So anyone here planning to watch ABC's new series Pan Am ? This is the inevitable jump to a 60's period show after the success of Mad Men. The Playboy Club is the other series trying this theme. I might give it a go but the first time I see a 747-200 flight deck that looks like a 727 or I see pilots flying a 747 but then see an L1011 landing I will be done....I really hate that lack of attention to detail in tv shows and movies. http://abc.go.com/shows/pan-am Mark.

Don't mean to start a WAR here....but I'm truly amazed that 2004 is still out there and still gets so many uploads. I've been doing FSX since the first day it was introduced, and within 2 days I deleted FS2004. To me, there is just no comparison when comparing the graphics and scenery. I certainly respect those that have "hung on" to the old FS, but I wonder if those users REALLY know what they're missing?FSX is so cool, and so close to the real deal, that I cannot ever imagine going back. Am I missing something here? Stan

I was truly saddened today when I heard Steve Jobs' death. He was an incredible man. He turned the ugly computer world into something beautiful. Everyone in the world will remember him. “I want to express my deepest condolences at the passing of Steve Jobs, one of the founders of our industry and a true visionary. My heart goes out to his family, everyone at Apple and everyone who has been touched by his work.” -Steve Ballmer "Michelle and I are saddened to learn of the passing of Steve Jobs. Steve was among the greatest of American innovators – brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it. By buildin…

The last two minutes of AF447 Cockpit Chaos that AF and the french government don't want you to hear! (and I'm quoting CNN's Richard Quest here: "Air France and the BEA investigating authority are roundly condemning the publication of these last two minutes" at 0:56 of the video). See: http://www.cnn.com/v...-france-447.cnn My thoughts exactly. - jahman.

First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong area.I have been using FS for a while (Since about 2004), and two things have always been a mystery to me. First of all, what is the function of the FMC on large airliners, and what does it actually do in flight? Does it operate somehow in conjunction with the autopilot, and steer the aircraft from waypoint to waypoint? If this is the case, I would imagine that I could not use default FSX ATC and file a flight plan with them, as they would be yelling at me to stay on my assigned heading. The other thing is ILS/Auto-land. I have watched and read tutorial after tutorial, and for the life of me I cant get it right@ Is there any foo…

Hi there, I have recently updated my signature to enforce the forum rules, But I feel like the height restriction is a little too heavy. As you can see by my picture that used to be; Original, With length restriction [not height] [400x128] and now [see below] Is there any way we can discuss with staff members, to fit some kind of compromise with the signitures. Regards, Alex

I have had the (great) little book ‘The Vital Guide to Commercial Aircraft & Airliners’ (Ed. Robert Hewson) for years, but excellent as it is, it is over ten years old now and desperately needs updating (and expanding??). Has anyone got a recommendation for a similar book? I have searched Amazon.com for something similar, but with no luck. Martin

Hi guys, Well ive been thinking about this for while, so can anyone of you help me out? Say if i was returning back from Manchester UK to Newark US, in a COA 752. I was over the atlantic, and suddenly both engines started surging then completley fired out. When we got to a lower altitude it was clear now we would have to ditch. When we got lower about 1000-2500ft we could see the waves were blowing East and it looked very choppy. Right... Would we land into the Waves on a westerly heading, or land in the direction of what the waves were blowing in (in this case East). Or would it be the opposite, to try and land on a Northernly, or Southernly heading…

Hello, I have been plane spotting at Brisbane (YBBN), Australia for years, and I have been wondering when regular A380 services will begin. The daily BNE-LAX Qantas service is flown by a 744, and since they are going to be phased out from 2013, will the A380 be taking it's place? Emirates has a lounge in the International terminal that connects directly to an A380-capable gate, and there are rumors that they were supposed to fly the A380 into YBBN from 2009, but that hasn't happened, as their regular service is currently being operated by 777-300ERs and A340-500s. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Recently Matt Jackson (Vice President of the Unlimited Racing Class and director of the Reno Air Racing Safety Committee) gave the following information to a fellow competitor, at the Reno National Air Race Association. The FAA/NTSB investigation has shown that the cause of the crash of the Galloping Ghost unlimited air racing P-51 may have been caused by something other than the failure of Jimmy Leeward's port side elevator trim-tab, as suggested in the preliminary report. "Original note removed by author" Following a conversation I had with someone associated with Matt Jackson, they stated that Matt Jackson never said what was in that report I was given or least in that…
