Hangar Chat
This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc. Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view. Went back in time last night and saw three classics. Christmas in Connecticut with Barbara Stanwick a romantic comedy full of mishaps. The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant, David Niven and Claudette Colbert. A delightful feel good movie. And Meet Me in St Louis with Judy Garland. A musical with great singing. Today these movies wouldn't make money. They don't fit into today's culture. They would be called boring and simple. No car chases. No violence. No guns. Just sit back and enjoy movies. Funny how time marches on and leaves you behind. Luckily there are relics of the past, like these movies, to make you feel good for a while. Noel

I can't remember a film getting such rave (positive) reviews right from the start, except possibly Top Gun Maverick. So MSFS associated with two winners apparently. Opened today in UK. March 1st in USA. I walked out on Dune 1. Only because the scenes were so dark I could not see what was happening for about 30 minutes at the end. I suspect that director's choice was to make the cgi and trick graphics easier to produce since most of the view was obscure. But based on early reactions, Dune II is a real winner!

It's not as drab and dreary as I thought it would be when I first got here. I still have my car so every other week I can go shopping for groceries and eat out at a local restaurant. And I am surrounded by women. I share a dining room table with 5 women. I am the only guy. I play BINGO twice a week and share a table with 3 women. I play poker once a week and of the four of us playing two are women. I play Skip Bo (a card game) on Saturdays and Sundays and there are 4 or 5 women and myself at the table. Yesterday these old ladies in wheelchairs and walkers started talking about male strip clubs they had been to and comparing notes. It got p…

This is a whole next level building flying models! I built mine out of balsa wood both framed and skinned with tissue paper using Cox engines. The only exception was Cox flying models made of plastic.

For those who have donated to MSFS freeware authors what would you say is a fair donations for; liveries, sceneries, utilities, etc.? Obviously, the amount is going to vary based on complexity and usefulness of the item and financial situation. I have donated in the past with both FSX and MSFS and used my own targets but doing a check-in to see how realistic I've been or should be. Also, if you're an author feel free to enter the conversation. Thanks, Ernie

Anyone who's used Edinburgh Airport with any regularity knows that it comes in for some criticism, particularly in regard to charging for almost anything they can get away with and for security queue delays. Now, to be fair, my experience is the latter issue has improved somewhat over the last few years but I felt a new owner might shake things up and turn it into an international airport to be proud of. So, when I saw the headline that the airport had a new owner, I was initially optimistic... until I read who it was: Paris-based Vinci, who own London Gatwick and Belfast International (aka Aldergrove). That's the same Belfast Int which regularly finishes low on airp…

TNG = The Next Generation with Captain Jean Luc Picard (1990's). Doctor Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) was fired after Season 1 (in the show they said she was moved to Starfleet Command). Missed all of Season 2. But came back restored in S3. But she was definitely fired, not a voluntary thing. (In the show her "son" is young Wesley Crusher in the middle, she's on the left). Anybody know why management booted her off (until they were forced by popular demand to bring her back)?

It's weight training " TOKYO (AP) — Here’s the message from Dr. Marcas Bamman, a physiologist with decades of research into aging who preaches the benefits of weight-resistance training for those who are getting up there". (his name reminds me of Bam Bam on the Flintstones, LOL). https://apnews.com/article/wellness-weight-training-seniors-resistance-exercise-aging-2b525d81b811fe8f9f23237cca1e89ca

I am getting tired of so many online news stories which begin by meandering around, trying to personalize the issue under discussion. Example. The headline link: Massive Range Rover Recall ! And when you click on it, the text begins: Matilda Fafoofnick and her partner Wilberforce were out... driving last week along the familiar but long winding motorway to Liverpool. It was a dark and stormy night but they were quite comfortable as the miles crawled by... And it's a full page later before we learn what is going wrong with Range Rovers and which models have been recalled. (this is just a made up example, not a real story)
