I just saw these on a website... Would like to post it here - just to break the ice... No offense intended to your wives or girlfriends... Reasons where planes are better than women: 1. An airplane will kill you quickly... A woman takes her time.2. Airplanes like to do it inverted.3. Airplanes can be turned on by a flick of a switch.4. An airplane's thrust to weight ratio is higher.5. An airplane does not get mad if you 'touch and go.'6. An airplane does not object to a preflight inspection.7. Airplanes come with manuals.8. Airplanes have strict weight and balance limits.9. You can fly an airplane any time of the month.10. Airplanes don't come with in-laws.11. Airplanes d…

Hi, If this is the wrong forum for this kind of topic redirect me.... I am flying with Ryan Air on Saturday 6th of August too Malta from DUB. I have booked reserved seating and the seat I have booked is seat 16A, Is this an emergency exit seat on Ryan Air? and can I stow my bag under the seat in front of me or not? I have flown with Ryan Air numerous times but I have never taken into account the instructions for the seats over the wings.

I was reading about the delivery of the 787 to ANA and came across this article on wired. I would have loved the opportunity that this witer has, and apparently the author is not new to the world of aviation. It's a good read and all I can say is I would love to have their flight training device in my house!Kevinhttp://www.wired.com/autopia/2011/09/787-flight-training/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+wired%2Findex+%28Wired%3A+Index+3+%28Top+Stories+2%29%29&pid=1313&viewall=true

Hey everyone. First post here. Anyway, has anyone here taken the FAA test, the oral, flight, and the written? What kind of questions are in it? Does it ask about anything related to gauges inside the planes? Thanks PS, how do I get my account to automatically "follow" the topic, without me clicking on the sidebar? Thanks.

Only Brits of a certain age will understand, but when I saw the ad for the Jimmy Edwards Memorial Fly-In I thought it was this guy (well he did earn a DFC during WW2) Nevertheless, respect to the memories of both Jimmys.

As an ex airline mech, none of this shocks me,I have experienced most of these allegations first hand,Especially the comment on spray painting over defects,("crack-go-away")I refused to do this personally, that's why I left the industry. I personally performed an eddy current inspection on B-737 cargo door lugs, and found cracks, It was my Friday, when I came in on Monday, my paperwork was gone, and the A/C released.http://english.aljaz...4637901849.htmlIf the site "Al Jazeera" is not good enough for you,you can also see news from the "Washington Post":http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...6041600803.html http://www.pogo.org/...a-20080508.html http://www.thelastin....c…

Looks like for now Alpha India Group have taken their site down, and may also pull all their files from AVSIM. It seems like a dispute over copyright and compilation of works or derivative works for which AIG-affiliated authors claim rights and publish under AIG and another group dba ### AI Traffic which is also publishing. Don't know who is in the right, though certainly AIG have earned some respect by virtue of their work and support via their site. Unfortunately it appears that "netizens" might be attempting to take sides and act in ways that could be damaging to one or the other party. Hard to see how any good can come from this. scott s..

Flying is my calling. I knew it since I was a kid, but my life took a different direction. I would really love to pursue a career in aviation but I'm afraid it's too late. I say it's too late because I'm 25 and have a Bachelor and a Master's in structural engineering, and have been in the practise for 4 years. I went through a lot to just stop in my tracks and jump on a different career path, which would require many more years of schooling. I know that the career path that I chose will be the one that I will be on for the rest of my life, designing structures, day in day out. I have to accept this fact. But I'm not completely content. While I take pride in my line of wor…

This story just came out on Yahoo today:http://news.yahoo.com/feds-warn-small-airplane-terror-threats-003115875.html Need I point out that there has to date been no attack by GA aircraft? There has been a huge one done by truck (okc bombing) -are trucks a concern? Are they banned-worried about worldwide? Need I point out that the amount of devestating payload that a GA aircraft could carry is minimal? Or that Exxon announced today that it will stop production of GA fuel-is this part of a conspiracy to finally placate the airlines and get us pesky GA pilots (who comprise 80% of the daily US airtraffic) out of the way of the autopilot button pushing commercial fleet)? What …

Just saw this posted on flightaware (http://flightaware.com/squawks/view/1/today/popular_new/21843/F_16_pilot_recalls_her_kamikaze_mission_to_bring_down_flight_93_without_ammunition) and then followed the link to the Washington post.Seems her and her commander were to fly their F-16's into United Airlines Flight 93 to bring it down since they were unarmed due to the situation unfolding too quickly to get the F-16 armed.Interesting read. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/f-16-pilot-was-ready-to-give-her-life-on-sept-11/2011/09/06/gIQAMpcODK_story.html?hpid=z2
