I was wondering how much classroom work and in-flight time is required to get a basic, VFR pilot's license. And about how much would it cost.

I've always flown my FS planes in US Airways Livery so this hits close to home. The airline lost $2.1 Billion in just 2001 alone. Luckily they will be continuing flights through loans. Losses like this have been around the airline industry since Sept 11th. Countless other airlines are in this situation or on the brink. Will commercial aviation ever really recover? How does a decline in interest in commerical flight affect FS itself...will interest be affected? (doubtful if current sales figures for FS keep up) but aviation in general has taken a serious black eye and one wonders how this will affect the future of flight simulation and the industry itself? What carrier mig…

Driving past Boeing Field today, I caught a glimpse of the new 747-400ER. It was a very picturesque scene, the brand new 747-400ER next to the "Spirit of Everett" (the first 747). I only wish I had a camera to show everyone. If you live in the Seattle area, go check it out, It looks really great (even as an Airbus fan ;))

Hick! Must not have installed the POPs system yet! What you haven't heard of the POPs system. POP (Protect our Passengers). Its a gun and a breath analyzer built into one. Prior to engine start, the pilots blow into the barrel of the gun. If drunk, the gun does it business. If not drunk, the aircraft can be started and the gun used on unruly terrorists!!

I have two questions. (1) Per the FMC on the DES page for speed ad path. I cant get the FMC to take a lower than planned alt and speed other than whats on the V-NAV path.(2) The Hawaiian Islands have got to be the best flying around. Try it from BUR on the VNYS7 SID to the MAGGI# STAR for Honolulu in the 737-400. Is any one aware of ANY upgrades such as scenery or FMC stuff for the Islands. Also try a Kona or Hilo to Maui or Honoluluat [email protected] (w) or [email protected]

[http://www.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cc5d15671f44040.jpg] Ok, so I've gathered that this character Ferdy at FSPlanet.com is stealing peoples files and perhaps selling them on a cd. I'm also sure I don't know the whole story surrounding this issuse either but I have a few questions if any of you care to answer.I think I read somewhere that he uses spyware on his site. I really don't know %$#^ about that end of the PC (I'm a virtual pilot after all) but I do know I don't like the sound of it. My information is mine, and if anyone's going to make money of it by selling it, It better be making it's way to me. I know that's really wishful thinking, but just the thought of…

I would suggest that the best course of action on this forum would be to RESPECT everyone's opinion on any subject that is discussed. I for one am VERY interested in reading all of the links to the TWA800 crash that Braun Tacon provides, and I would like to thank him for his efforts. Please bear in mind here that he never waffles on about anything in his initial posts. He simply provides links to articles on the topic, nothing more. Arguments only begin when other forum users start criticising posts of this sort.It makes far more sense to keep an open mind regarding a great many subjects.Chris Low,ENGLAND.

Seeking someone of American English mother tongue as narrator for aviation & flightsim related non-commercial (hobby) movies. You should have some kind of speech recording gear. Reward: can't offer anything but a 'honorable mention'. The current project is only a quarter page and needs a male voice. Please write to [email protected]. Thanks! Christian.

Ok...I said I would not post on this topic, but I'm sorry, this bears repeating.http://twa800.com/updates.htmRead the updates for today concerning Vernon Grose, former member of the NTSB letters to Congress and the NTSB Chair. (I'm sorry, but I could not post the links as they led directly to the .jpg's on the TWA800 site)As I've said all along...there is NOT unanimity of opinion concerning the TWA800 incident. Everyone who questions is not a conspiracy theorist. Best,bt

In my constant efforts to shut down FSPLANET.com, I have devised a plane that should help to persuade several of his advertisers to discontinue their support.I want everyone who get's a chance to read this post to visit the two mega-sites, AVSIM and Flightsim. Get a close look at all the new files. Then go to FSPLANET.com and see if any of them have been uploaded. Also, if you yourself have created a file and he's uploaded it. What I want you to do is send me an e-mail with the file name(s) and the date it/they were posted to FSPLANET.com. With this information I will be able to complete a detailed list of poached files and send them off to his advertisers. I believ…

For anyone who knows, how are General Aviation flights handled between these two countries, or between the US-Canada? Does a pilot have to land at a customs facility as soon as the border is crossed, or does one simply file a flight plan between the point of origin and destination airports? Someone mentioned to me recently that they fly between my hometown of Phoenix and Rocky Point in Mexico, and I was curious how complicated that process was...-John

Hi... I've just been looking at some photos of one of Sabena's B737-200s, OO-SDR (now Palmair European's G-CEAC). I've just noticed that in the older, Sabena photos it's a combi - but in the newer, Palmair photos the cargo door has gone!Does this mean that a 737 can be converted from a combi to normal? I never knew thay could do that!BTW... does anyone know what the pressure (psi) is pushing on the cabin sides at cruising altitude, when the cabin is pressurized? I just wondered... thanks!
