teaching myself various aspects of flying, navigation and communication to enhance my FS9 experience and am now at the point where I'm relatively proficient at IFR and navigating using various navaids and avionics. It's time to move on to the next step: radio comms and interacting with air traffic control. Does anyone have any links to training materials for radio comms and ATC? I have been using real-world training material such as the FAA's Instrument Flying Guide and Canadian Air Pilot charts and approach plates thus far and would like to continue using real-world material if at all possible -- even if real-world procedures can't be followed exactly in F…

I was wondering if anyone was working on or new of a VA for Spirit Airlines. I know there used to be a few sites for it but they have all closed as far as I know. I also would like to know if there is an interest by someone in getting this VA going if there isn't one running. Thanks for any interest

Hi all, I have been using a mix of 2 different wav files for the gyro sounds for my airliners to create a realistic cockpit enviornment sound for example avionics and AC sounds. I flew on a southwest 737-300 and I must say getting a looking a sitting in the cockpit it very quiet at the gate with engines off. There is a very slight noice level of the avionics. Erick Cantu's DC-9 series sounds have a flie called "COCKPITFANS" I think that resembles these sounds quiet well. My questions is do all airliners have this ticking sound in the cockpit? I am planing in useing this COCKPITFAN sounds for all my airliners. Does the 757, 767, 777, 747...and so on (bigger airliners) ha…

I downloaded new Wasaya textures for the PMDG B1900 and found someone changed the pilot and co-pilot to the faces of Kirk and Spock (Kirk in the left seat of course!) I wondered if there are a big number of FS fans that also happen to be big fans of the show? How about it? Do we love Trek as much as FS?John HaleyThunder BayCanada

Most of my flying to date in FS has been in airliners of various types and involved flying A to B across continents or oceans. However, I'm looking for a change of pace. I'd like to spend some time getting to know one particular area and aircraft type.I'm looking for an area that will have some interesting scenery or landscapes with good mesh and some detailed airports. Likewise the aircraft must be fairly detailed and "realistic" but still be fun to fly. I'm not looking for a huge geographical area, but one large enough to take me some time to explore. I'm not too keen on photographic sceneries, but I might consider one if it were exceptionally good.Does anyone have any s…

I installed this last night and it is fantastic. Very realistic air traffic around Anchorage and Lake Hood. They even have the floatplanes water taxiing to the actual takeoff spot in Lake Hood prior to taking off. I was in Anchorage early this summer for a week, and it looks like the real thing..... :)http://www.georender.org/PMTraffic.htm

On the way to work early this morning, I was thinking about the relationship between computers, real aircraft, and PC flight simulation. When I got to work, I had an email from Boeing's World Design Team (which I am sure many of you did too) with the following pictures contained in the link below. Before you look at them (if you have not already seen them), consider the following thought (as I am sure many of you have). It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that in the abstract, there is some sort of inverse mathematical relationship between the sophistication of computers, computer programming, and the ease of which the great heavies of the airline industry …

Hopefully this wont be deleted but the support over at the SSW website is just terrible and no one can answer my question. Do any one you have an install problem with this software? On the install i keep getting an "Aircrafttexture.AIBVC_11_t.bmp: this file contains invalid data (error 21FC" and on a different attempt its the gdiplus.dll error. I have downloaded this file many time and each time i try the install its a different error. Its getting on my nerves. Hopefully someone can help me. Thx

Hi there, some time ago i'm pretty sure i read a thread on displaced ILS's in Norway; now i'm unable to find it and i need to know what to do in this case.Yesterday i landed at ENBO rwy 25 and it looked like ILS was misplaced (maybe because of some reliefs around the airport?).So i had to land by hands with a 30knots crosswind. Can anyone please help me?Thanks in advanceLuigi ;-)

Inspired by the recent release of Google Earth (http://earth.google.com/) I wonder if it would be possible to have this kind of scenery available in the flight simulator.Imagine:[ul][le]A scenery, that is automatically loaded from the net while you fly[/le][le]The scenery should be cached on HD, so only newer or not yet downloaded data should be transmitted[/le][le]A scenery that may be changed, expanded and improved at any time on the server, so you allways get the latest version[/le][le]Scenery should not only consist of satellite images, and elevation data but also of 3d objects like buildings[/le][le]Simmer pilots could subscribe for this service for a fee that pays f…

I have downloaded a freeware Maule and found it to have six seats. What is the point with this? If there are people (at least grown up)in all seats you can't have any fuel without going overweight.Maybe I should point out that I have real world in mind now
