Forwarded from a friend who's a pilot for the C.A.P. in Tahoe. Some of these have been posted before, other's haven't....but what the heck.... Enjoy!>All too rarely, airline attendants make an effort to make the in-flight "safety lecture" and announcements a bit more entertaining. Here are some real examples that have been heard or reported:______On a Southwest flight (SW has no assigned seating, you just sit where you want) passengers were apparently having a hard time choosing, when a flight attendant announced, "People, people we're not picking out furniture here, find a seat and get in it!"On a Continental Flight with a very "senior" flight attendant crew, the pi…

After 10 days without power, and 12 days without cable/internet, I'm finally back. The storm went directly over me. We got up to about 80 mph sustained winds here, with gusts to almost 100 mph. I spent the entire time outside in front of my house. The wind was unbelievable. With the rain blowing, it was quite hard to see at times. There were 1 or 2 times when the wind gusted that I about ran inside, but I stuck it out. How many people can say they went through a hurricane outside? :D The next day, I drove around the neighborhood to check the damage. There were trees down on every road. You had to drive under trees hanging from power lines. I can't believe how …

Hey allAbout a month ago I was playing FS2004, just flying about when suddenly the screen became messed up and my computer froze, I thought nothing of it and restarted my computer and played FS2004 again, all was fine. But after a few more times playing FS2004 the problem re-occured. This only happens to 2 games, FS2004 and Unreal Tournament 2004, all other games which use the 3D card are perfectly fine. A driver update does not solve this. Can you help? Many thanks!

I have a hard one for you guys. I was trying to install a much older program onto my XP machine and it will not install, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas that might help me. It has an old 16 bit installer and when I click on the SETUP.EXE file nothing happens, nothing at all. I have tried various compatibility settings and nothing seems to work, i.e. Win 95, Win 98, NT4.0, there is no change at all with any of the settings. I think that this program is an old flight sim program, but I am not sure as it is difficult to tell, so I thought that I would see for sure but I can't get it to even begin the installation. Does anyone have any experience with a 16 bit inst…

I spent the weekend in the Rockies west of Denver. The cabin I was at was in the approach path for DEN so I got to see quite a few planes passing overhead. Some of the heavies I observed (767 and 777) appeared to do what I percieved to be a fuel dump while descending. While I assume this is due to landing at a higher altitude airport along with favorable winds giving them better than expected fuel performance, perhaps someone else could enlighten me on whether this is common practice or not. It appeared to me almost every plane that had fuel dump capabilities was doing it.

I'm trying to get to an airshow soon and I think I read this somewhere that the Thunderbirds always open the show and the Bue Angels always close the show. Is this true? I won't make the start but if they close the show I'll see them!!Thanks for responding!

Julian,I don't know what your username is on here, so I can't send a message to you directly. I tried sending the Flight Unlimited 3 freeware to you, but this was impossible when using your normal e-mail address. Can you let me have your other address, so that I can send the stuff ?Best Wishes,Chris Low.

I no MYT are phasing their boeings out this fall, and many of their 757's are producing delays upon delays, so i thought…

I'm just curious if there's a difference in technique between flying a precision (CAT III) ILS glideslope vs a Visual one. My local airport, San Jose, California (KSJC) has currently got the precision runway (30L) closed for extension, forcing all flight to use the visual 30R instead. If you look at the attached jpeg, you'll see that the touchdown points for the two runways are very closely aligned, but it seems to me, driving on the freeway that passes the eastern end of the airport, that planes coming in are quite noticably lower on approach to 30R than they used to be on 30R.Is this normal - does ILS allow a higher approach until over the threshold?

  14. Imagine flying IFR and having to worry about your typical instrument scan - altitude, airpseed, etc. And to having to memorize aircraft preformance numbers like typical approach speed, stall speed, etc ? No more "tyranny of numbers".Well this OZ stuff invented by two PhDs from Florida with deep knowledge of neuro-psychology and human sensory vision promises all the above. It is currently being tested by NASA and the Navy. Some test pilot claim it could be the biggest revolution since Mr. Sperry invented artificial horizon 80 years ago.http://www.ihmc.us/research/projects/OZ_UC...edComputing.pdfMichael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg

I recently bought a new R/C boat... it's quite a bit of fun! However, I am looking into getting a couple of extra batteries so I dont have to wait 4 hours for only 20 minutes of use. The battery the boat uses is a 7.2v type... on the battery it says it is 1600 mAH. What my question is will higher mAH work, and also, will a higher mAH, say, 3000 mAH, make the run time longer? For example, the 1600mAH battery I have gives me about 20 minutes of run time, but if I were to use a 3000 mAH 7.2v battery pack, would that make my run time 30 or 40 minutes?

  17. My sister's local newspaper recently had an account of the last known F2A-1 Buffalo that was pulled out of a lake in Russia? Its pilot, a Finnish ace, was shot down in 1942. However, she noticed in the photo of the plane sitting in the lake that the aircraft had German swastikas on the wings and body of the plane. We were wondering why, since the US sold those planes to Finland after Russia invaded in 1939? Were they sold to Finland after Germany invaded Finland?Stan V.

Or, now that the story's out of the bag online, they'll probably just never air anything.)

This isn't really FS or aviation related, but i'm finding it annoying. My problem is that when a new IE window opens, it is really small and I have to either re-size or maximise it. How do I get it to open to a larger size or in maximised view. It was OK until the other day, but I just don't now how to get it to stay at a larger size :-)Thanks
