  2. I just completed formatting all the TACs for the US (including Alaska and Puerto Rico) to be visible in Google Earth. There are two versions of the maps, an online version and an off line version. The off line version has much faster tile load times and higher resolution than the online version. But you'll need about 15-20 megs of hard drive for each map that you want to use off-line.You can download them here: http://www.topomaps.fox-fam.com/I'm in the process of doing all the Sectionals (including Alaska this time) in this same format. Now If I could just find someone with a large format scanner, I could do the Enroute Charts.Matt

I am resisting the strong temptation to buy the Seneca II. I am sure it's a great product but I have been scared off by the rabid anti-piracy measures that I have heard of. I am rapidly outgrowing my hard drive and the last thing I need is a comercial dev not letting me reinstall a legitimately purchased aircraft.Thank you Avsim for the forums where devs reputations are made or broken; without them I never would have known.Best regards, Donald Traill:-beerchugFLYing? Hello all,After watching some real life flight videos, I noticed that some planes, especially 737s and A320s had what looked like yellow handles on the top of the wings. The ones on the A320s look bigger, does anybody know what these are for? Thanks,David

Hi,I installed this a few weeks ago and, on the whole, it appears to be quite stable and reasonably straightforward to customize and navigate. However, this experience does not seem to be shared by many others who have been posting on the Internet. The grief being experienced would be quite alarming and would certainly have put me off installing it had I not done this already! However, I have encountered one issue. I am assuming this to be a bug, in which case I can't for the life of me understand why it was not encountered and corrected during beta testing:If you have a number of tabs open while closing IE7 a window pops up asking the user: 'Do you want to close all tabs?…

The Russian ex-spy and dissident Alexander Litvinenko died last week in suspicious circumstances in London as a result of poisoning by radio-active Polonium-210. Police investigating his death have found traces of radio-activity of two of British Airway's aircraft that had been on recent services to and from Moscow. A third aircraft has been taken out of service in Moscow and is being flown back to the UK for tests. As a result, BA is having to contact some 33,000 passengers and about 3,000 crew who have recently flown on these aircraft between between 25 October and 29 November with a view to checking their health. It is said that the health risk is thought to be low.http…

I live in Pensacola, Florida (the North West part of Florida) and I have on several occassions seen EasyJet 737's at cruise altitude heading due East or due West. I thought that they must be going to Los Angeles or something, but I just checked their website and it looks to me as if they don't make any stops in the US.So, any idea where these airplanes that I've seen are headed?

  12. Well, since all we did was pattern work, I will skip most of the repetitive stuff. On a side note, my instructor told me to take my pre-solo written, and he said it's going to happen pretty soon! So I must be doing alright. So I got there about 4 and headed out to preflight the plane. The sun was pretty low so I knew this was going to be at least a dusk flight. He said maybe we'd do some ground reference stuff, but by the time we got out taxi clearance it was getting dark, and that would be no fun. It was calm out too, so that makes ground reference stuff kind of moot. So, we just did about 8 or 9 touch and gos, and the last 5 or so were pretty much in total darkness! …

In the UK, and many other countries, practically all the information needed about aerodromes can be obtained from a single source through their Aeronautical Information Packages (AIPs). These are created to an ICAO standard and are very convenient because many authorities post this information on their websites (often free). For anyone not familar with them, AIPs comprise a text document as well as all the aerodrome charts. The standard sections in the text document are:- Aerodrome Geographical and Administrative Data- Operational Hours- Handling Services and Facilities- Passenger Facilities- Rescue and Firefighting Services- Seasonal Availability - Clearing- Aprons, Taxi…

Hi All,I just went to the navdata web site, and noticed that we now have to pay for the airacs,sids-stars etc, fair enough as the guy spends his own time making them for us.but, I just went to register so I could use the service, and got this message every time, Error (-103): Cannot create account. Undefined database errorand I noticed that you can only use a credit card / pay-pal account, but what about the people that don't have a credit card, not everyone has one do they! Thanks,

Hey Guys, I'm a long time flight simmer. I'm running into a problem with my hardware and figured I'd see if anyone knew where to find what I need.My Saitek x45 Flight Stick and Throttle is great, and I would upgrade to the new x52, but I don't like the feel of it as well as this one. My problem is the suction cup feet I've used for years are trashed. I cannot find where to purchase more. They don't sell them as accessory parts on the Saitek website. I tried ebay with no luck either. I only need eight, but they do have to have the "T" to lock them in place. Does anyone know where I might find some more of these?I appreciate the help!

  21. Thought it would be interesting to see what you all thought on this matter.I feel that the A380 & 787 are the pinnacle of conventional "tube with wings sticking out" designs - at least when it comes to the two major commercial aircraft manufacturers.I think that the sucessors to these two planes (probably already on the CAD & CATIA screens of both companies) will be blended wing-body designs.http://www.twitt.org/bwb1.jpgI feel that in our lifetimes we will certainly see this next generation of airplanes take flight. The only disadvantage for us airplane nuts will be....a reduced number of windows!!!!Noooooo http://www.nextgenerationrecords.co.uk/boa...es/icon_eek.g…

Well, after almost a year hiatus due to A) Being broke :( Have a small baby & 2 year oldI decided things have gotten back to the point where I could start flying again. You see, my wife got a big promotion so it will feel good spending HER money for once! Plus, my kids are now 3 & almost 2, so they are less work (but still alot!).Anyway, after booking several lessons over the last few months and having them all cancelled due to weather, I finally got a good morning. Since my old instructor left (suprisingly, he's now in marketing, and only teaching as a part time job- he had no interest in flying for a living, but managed to rack up 2,000 hours by the time he w…

Who on earth has started locking topics on this subject. More importantly - WHY?A very interesting thread was posted yesterday showing performance related graphs from another review site.Went back today and it's locked. No reason given! If you're going to lock threads Avsim, then have the common decency to explain why you're doing so.This smacks of censorship.BC
