What a great story! An excellent insight into corporate mentallity. http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=224813 P.S. Warning, A long post. I agree with Danny's desision to pull the thread, and Iam awaiting PPRUNES release of it's data. To Quote Danny, "Operating to the same set of safety regulations in itself is not the only criteria that should be looked at. It's the same old adage about accountants, they know the price of everything but the value of nothing. We here at PPRuNe are trying to highlight the effects that different corporate cultures can have in a safety critical industry. Does corporate culture and the fallibility of human factors have an influence o…

Okey I've been trying to track down the float biplane used in the movie the Phantom 1996. It's got quite a few plot holes in it but the aircraft scenes are really pretty good. All most all the aircraft in the movie are water based. Making for some great flight action..Any help would be appreciated. No doubt about it...Ronson2k

Hi, somehow my laptop managed to get some adware/viruses yesterday :-mad I keep running my virus scans using Norton, and windows defender. I've also got a program called CClean to remove stuff, but no matter what I do it still remains even though the scanners say they have removed all traces. Also they are up to date with the latest definitions. I've done a bit of looking around and it may be something to do with my registry. I'm not to confident in messing around with this, so is there any program, or what is the best program for tinkering with the registry?NB. edited to adjust subject name

Hello all!I went on vacation recently to Asia and returned on an A330-200 (I do not want to mention the airlines name). While taxying out at CCU (Kolkata, India) there were a number of REALLY loud noises coming from beneath the airplane. I was seated right over the wing. These noises were loud and they went CLANK-CLANK-BAM....CLANK-BAM....CLONK CLONK CLONK..BAM http://www.nextgenerationrecords.co.uk/boa...es/icon_eek.gifI have *never* heard such a racket in my life on a taxying airliner and fellow pax and I waved to an FA who told us not to worry about it. The noises were loud enough that I felt faint vibrations in my seat. The cabin crew did'nt seem in the least bit affect…

I was using aerotransport.org to run a search in Singapore airlines, and found a link saying they were utilisng the Fokker F.27.Following the link, I reached this page:http://www.aerotransport.org/php/go.php?qu...gapore+AirlinesI do not recall SQ using the Fokker aircraft, so it must of being used somehwere in the early 70's when Singapore Airlines was first established.Does anyone know where I can get any photographic evidence of this?I would love to see a SQ F.27!

Hi all: Several months ago one of our resident Professional Pilots, and I'llbe darned if I can remember which one, made the comment that Truck Drivers had more favorable "Hours of service" regulations than Pilotsdid. Now being one of the aforementioned Truck Drivers I was real curiousabout that. However by the time I got around to posting a query Icouldn't find the thread anymore. So, I'd really enjoy a response to this, as if this is really true I'mgoing to have to "Go Greyhound" from now on:-lol All Transportation crew members, in the U.S., operate under some sortof Gov't mandated Maximum hours of service. Although the company youwork for usually considers it to b…

For those of you who follow such stuff - and especially for those of you who invest, and perhaps like what MS has coming up such as FS and Vista...Microsoft (MSFT) is currently at a 52-week low. It's about $23 a share. That's "sale" to you and me. Well, to me, anyway ;)Keep in mind that MS is progressing with FS into new territory that includes less traditional flight simmers.Just saying. This message should not be misconstrued as financial advice, but, rather, to highlight a little personal exitement... :) So make your own decisions.---Andrew

Does anyone have any comments aboout World Air Routes and their DVDs. I wonder about quality, etc. I am curious because of the Avsim's front page headline announcing the release of their WestJet 737-700 DVD that I might consider to purchase. I never heard of the WAR before. Thanks.Michael J.

I've visited BUR, LAX, LGB, FUL...etc., etc. I usually just go to the very top of the closest parking structure, park, then shoot photos & watch the planes take-off & land. I'd like to go to SNA this weekend. Anyone have a recommendation as to which parking structure is best for viewing? Or any other spot around the airport? The 405 off ramp at the end of the runway would be great, however, I don't think the CHP would appreciate that, lol. Thanks in advance!-=MAB=-

Just read the first sentence... I would tend to disagree with this."A motion platform is a type of amusement ride with a seating platform remaining parallel to the ground while being moved in a circular motion along a vertical plane."Wha?I'm not saying it has to say anything about flight simulation, but I think it should be a little more comprehensive...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_platform------Andrew

Sorry to single you out Jeroen, but you seem better educated on energy issues from your past posts on the subject than many.I wanted to hear your take on a couple of "alternate" energy sources being thrown about as a means of getting the U.S. out of it's latest energy mess--biodiesel and Ethanol based fuel. You seem to have a better handle on the economics of this. I've read about these fuels, but no one seems to be discussing the question of whether we (the U.S.) can produce them in enough quantity to really put a dent in gas/diesel use.I'd also be curious whether biodiesel could ever be engineered for use on jets, and whether Ethanol or E-85 could ever be used on pist…

Hi Guys,Are any of you guys looking forward to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots (MGS4) on the PS3? And are any of you looking forward to the PS3 in general?I'm a very big fan of the MGS series since a very long time, and of course I'm very much looking forward to the release of MGS4. A brand-new MGS4 trailer was shown today at E3, with amazing previews of how the characters and game environments will look like.Regards,

Hi.I have found some cheap tickets to London on Nation Expressso as I have nothing else to do I thought I might take a tripdown to LHR for some spotting as well as a look around London. Is Myrtle Avenue the best place for spotting at LHR when the 27runways are in use? I have heard a lot of people rave about it and it sounds like it might be fairly easy to get to by bus, is that right? If its at the end of a residential street in suberban London is it safe to stand around on your own there? Friends say that you can easily get attacked in these areas, lots of dodgy peole around. Is this the case at Myrtle Av? I plane on going at a weekend so I guess there may be other peole …

I was looking at my IFR High Altitude charts for the northeast (which also shows Canadian airspace. It gives you the altitude restrictions for the US and Canada. My question is this: Since Canada doesn't follow the RVSM, how do you file the cruising altitude if you are going through or terminating in Canada? For example, let's say that I'm going from Boston to Minneapolis, some paths take you through Toronto FIR. You file 340, but Canada doesn't recognize that, so do you file FL340 and FL350 or do you stick with FL340? Do you then fly at FL340 and when you reach Canadian airspace, do you climb or descend to the appropriate altitude? Thanks.
