http://www.ecrans.fr/spip.php?article193Yesterday, Monday, Microsoft France had organised a presentation show of FSX for the press. For the occasion MS had appointed 4 helicopters. One of them crashed right after take off, fortunately without serious injuries. One of the newsmen, sitting next to the pilot said that a red light went on, signaling a hydraulic failure. The pilot could keep his machine stable down to about 10m (~30ft) and then the rear rotor had a problem. The helo spinned down to the ground. One man was ejected during the crash, but apprarently no one had serious injuries.J.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgium

Landor is unquestionably the best livery on the British Airways planes, still I just found this peculiarity:"BA suggested that the previous "Landor" scheme carried an air of arrogance and detachment, and insisted that the new tailfins were very popular with international travellers. "?????http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Airways_ethnic_liveriesI just don't get it.....

Hey, This maybe the wrong place to post, so moderators please move/delete if need be. Over the past few months I have been working on a website.. I'd never made my own website before, only helped out with VA sites a little when I was a Chairman / Manager, and I found it rather interesting so I decided to set myself a little challenge to build myself a little FS related website for the community. I wanted a website which could bring simmers together by use of a forum, a dedicated teamspeak server, and more! So.. here were are after just under 2 months, (not solid work though!!) with nearly the final product. The web address is http://www.jonbrown.co.nr . The teamspeak serv…

I really like what has been done with the ATR and 767 versions of FS2 Crew. I was wondering if the 737 version is going to be upgraded to incoorporate the same controls? I did like the menu based interaction, but the main and secondary keys make it more realistic for me. Just an idea that was percolating.

I have been tempted to make a machinima film with a late model luftwaffe a/c complete with a heavy metal soundtrack.I need a high quality Tornado, EF2000 or Mig that has excellent vc and 2d panel. I would prefer it to be free but would consider a payware. Here is a little fun film that I did a couple of weeks ago for my 2 1/2 year old aeroplane mad daughter. The film was a first for me because it was my first 'chroma' film!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgqYUdTd7FY Does anyone know or have an opinion on the best model for this project? I have downloaded a couple of Tornado's but they were either crap or didn't have a decent cockpit.let me know?

I landed one of my dream jobs this last week... I was hired by SkyWest as a Ramp Agent!I went through a week-long training session last week and I passed with high scores (all of my many tests were over 95% with the exception of one, which was 92%).I start tomorrow (mainly getting uniforms, badges, confirming security clearance, etc). I am very excited! It's too bad that I just moved here because I missed that Avsim conference last year when it was here. This has really been a pretty great year as far as acheivements go... not only did I get a job I've always wanted, but I also got my pilot certificate in August. Well I just wanted to share my excitement with you all!

We all know about the airline flight tracking websites. However, I came accross this and was a bit blown away. I know high seas shipping like I know the back of your hand - had no idea there was this kind of density.I would think that if one had a problem at sea, it would not be too hard to find someone in the area to help out. Yes, I know, a big area but still...http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shiplocations.phtmlmake sure you click on the image for zooming in.Tom, not really aviation related, please feel free to delete if you want.

I'm having a hard time putting together a couple of facts I've read separately. First, I know that every wing has a critical angle of attack above which laminate airflow ceases and it stalls. This AoA is unaffaceted by weight, air density, temp, wing loading, and anything else one can think of. On the other hand, stall speeds vary with real weight or wing loading (such as conferred by extreme manuevers). For a given aircraft, the lighter it is the slower the airspeed at which it will stall and the heavier it is(real or through g-force) the higher speed it will stall. Why is this? For example, assume a pilot is flying straight and level at a fixed AoA relative to the…

Could someone explain to me what a turbo-prop is?,....is it a jet engine with propellers on the front?,if so what about the response time to the throttle"is it more immediate like a prop-piston engine?,or does it still lag behind like a pure jet?
