Hangar Chat
This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc. Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view. We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

Good day. Just watched those pilots of Garuda with engine failure landing into a very narrow river avoiding many bridges. Sully had it easy compared to those guys. Why are these other pilots not even recognised? Hollywood craze?

In days of yore when I used to fly commercial I always got a window seat so I could navigate. On my last commercial flight several years ago I was on a flight from Charleston SC to Dallas. I remember telling myself we should be crossing the Mississippi River about now. And sure enough a few minutes later it came into view. And on cloudy days just looking at the clouds was a treat. Now comes this! https://slate.com/life/2024/07/flying-is-better-with-an-open-window-shade.html Many years ago when I was still in the Air Force there was a little blurb in The Air Force Times about a B-52 crew on a check flight. The inspecting offiicer was being a bit harsh w…

I got a notification in my phone about something doubling (or even tripling) my framerate. After reading it, I saw it was about an app called Loseless Scaling: https://store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/ Looks like another FG mod. I posted it here instead of the MSFS forum, since it looks it could be used with other sims... which makes it even more interesting. I've gotta go to lunch with some friends, but after I return, I'll give it a try (it's just $3.50). But has anyone else tried it?

Once I turned seventy-five, I've begun falling apart. I was in the hospital twice for a severe lung infection, once for two peptic ulcers, and just this past week had my gallbladder surgically removed night before last! Fortunately, the on-call surgeon had blood drawn and was able to determine the cause of my low-level pain in my mid abdomen was the result of my gallbladder having been nearly double normal size and immediately got me into a surgical suite where he made seven small incisions from which he was able to perform laparoscopic surgery and remove the entire gallbladder easily. Not quite an hour passed from my entry into the ER and me being moved into a priva…

Last July 8, a United Boeing 757-200 from Los Angeles to Denver lost a wheel after takeoff which fell on an airport employee's car, fortunately without causing any injuries. Other pilots reported the wheel falling to the tower which then notified the crew of the United flight who decided to continue to Denver where after declaring an emergency they landed without further problems on 34L. This is the second wheel separation incident for United this year. In this video you can see, after takeoff from SFO, a wheel detaching from a United 777 headed to Osaka in March. The wheel fell in a car park, damaging several cars, but fortunately there were no inju…

Wrinkle is a duck born with a brooder at home and the "adoptive parents" on the internet are telling us with many videos of his surprising exploits around the States with his adaptation to the human world, his amazing sociability with the people who they meet her who greets by touching their hand with her beak or flaps her wings, she is not afraid of anything, they move her in a stroller and she is not on a leash when she walks in the street, on the subway, in shops and when she sits down to eat in fast food outlets food. She is the most photographed duck in the world and she became a star after her participation in the New York Marathon where she first became an int…

...goes to the bathroom but accidentally opens an emergency door and activates the slide. It happened in China on an Air China flight in the eastern city of Quzhou while the plane was waiting for takeoff. Perhaps, given the frequent cases of accidental opening of emergency doors mistaken for bathrooms, the solution could be this:😁 https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune.org-vbulletin/900x592/yorkshire_airlines_ae27d64608d91c848e9ca97db05ff687bf52984a.jpg
