Hello,We got time with friend to visit Tallinn Airport few days ago and as he had a friend working as ATC that day, we got a chance to go to the tower and film it as well. We didnt have any tripod or other equipment with us so its a quite basic video, but maybe quite interesting to watch. Its 210MB so broadband strongly recommended!http://fsfiles.net/index.php?act=getfile&id=86096

For the last week or so the National Geographic Channel has been showing some shows on Airline disasters. Very interesting and a little scary to watch. Probably not the best thing to watch before you go flying off somewhere on vacation! It is unbelievable the amount of work that the NTSB does to find out the causes of these crashes. I cannot belive how hard it must be to reconstruct a airliner from millions of tiny pieces!I was very suprised at the DC-9/ MD80 etc.. T tail design. Basically it was said, it is one of the only Commuter aircraft that goes against the basic rules of designing an aircraft. The T tail design is not fail safe or does not have a back up feature de…

  6. In the US, do ATP pilots have more than 1 type rating and fly different type-rated equipment concurrently for airlines? With quick reactions required in complex aircraft, would concurrent multiple type-rated equipment be a liability for an airline? Thanks,Bruce.

I have a question about the default FS9 planes and their FDs versus the real world and even add-on counterparts.I've noticed when I fly a default Cessna that it's relatively easy to trim so you maintain +/- 50 FPM. So you can fly level without AP and aren't constantly fighting to stay where you want. I also noticed while flying along that the plane kinda bounces in the air. It's really slight and barely detectable, but appears to represent what I would think a small plane would do in the air. Now, when flying a similar plane (small GA) that is 3rd party the FDs are different in that you don't see that bounce and trimming level is a pain, if even really possible without …

Interesting new technology designed to replace ATC radar. Have a look at the videos here http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/pilotc.../sampleadsb.htmUses onboard equipment which collects a/c data ( position via GPS, altitude speed, etc) and transmits to ground station for ATC control. Much cheaper than current use of primary and secondary ATC radars.Barry

Real world air question or should I say observation!Just arrived back from Orlando on Virgin 747 (Pretty Woman) to Gatwick and as I am into Fs stuff the skymap is my constant companion through the 7.5 hour flight. Sad eh? Still it beat the movies on offer. I cannot watch Shrek or Cat in the Hat!How accurate are these skymaps?Reason I ask is that as we came over Southampton we were a comfortable 18K and bowling along at around 430 ground speed. We landed east/west runway and I think we tutned over Biggen. However the skymap showed us dropping to 8K but ground speed was at 410!Now I did look out window over wing and saw flaps air brakes and I am sure umberellas and para…

Passengers on a small commuter plane are waiting for the flight to leave. The entrance opens, and two men walk up the aisle, dressed in pilots' uniforms--both are wearing dark glasses, one is using a seeing-eye dog, and the other is tapping his way up the aisle with a cane. Nervous laughter spreads through the cabin; but the men enter the cockpit, the door closes, and the engines start up. The passengers begin glancing nervously around, searching for some sign that this just a little practical joke. None is forthcoming. The plane moves faster and faster down the runway, and people at the windows realize that they're headed straight for the water at the edge of the air…

Every Friday night I get to talk to a right seat pilot on Delta 737-800 who comes into a pub I frequent. He doesn't fly out 'til Tuesday following. He flies for Delta and he tolerates me talking about MSFS and all the airports I fly to and the various ILS' approaches, and the "trickiest" airports, etc. He flies into Denver regularly. He actually respects me for the knowledge I gained from MSFS, and can't believe I know as much as I know. So........we have some good conversations. He introduced me to a Captain tonight... who flies for American, and he was a really cool conversationalist. He flies the Caribbean route currently and flies an A-300 most of the time. Both he an…

  16. Posted just a minute or two ago:For those of you who have been around a while, you will remember the days when AVSIM ran an email list server system. Back in those days, this was a system based upon the "MAJORDOMO" list server software. It was buggy and not too secure. AVSIM is pleased to announce that as of today, we have brought a new list server system online, and are running it as a community wide support system. Now you can get sim related news and specialty topics sent directly to your email in-box. The new and more powerful system allows for much greater control than the previous system we ran, and we welcome groups who would like to have a email list system run on…

On the front page is an ad for a great new piece of software from gates.to. i thought I would have a look and it seems like a great add-on.Here is the problem though. I am not about to support a company that wants to have pop up ads appear on my sim while I'm flying. Here is what I found on their site. I won't buy anything from a company that wants to hijack my plane. if I'm reading this all wrong then tell me so I will stand corrected.=============================================AdWareYou know how important it is to let users know about your products and services. Ok ... here is what happened ... I installed a number of SCENERY files .... all correctly .... I added them to the library .... then I exited the FS2004 to restart it so that they can become operational .... as you all know .... this is the usual procedure ... BUT somehow .... the FS2004 just doesn't want to open ..... you get the first INTRO Page with the pic of the DC-3 where it says "A Century of Flight" and IT GETS STUCK THERE ... !!!!!! It doesn't want to move forward ..... The problem is that this happened once before ..... then I uninstalled the whole thing and reinstalled it fresh and then had to put back all my AI traffic, AFCAD, AI models and Scenery and it took…
