Hangar Chat
This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. No, no 2nd thoughts... It's pure Aviation stuff.... First a Turbofan model kit: I Built a MINIATURE Turbofan Engine. Assembly and Start of the Model Kit (youtube.com) Second a simulator I was completely unaware of since yesterday it pop'd up when browsing youtube: Flyout no Steam (steampowered.com) 🙂

I somehow recall there being an addon for either fs9 or fsx that allowed for "time travel" such as specifying a date somewhere around the 1930... 1940... 1970... and getting scenery and aircraft according to the corresponding Era... Anyway, this would be a great addon for any of the platforms, Prepar3d, MSFS, XP. Imagine being able to set a date for your flight session and the simulator loading scenery, navaids and aircraft compatible with it? One could simulate flying a DC-3, a Constellation, Stratocruiser, ... in the early 40s / 50s of the last Century, or a b707, a trident-3, VC-10... in the 70s, etc... I would gladly adhere to such an option 🙂

40 minutes flight time. 120 mph. Removable batteries, so I guess you can swap while the used battery charges.

Self Loading Cargo wouldn't load. Run P3D, nothing works in the cockpit. Active Sky says it can't connect to simbrief. Let's reboot and try again. BSOD I ready my seppuku necessities... SLC loads. Oh, P3D started 'paused.' no wonder 'nothing worked.' AS still doesn't connect to simbrief...oh well.

Probably not a big deal for many but I live in Porirua, New Zealand so a C5 Galaxy almost never comes here. Last night my 9 year old daughter came into my room to say good night but out of the corner of her eye she said, 'Look Daddy there is an airplane coming straight for me!!!' so I got up to take a look and off to the horizon was an airplane, not out of the ordinary other then the only planes to fly into our local airport are A320's, Dash 8's and ATR's for the most part, This was after dark so no way to tell what it was other then the lights on this one didn't look like an A320. So instead of saying Go To bed its just a plane I told her she could watch it fly by. To me…

Right over the famous all American valley near Los Angeles in So. Calif. (where the term Valley Girl comes from). It's from the California Guard Joint Training Base in Los Alamitos. A Beech Queen Air. It's like they're tracking something. People are phoning the news and 911 wondering why the plane was up there carpentering a residential area.

Ride along with a current day training flight in a B-52 which made it's first flight in 1952, 72 years ago. https://www.militarytimes.com/video/2024/03/04/ride-along-for-a-simulated-bombing-run-in-a-b-52-stratofortress/ One thing in the video disturbed me. Is 1st Lt Hulgren's haircut in compliance with current Air Force grooming standards. In my day if one of my troops showed up to work with a hair looking like that I would have have sent him home and told him not to come back until he got a haircut in compliance with AFR 35-10 (Air Force grooming standards). Have things changed that much? Noel

I’m curious about how long users have been using either a specific piece of software or hardware for flying in your preferred simulator. I’ll start the ball rolling. In October 2003 I bought several GoFlight units - 2 GF166, 2 T8, 1 GF-LGT and 1 P8 unit. Later I acquired the MCP-Pro and EFIS. The oldest units have remained operational over 20 years. Radar Contact v4 is my oldest software. I’ve been using that since 2006. Just 18 years! Both have been exceptional in performance and reliability.
