Yesterday whilst on a united A320 from TPA to IAD i experianced quite a worrying situation, i was listening to good old channel 9, everything was fine until he aircraft i was on stopped replying to atlanta center. For over 5 minutes they were calling out for our aircraft but there was still no reply. i began to get worried as the calls became more frantic, i soon got concerned about the pilot well beign and thought about the worst case scenario. i walked up to the front flight attendant and told her what was happening, she soon called the cockpit using the phones to check out what the problem was soon after that the pilots of our plane began replying i missed what their e…

Hi,According to the news a few minutes ago, pilots tried to land on the new not yet finished runway at Schiphol, the Netherlands. The new runway is the fifth runway which is built parallell to another runway (Zwanenburgbaan) but is not yet finished. Normally, pilots were free to navigate on their own towards the already excisting runway. Now, ATC has taken it over to avoid further mistakes. Also red marks light up now at the new runway. For more information, see also www.nu.nl (Dutch) http://nu.nl/document?n=60494Regards, FerryPS: Lago please update the airport scenery! ;-)

Just a question about MTOW. My local areodrome has a sealed runway that has a MTOW of 5.7 tonnes. This is listed in the enroute supplement and confirmed at the aerodrome's own website. However on ocassion I see aircraft movements at this aerodrome where the aircraft clearly exceed MTOW and by a significant margin. One example last year was a Learjet whose MTOW might be near double the specs. Also the occasional DC3. Does anyone know under what circumstances MTOW can be exceeded?EDIT: It's OK, I found the answer in the relevant sections in the CASA regulations - "Operating Standards for Licensed Aerodromes".

HiI have contacted the companies that advertise on FSPlanet and I convinced them that FSPlanet is no good. It took 2 hours to get the first reply and they said that they believe me but they still need at least one specific incident. Anyone who had files stolen by FSPlanet tell me here your name, e-mail and a short description of the file (eg. 737 NrthWest) so I can show hi a few people who had files stolen.Take careMike

Hi, I am looking for a good free webhosting company that I can host my signatures for these forums, as well as other pictures on, and be able to link them! I tried geocities, as well as envy.nu, but as you can see, they don't allow pictures to be linked outside of their networks (see my signature below). Is there anyone who does allow image linking? Perhaps besides flightsimmers.net, because they are closing down.. Thank you for your time and responses.

It's gone. Though that might have been a worthwhile topic to discuss in an adult manner, name calling killed it. Don't reopen it, cause it will be immediately deleted. There are other newsgroups, forums, etc. where you can blast each other, but not here.

For the fifteenth time in a few years, another flatlander finds out there's a rather large obstacle when flying West along I-70 in Colorado.Flatlanders from Canada (they're usually from Texas), flying a really small plane - with no turbocharging - in the mountains - in Colorado - found out that they didn't have enough power to get over Loveland Pass when reaching the Eisenhower Tunnel. No Kidding Sherlock. They didn't realize the highway didn't go all the way from Denver to Grand Junction in a lovely valley low enough for a powerless plane to fly all the way through. This is a popular route for people who didn't look at maps to go - and they all end up in a pile at Lovel…

Hey all,I found this EXTREMELY interesting - and a bit funny as well. I don't mean funny in the "ha ha" sense, but in an ironic sense. A gentleman by the name of Harley Aulance wrote a "Citizens' Open Declaration Against Corporate Injustice" 'bill' and has sent it to many sites such as .Is it possible that a strong grassroots effort be inspired by such a Citizens Bill? Enough to finally get our representatives to actually represent US for a change instead of the big money? Here's the link to the [link:www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/26433.html|full post] if you wish to read further. And the declaration:Citizens' Open Declaration Against Corporate Injustice25 July 2002 Wh…

Here's a rundown on the more known variety of aircraft viruses:F-4 VIRUSOutdated virus that was once very capable, but leaves an obvious trail and is therefore easily detected.F-16 VIRUSExtremely small virus that's highly overrated. Seldom makes it all the way to your files. But if it somehow does, it usually can't do any real damage anyway.F-15C VIRUSMakes lots of claims about what it can do, but usually shows up after you've already shutdown your computer. Sometimes destroys the wrong files.F-15E VIRUSMost capable virus of all. Works quickly and accurately. Causes tremendous damage to targeted files. Can defend itself well against anti viral programs.F-18 VIRUSAnother v…

It has now been confirmed that there is NO CHANCE of asteroid 2002 NT7 impacting the Earth in 2019. In fact, it will miss by at least 30 million kilometres. There is another impact possibility on 2060 February 1, but this is also expected to disappear when the orbit has been more accurately determined.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

It is sort of surprising to me with the number of real world pilots who participate in AVSIM that we have such a lack of decent 2D interior views for most of the airplane in FS2002 and other sims including the default aircraft. The Baron, the Caravan, and the Boeing 747 are three that come immediately to mind. I'm not talking about panels, I am talking about the other views - the pilot-perspective views at 45 degree increments around the interior that are seldom available in places like airliners.net and similar "cockpit" photography spots. Most 3rd party panel providers manage to provide very decent panels but few include the other views. Those that do often cobble …

Just for your information: -I visited Birmingham Intl airport here in the UK last Sunday and witnessed an American Airlines Boeing 767-300ER aborting its take-off run.I wasnt equipped with a scanner at the time so I couldnt listen in to ATC transmissions, but from what I could tell, the aircraft was suffering some kind of problem with its right engine. It rolled down to the end of the runway and continued to the main taxiway opposite the British Airways "Eurohub" where it stood for a good 10-15 minutes having its right engine cycled up and down.I couldnt tell the reg number exactly either because I hadnt got my binoculars either at the time (I was only dropping the folks …

I've just read the thread about 'boycotting' FSPlanet on the FS General Discussion forum, and Tom's comments before locking the thread.I'm also very mindful of Scott's comments before the thread about Ariane was also locked. So is this the right place to air news about Tishma and his scams in the hope that 'newcomers' will be aware of his 'antics' and hopefully not support him? In all my personal posts on this matter, my aim has never been to suggest a boycott - I have more faith in people's ability to form their own conclusions and make their own decisions, but I do believe that in the absence of 'front page' news regarding Tishma, the more people are made aware of the tr…

Gary, I just wanted to let you know we very much appreciate that you make us your favorite flightsim site to use. And we always like to hear what folks think we do really well and what could use some improvement. But we would like to keep from making derogatory remarks about other sites to prove the point. I think most people have good intentions, but your subject line would have definitely started an argument.Again, thanks for making us your website of choice and feel free to post as much as your want on the things that you feel makes us a cut above the rest. :-)

Or is this maybe a product of years of research at Area 51 ?I'd love to know what's going on.Best Wishes,Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Before anyone starts getting worried regarding the latest asteroid scare, let me just calm your nerves. It's pretty obvious that the various news channels have picked up on preliminary information regarding the orbit of asteroid 2002 NT7. You might be aware that news reports recently have been suggesting that this asteroid will hit the Earth on 2019 February 1. However, this must have been based on a VERY early orbit calculation, and these are subject to HUGE amounts of uncertainty. The latest data that I have from the IAU Minor Planet Center in Massachusetts (based on an observational arc of 15 days) indicates that the asteroid will misss the Earth (closest approach on 2…

The stick in an A330 is on the side of the seat instead of in the middle. Do the pilots fly with their left hand or do they sit in the right-hand seat in these planes?
