Hi guys, I just want to ask a few questions about the 757. Now i know the cruising speed is mach .80, but what do airlines on average cruise the 75 at, in mach today, due to expensive fuel and the age of the 75 itself. Also do winglets effect the 757's handling chararistics itself? e.g more roll? Lastly is Boeing considering a replacement (apart from the 739) for the 757? Cheers, Tom

  2. Never have I heard of the same flight making two emergency landings!!! http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/breaking-news/american-airlines-flight-makes-two-emergency-landings/story-e6freuyi-1226119400449

  3. I quick note about summer in Canada. The weather is great, the golf greens are fantastic. Family is visiting and the grand kids are great. I bought some new Saitek equipment recently, bought some new planes, bought some new scenery and have barely used it. I just can't drag myself into my dark office to play flightsim right now. My RV is great and heading out on another trip shortly. Now that I am newly retired I thought I was going to be flight simming more and it turns out I am simming less. I wonder what fall/winter will bring? When the rains begin and weather here in Canada turns less desirable. I have some simming scenery indoor projects I want to complete and …

Says CNN: GamesCON 2011: (One of) five games that stand out (August 19, 2011). "World of Warplanes" (publisher/developer: Wargaming.net; PC, 2012) When it comes to MMO games, free-to-play is fast becoming the standard over subscription-based offerings. Millions of gamers are currently fighting online in World War II-era tanks in Wargaming.net's MMO, "World of Tanks." Come next year, the game maker will introduce a second game to the fray. "World of Warplanes" will feature more than 60 German, British, American and Russian planes, from pre-WW II biplanes of the 1930s to Korean War jet fighters.Up to 16 players can take to the skies and engage in dogfights in one of three c…

I have attempted to participate in this survey several times now. Nine questions, easy to answer... yet at the end it informs me that it will be sending me a confirmation password to the email address I provided. Nowhere was I prompted for any email address... nor have I recieved any email regarding this survey and a 'password'.

Hello, About 2 months ago, I flew on VH-VZG, a Qantas 737-800 on a domestic Australian route. I have seen on various internet websites that VH-VZG was registered as such in August, 2009 and became ZK-ZQB about a month later. I am confused, as when I flew on this aircraft, it was registered as VH-VZG, which was registered on the New Zealand register 1 and a half years before. Are there any ideas on what this aircraft is registered as and if VH-VZG really is ZK-ZQB?

Hello guys 'n gals I know the forum numbers have gone through the roof since the PMDG NGX release, so a lot won't know me. For those 'wot does', I finally have a new date set for my surgery. This means I'll be winding down here over the coming week or so. Two points... 1) Bit of a bu&&er to have had it delayed in the first place, but it has meant I've been able to get a good few (TROUBLE FREE) days in the WONDERFUL NGX, before loosing yet more of what little grey matter I have left. So thank you PMDG for not waiting another two weeks for release!!! 2) Thanks for ALL the previous good wishes from my friends here. I'll be taking them with me. I'll also be takin…

It has been anounced this week that the Canadian Government is restoring the Royal Canadian Airforce (RCAF). So this looks like their will be some good FS9 and FSX Repaints to do in the next little while as the RCAF is re-branded.... The RCAF was disbanded back in 1968 when the government merged all three branches of Canada's armed forces into one command. The current government acknowledged this was a mistake as it erased many of the traditions of the RCAF. This also means that Canada's Navy will also be restored as the Royal Canadian Navy. The ground forces will also be restored back to the Canadian Army. This follows the same traditions of the United Kingdom, Australia…

  13. Greetings all, I just purchased the BMDG 737 NGX. I was a long time user of the previous PMDG 737 NG. Great products by the way! I have developed a reasonable understanding of the procedures to fire the systems up, program the CDU, etc., however one gap I have in my understanding and that is what else goes on ‘behind the scenes’ once you arrive on the flight deck? I was wondering if a real world airline pilots on this forum would consider replying with a brief play-by-play description of what actions happen when between when you get on board and when you start push-back? Maybe you could reference when you perform them relative to how many minutes you have prior to departu…

Afternoon all, I'm a Primary School teacher in Leeds, West Yorkshire and am looking for an airline pilot to come and talk to my children next term. I've tried my contacts and only seem to be able to find PPL pilots. I'm looking for the pilot to come and talk to year 5 and 6 (9-11 year olds) about the job with pictures (not essental) to give them an insight. If anyone knows of anyone or can suggest ways I could get in touch with someone suitable that would be great. Thanks, Barry

After release of the NGX, I've seen and heard many people saying, that the NG was the first airliner to have been equipped with a Heads-Up-Display. However, I recall reading from Thomas Becher's book "Douglas Twinjets", that McDonnell Douglas offered HUD to MD80 series already at first half of the eighties. Information and pictures seem to exits very few and far between, though. Here are a two folded-up shots:http://tinyurl.com/3mfmsluhttp://www.jetphotos...o.php?id=461831 An article from '78:http://www.google.co...cyAmgBeY-FTnxsg Has anyone seen in-action pictures?

Z23L - Kourou Arkenne (details, google). A 9,560 ft paved runway in the middle of nowhere, smack center Sahara desert, with the Libya/Niger border cutting the runway in half. (Only airport where an RTO would add a stamp to your passport, except ...) No city, no village, no terminal building, not even a road! Just... sand... Anybody have an idea what Z23L is all about? Sand ETOPS safety strip, perhaps? Cheers, - jahman. EDIT: Corrected Niger for Nigeria.

I wandered over to www.therealcockpit.com to satisfy my curiosity as to how much a C172 sim cockpit would cost from them. I was absolutely shocked to find out that a full panel/control set plus the cabin mock-up cost no less than $71,000. Seventy-One Thousand!! Just to compare how much that is, look at all these REAL airplanes you can buy for that much: http://www.controller.com/list/list.aspx?bcatid=13&DidSearch=1&EID=1&LP=CNT&setype=1&ETID=1&mdlx=Contains&PT=70000&SO=15&btnSearch=Search True, I know that you can't always compare the real deal because the ongoing costs are much, MUCH higher than the sim - but shoot, there's a beautiful…

It comes as no surprise that the airline Air France has rejected the BEA's finding of pilot incompetance!!!The courts will have a field day over this and it is likely that Air France will loose any cases of compensation which could put them out of business! They quote "The crew on duty showed professionalism and stayed committed (to keeping the a/c stalled) until the end to operating the flight. Air France salutes their courage and determination in these extreme conditions," it said. vololiberista http://www.bbc.co.uk...europe-14342877

To the "Lady" on the flight going from MSP-SFO, sitting row 23 the other night (if you happen to read this). I was sitting two rows behind you reading on my ipad. You were asleep and let out the most disgusting fart I have ever heard (even over the muffled sound of engines, air conditioning and passenger chit-chat), and smelled. In fact the stench was so bad, me and the other passengers behind you were pretty sure you crapped your pants. While you blissfully slept, your fellow passengers endured a full 7-8 minutes of hell as we were strapped into our seats and unable to escape it the poisoned air.
