There's a scam going around where people are receiving emails claiming their account has been accessed and validation is required by the customer...I've had everyone from PayPal (which I hardly use) to Wells Fargo who I have no account with send me emails. The catch is to get you to give your account info and credit card pin number (actually that's the smoking gun that made me question the validity of the email). You may have legitimate accounts with companies like Amazon.com but beware of these emails that will send you to a non-secure website asking you to enter in your personal finance info. I've seen this scam with a few of my friends as well, it looks really legit…

For now the web interface has been banned (again) from accessing the main Avsim IRC channel. This after repeated and continuous abuse by a small group of people (and I use the term loosely).Access through regular IRC clients is still available, but will possibly be restricted to be invite-only if these persons come back.I'd hate to have to ask the site administrators to end this service.

I read this article earlier on about a baby born in the back of a helicopterhttp://www.dailypost.co.nz/storydisplay.cf...condsubsection=It made me think to when i had my first flight... Like the story above it was by helicopter, but fortunatly i was 3 weeks old being taken to see grandparents!! The first flight i can remember was when i was about 5 years old, flying on the very same helicopterDo you remember your first flight, or when you were first taken on an aircraft?RgdsAidihttp://www.avsim.com/pages/0100/avsim_sig.jpg

Has anyone heard the fabulous Pod Cast of the converstaion between Captain of right angled nose wheel Jet Blue, and ground crew?Listen in to :- http://joepodcaster.libsyn.com/index.php?p...883&comments=onThis guy can Captain me anytime....classic lesson on Leadership!!Of course, old chestnut applies, aircrew are first at scene of accident, so concentrates the mind somewhat!Still brilliant flying/landing, apparently he worked out that putting on airbrakes(?) is a bad idea, because if wheel was indeed right angled (It was), brakes would push aircaft forward onto offending wheel. Not a great idea in his circumstances!

An old WW2 aircraft bomb, probably fused for explosion, was just found near the 36L-18R runway at Schiphol airport, causing disruption of air traffic. It is feared the device may be sensitive to vibrations from aircraft landing or taking off so the runway is closed until it can be removed. From 0600 local today the runway is closed, only 2 instead of 3 runways will be used until the bomb has been cleared which will likely take most of the day.

  12. http://online.wsj.com/public/article/0,,SB....html?mod=blogsTo follow up on my previous post on how we failed New Orleans. There was failure. At every level, no one is exempt from accountability for failure during the intial Katrina efforts. On the other hand, there are differing levels of culpability. Local government was the most culpable, because they had feet on the ground from day one and before. The federal government's blame lies clearly at the fed's inability to get good Intel. And while we are talking about Intel failure, (you know, like "Iraq...no WMD?") the biggest blame for Intel failure around Katrina lies clearly own our own Mainstream Media's doorstep. The h…

Hi all, has anyone ever tried the demo version of AirNav Suite 4, the almost realtime flight tracking and monitoring software. It looks very good. I have not been able to find an answer to a burning question on the help pages, that being, why does no traffic ever show up in Australia (Domestic and international) All of Asia, Russia, and Africa and Europe? There must be some traffic flying in those areas. It seems like a good product, generous trial period. Just wondering why? Cheers Chris

For some time now I have been downloading planes. Both pay/free ware.Like some kid in a toy store ,my eyes just stay wide open.Never met a flying machine I did not like. While many look fine, and are visualy faithful reproductions of a particular model.Yet many leave a lot to be desired in the air.Ultimately the question is "How does it Fly"?Other than looks, and you can get depictions of planes anywhere, and hang them on he wall, you have to come back to the primary feature of a simulator."Does it do a credible job of flying,as near as the real plane you have on your monitor? You can factor in a lot of requirements, and features, but in the end ,"How does it fly"? I now am in th…

Looking at the RAF repaints for the Aerosim Tristar, and thinking back to the last Gulf War a couple of questions arroused my curiosity:1) What problems, if any, arise from using tanker aircraft from 'somebody else's airforce?'2) Since one of the aircraft re-paints was of an aircraft previously owned by PAN AM , would such a sale have been classed as an overseas arms sale, or just a normal aircraft sale?Just having a curiosity attack!!!Grum

Hey all... just wanted to share my excitment. After dreaming about it for so long, I've finally started taking flight lessons. I recently got a job that pays enough for me to fly. I looked at a couple of places, and decided on Memley Aviation at KFCH. Thanks to flight sims, I've been a natural right off the bat. My instructor is amazed that I'm flying so well. She was shocked and was telling the other instructors that I only had about 4.5 hours but I flew like I had several times that much experience. I now have 5.7 hours. It's going slow though... I can only do about one flight per week at this point. It's going really awesome though... I'm really flying through my lesso…

Your car doors will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you.Distance is no object you could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you …
