March 3, 20242 yr Author I don't know if it's exaggeration, but newspapers says the biggest blizzard near Truckee since the Donner Party tragedy in the 1800's. Donner Pass is right there on highway 80. We have driven through a zillion times. The Caltrans police wave us through (4 wheel drive). But 2 wheel drive vehicles have to have chains, which of course they just happen to have lots of them handy for sale and will install them for you, for a fee of course.
