Was out at McCarran (KLAS) the other night doing some spotting. Saw a DHL 727 landing on 25L the same time as a Champion Air 727 was leaving out on 25R. Was cool to see some Boeing history on parallel runways.

This questione was asked in an AOPA news letter. Also what price would you curtail flying?,and whats the future of Avgas?. My reply was $6.per gal for avgas. However I use Auto fuel.So its more like $ 4.00.As to the future of avgas? Well at these rates,we will go black market and get it in old 3liter wine bottles.Which is an international practice . I guess kidding aside, its a serous question.Ditto for our nautical friends. And if your toys include both? ,plus two cars?, a large ridding tractor?,a couple of teenagers?or gas guzzling grand kids?Well its a struggle. Too gloomey to conjecture, CHEERS! PASS THE KOOL-AID! :-beerchug

Hi :)I'm not criticizing uploaders, but "thumbs.db" files shouldn't be included in your uploads :). Some of these files are up to 2.3MB in size :-eek.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/130495.jpgOver 50 thumbs.dbs were in another upload! Is this really necessary? These "system files" waste a lot of bandwidth, so please remove them or check before you upload your files :).Thanks! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v615/Dar...humbsupblag.gif

This is probably a dumb question, but I was planning an fs2004 flight between DFW and ATL. I used the routefinder website (http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/) to generate a flightplan, and it only gave me one point between the airports, even though that is a fairly long distance. I figured out that the SID from DFW and the STAR from ATL meet, so you can fly the full sid and then immediately join the star at atl. The DFW SID:Dallas Eight http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/0510/06039DALLAS.PDFThe ATL STAR:La Granfe One Arrival http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/0510/00026LAGRANGE.PDFThey both intersect at the Meridian VOR (MEI). Now my question, would this be a real flightplan followed by …

http://wired.com/news/medtech/0,1286,69157...tw=wn_tophead_3is YASAAF (yet another story about Asian Flu)My thoughts, based upon what I've read about preparation here and elsewhere, are that a flu pandemic will be like Hurricane Katrina...we can plan and prepare all we want (and we should, or the finale will look like N.O. vs. Galviston), but the outcome will still be costly, and in the end, there's not much you can do to fight Mother Nature when she decides to come out on this scale and magnitude.Thoughts?bt

Hi,I've ordered the VIR B747-400 DVD from ITVV a week ago, and although I received an e-mail confirmation, I've yet to see my card charged or receive my DVD. Does anyone know anything about this? I've contacted ITVV via e-mail and there has been no response. Had absolutely no problem several months ago when I ordered the Concorde DVD, and received it extremely fast. Does anyone know if something is going on at ITVV, and have others here ordered in the past week and received their product/had their credit card charged? I would be more concerned if my card was charged and no product received, but I am curious. Please advise...Tim

Here's a video of my training flight last week... reviewed emergency procedures. I only have about 6 hours of training... but thanks to flight sim "self-training", I've aced my training thus far... most of my sessions turn out to be demonstrations of my knowledge/ability. Pretty exciting stuff :) Next flight will be on Tuesday... we will be doing nothing but pattern work... which I do need lol. I will bring the camera along for this one as well and you guys will get to see that one too :)HIGH RES (Near-DVD Quality) - Warning: 212 MB!http://idratherbeflying.net/Videos/FlightOct82005.wmvLOW RES - 6.6 MBhttp://idratherbeflying.net/Videos/ShortFlightOct82005.wmvP.S. http://www.news4jax.com/news/5082316/detail.htmlA Citation VII turned up at Briscoe Field outside Atlanta overnight Saturday. Nobody knows who flew it in from St. Augustine. It just appeared, flying in overnight when the tower was closed, and perfectly fine except for some leading-edge damage to one wing.Guess somebody decided hot-wiring a car wasn't enough, they needed to jack a $7 million bizjet instead...Lewis "Moose" GregoryRichmond, Virginia

Hi everyone-Just picked this up over at another aviation message board. Has anyone else seen this on the news? This guy stole a citation jet and flew is buddies up to Atlanta. What does this have to do with FS2004, you ask? Didn't he make a citation for MSFS? There are reports he was an active controller on VATSIM too. Once again, some one embarrasses the simulation community.Link to news media:http://www.wxia.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=70421Link to real world aviation message board about the topic:http://forums.flightinfo.com/showthread.php?t=64120Mike

Hi all, can someone explain to me the purpose of a no flap takeoff? I notice that this is quite common on the Fokker F-100, but Im sure other planes perform a no flap takeoff. I have also notice some pics at Airliners.net showing a 737 taking off with 1 notch of flaps when I think usually they use 5 degrees. Thanks,Bill

Ummm...this sounds a really silly question but I just had to ask it http://jm.g.free.fr/smileys/cute_smileys/ermm.gifAt really busy airports (O'Hare, Heathrow ,Hong Kong etc.) are the pilots of turboprop/piston/STOL planes such as Saab 2000, Caribou, ATR, D328, ATP & Fokker 50 usually directed by ground control to perform an intersection depature to speed things up (because those planes need much less runway than the heavies)?I know theres nothing more useless on the ground than runway behind you & that the Captain has the last word but do controllers generally direct such planes to do intersection departures instead of full-length?Would be interesting to me to he…

Hi all,I'm thinking about starting a Virtual GA Flying Club, but I'm stuck on the location. Has anybody got any ideas for the most interesting, tricky, rewarding, best looking or fun GA area and airfield? Ideally, I want to use default FS2004 scenery (certainly to begin with).I'm open to all suggestions....CheersDave
