I already scheduled an appointment for HD Lasik surgery and I'm going to return to training for my private pilot's license soon and want to get my instrumental rating as well because I want to fly at night as well. Now the thing that concerns me is my night vision after the HD Lasik and how the flap will affect my vision and lifestyle. Any pilots here that had Lasik or HD Lasik?

Anyone heard about that Cessna Citation crash in Houston??? If I'm not mistaken isn't that the first crash for this Cessna type since they've been in production. I think this was the same Citation model type Eaglesoft did (if I'm not mistaken)...

hi allDoes anyone know if the ailerons droop when the flaps are extended on the DHC-3 Otter? They do on the Beaver (18 degrees with full flap) and I guess it might be logical to assume that they do on the Otter but does anyone know for sure?; and if so by how much? Thanks,Roger

I just got back from flying my Baron down to the Aopa expo in Tampa, Florida . I am glad to report the Microsoft had an extremely nice exhibit of MS2004 there. I met some of the Microsoft authors there and was taken with the fact that they were real world pilots, glowing with enthusiasm for both real flying and simulating, and were obviously really great people. No "Micro$oft" company- just real people that are obviously enthusiastic about real flying and simming, and happen to work for a big company that has probably positioned itself where it is, by employing such optimistic, creative, and enthusiastic persons!Last night after our second long day at the expo I and a fe…

I am considering joining AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association). I read that they offer quite a few tools for navigation, some tutorials and more in-sight into real-world aviation. I used to be a member years and years ago during my student pilot year, but I haven't been in quite some time. What do you think?

I just a couple of days ago bought the Iron Knuckles DC-9 package for FS. The panel is pretty good and is "hardcore" with no GPS or FMC, etc. Makes the flying experience very different from the modern glass cockpit.Anyways while DC-9's in real life still retain a virtually 100% steam gauge analog cockpit, I looked on airliners.net at cockpit photos of DC-9's still in operation today and noticed that a few of the instruments have been upgraded to modern-day standards. I would like to modify my DC9 panel to reflect these changes as well. The two big changes that I notice are the installation of a TCAS system and also a modern-day navigation aid.To that end, I have downl…

Maybe someone can shed some light on this.FLYING mag describes an accident in which a 25,000 hour professional pilot joined a flying club and on one of his flights in a rented C172 did a 3-bounce landing that sheared the nose gear and he ultimately nosed over. They said he only had 25-hour experience in "small general aviation airplanes" and had no single engine land rating. What kind of planes was he flying for airlines if he did not have "single engine land" rating ? Clearly in order to have multi-engine rating you must first have the single engine one. In order to run you first have to to walk. What is going on here ?Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/r…

Today(9 November 2005 of Hong Kong Time),the Boeing 777-200LR commence her first world from Hong Kong. When I went to work in Air Mai Center,I saw the bird taxiing to the southern runway(25L),ready to take off.The plane was in a very sharp house color with the number "777" on here tail.Unlucky for me that I didn't have the camera that time.Despite that, the LR was the most wonderful bird I have seen before.

I really want to keep a journal of my training, and I figure I might as well post it here for any of you current/future pilots/friends that would like to read it...So, Last weekend I made my first real landing- However, it was very, very controlled and my instructor helped a few times since there was some real wind.Yesterday, I was scheduled to fly at 1600 local, which is well before work is over, and on top of that I wasn't feeling the best. A bit of a sore throat, but no sinus pressure (no flying with that!). I had planned on cancelling, but cancelling this late they would charge a fee, so I figured what the ####- The sky was coming in, and 1600 didn't leave much da…

A very recent discovery of his burial place allowed scientists to recreate the way he looked at age of 70 - when he died. It was always well know that he must have been buried below the altar in the Frombork cathedral (in Poland) but since there were so many skeletons there no one knew who was who. They want to locate the body of his uncle and his brother and do DNA tests but the scar above the right eye and his age - 70 (few people in the 15-th century lived that long) seems to confirm that this must be him. Can all ILS (Cat I/II/III) approaches be flown with dual AP and autothrust or are there restrictions? Or is it generally advisable to fly only Single AP, except for CAT III?Also, when is the decision made which ILS approach to choose? Thanks.
