Other than for fuel reasons, I understand why some airlines choose the 777 over the 747 (in the case of US airlines). I was reading an article about the 747-8 and realized that Continental has only a 777 in it's long-haul category, so I am kind of curious, why not 747? I know Continental ventured into the 4 engine market years ago with the -200 model I believe, but discontinued it. I understand the fact that the thief known as Lorenzo took the airline into financial hardships, and ultimately destroyed Eastern (but that's another point). Does anyone think that Continental is a viable customer for the 747-8? If not, why?-completely out of curiosity-

Took the bike on the 1st ride of the year today. Here in CYWG the temp is about 18F or -12C with lots of snow around. The roads though are clear. It was cool but I have an electric vest and was warm. Nice to be out on the bike.JimCYWG

So I'm just watching an episode of John Doe on Scifi - he's on a plane - ostensibly a transatlantic non-stop.Takeoff is represented by the gear of a 747 LANDING and a 767 or 777 climbing outCruise is represented at various points by a dc8, 747, and 727Landing looks like a 777Now really, REALLY - sure I'm an aviation buff and most average viewers care more about the characters and story, but are average persons taken for COMPLETE idiots?? :-roll :-lolI won't mention the 'flight deck'regards,Markhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1024mb/X700pro256

Hi there,I was just watching the news on the CBC, an they started talking about TCAS, which is not required on aircraft in Canada. Naturally, any aircraft which flys to the US has it installed, which mostly leaves smaller private and regional aircraft that don't have it installed here in Canada. They mentioned that TCAS was required on ALL aircraft flying in the US. Can someone confirm this? Does that include small private aircraft, or is it restricted to commercial aircraft? Thanks a bunch.- Martin

How possible is it to go from getting a PPL and whatever other required certificates to getting a job with some small freighter outfit, maybe flying cessnas, or FO of a 1900c or something. Are there any smaller companies that will hire you right away, or do all of them look for 500-1200 hrs? So my only choices would either be, buy all of my time or become a CFI first? Thanks

Hi,I have uploaded a sound pack option for the firefly. It adds some sounds to the firefly and shuttle via Orbitersound.Orbitersound is required for it to work. It's an option and if you don't used orbitersound you really don't need it.I also fixed some minor bugs I found while doing the sound option so you may want it just for those fixes.Bugs fixed:Holo-guides no longer come on if the docking cradle has something docked to it.F8 now works properly to get rid of the cockpit graphics.**Note**I also noticed that I forgot the config files in the "Shuttle Option" add-on so I uploaded a new version that includes the missing files. Sorry about that little slip up.Later,Jon

Can someone help me to identify this aircraft please. I believe it is canadian military.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/144491.jpgAnd before anyone guesses the obvious, the wing is tapered. I Twin Otter's wing is squared. It does however, sort of look like it might be a fixed tricycle, but I can't tell for sure.

Hi guysLast december, the only aircraft in the fleet of 'Air Nauru', boeing 737-400 registered VH-RON was seized by the american bank because they have not paid for over 4 years, or so i am told. The taiwanese government has assisted the airline purchase a new 737. Does anyone know what series this is going to be. I am assuming most likely a 737-700 or -800?Thanks

This may seem a bit silly but I would like to know if it is feasible to completely redo the panel on a Cessna Skymaster 337 Pressurized and use the same style panel and avionics in the new Cessna 206 turbo (http://turbostationair.cessna.com/avionics.chtml) This question of for real world aircraft. I would go into explaining why I want to know this but I have decided to spare the AVSim Readers :)Thank youJason G.http://online.vatsimindicators.net/940901/4398.png

Okey with the releace of CanarySim 2006 I wanted to find out if there are any small aircraft that or working the skys over the real Canary Islands. In as much as the Twin Otter specifically. I've looked (very hard) to find info on small aircraft (Island Hopping) to see if there are any small carriers working in the Canary Islands. Reason being - the scenery is so great (newest release) it would be great to get close enough to appreciate it (with out being in something huge). It's at the end of this search I'm asking the question of the FSC. I've gotta think there is some Twin Otters over these islands. It's the perfect airplane for the job.. Any help appreciated. No doubt a…

Flying around the C208 from Feelthere, which I enjoy a lot, I was wondering, how do those guys fly this airplane around when the weather is bad? if you have to go through clouds, do you just climb to shed off the ice buildup? Those guys are nuts!! I'm trying to find out the proper procedures for flying in my hopes of one day becoming a freighter pilot like that. Thanks

Was reading a computer magazine in the store and was looking at reviews of LCD projectors. Got me wondering...imagine FS9 taking up an entire wall ...wooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!Have any of you done this....was it nice? :) The things are still frightfully expensive (and so are the spare bulbs). It will be a long time before I get one.
