I love the idea of allowing us to more freely communicate with each other. thank You for the ongoing improvements, care and attention to the forums and the Avsim site! However, I immediately feared it could be become a supplement for the forums and for those really impatient folks that can't wait for someone to respond. Sure enough I look up and it is Was the purpose of the shoutbox really intended for people who are too impatient to wait for a response to scream at everyone they need help? I think it should be made clear if the shoutbox is a support mechanism or not and if not it should be made clear in the beginning that support is in the appropriate forums and shou…

Saba's (the Netherlands island) Juancho E. Yrausquin airport is, on FSX, under the ICAO code of SABA. However Wikipedia says it's TNCS. So, what is it really? I've always wondered this.

Hello guys,With this new AVSIM web page, it doesn't remember automatically the username and password so I am forced to look for them every time and paste them. I liked in the old days when it was done automatically after the first time. I am the sole user of this PC and the tick is checked on "Remember me" but to no avail.Help please,MAB

Absolutely great series! I purchased a dvd box from ebay for christmas and I am just watching the pilot episodes. This series feels far superior compared to most other 80's series, which today just seem throughly campy, goofy and outdated although they weren't ment to be silly in their days. Don't get me wrong, TOTGM is campy too, but in 30's pulp style like it should be. People's costumes, hairstyle and speech are believable for the time TOTGM represents (1938). Studio sets feel just perfect for representing 30's adventure film and I think this series would be even better in black and white! Last time I saw the series was somewhere in 1983/84 when it was aired in Finland…

Hi all, with my recent purchase of the Captain Sim 767 in the £9.99 sale I saw it included an Air France and KLM livery. As far as I know I thought KLM and Air France got rid of theirs. I would like to know why Air France and KLM got rid of their and what advantage the Airbus A330 gives each airline over that of the B767? I did a search on airliners.net but found nothing.Does anybody know?Merry Christmas!Aaron G.

The ATSB released its final report AO-2008-070 on the Oct 08 pitch upset events experienced by QANTAS A330-303 VH-QPA operating as QA flight 72.It is interesting reading for anyone who has worked in mission critical software engineering. There were basically two problems: First, the ADIRU experienced a failure mode where its ADR outputs were wrong at intervals (report calls these data spikes), in particular the AoA parameter. Apparently this failure mode had never been seen before nor had design analysis anticipated it. The exact cause was not determined, but seemed to be in the CPU module, possible a soft hardware fault in RAM.Second, the flight control computer (PRI…

Some of you that have been around for the last 15 years or so, know that I used to experiment with Java script on the front page and elsewhere within AVSIM. My experimentation got so "bad" that the editorial and technical staff finally banned me from modifying the front page or any other section of AVSIM. It seems I "broke" things all too frequently. I don't remember that, but whatever... I was relegated to playing with the forums. :Alien:So, I have some really, really, bad news... It's time to strut my stuff once again!Look for changes and improvements to the forums over the next couple of months. :Hug:I guarantee that I will become the rock star of forum admins. However…

I used to fly People's Express, Delta, TWA, Eastern, all the great airlines of the past... and just loved it... I started flying with my folks when I was very little, just a todler but I remember getting older becoming more afraid and really minding the turbulence etc...I have very very bad balance, dreaded gym class in high school and was terrible at every sport activity possible..... could my inner ear be "off"?? causing me to mind the bumps and movement more than a normal person with avg to good balance?I was 9 yrs old when I flew by myself for the first time ever, even having to make a connection at KATL when it was under construction yet on top of it!! I remember wa…

Some time ago, users of Facebook we find the ads by a simulator called Pro Fly Simulator, we sold for a price of over $ 100 a simulator that was said to be of high quality. Which was no surprise that it was discovered that the simulator was not what it seemed. The simulator in question was the simulator called Fly Gear name, which is open source and free, recorded on a CD and sold as a new development of overnight. Of this we are talking about one or two years ago.Now the scam has returned to the same ads on facebook with the name changed again, this time under the name Fly Pro Sim, the simulator sends us to the same page of the former Pro Fly Simulator, with images drawn…

Hello there!Wierd behavior occuring off two buttons on the Throttle Quadrant of my Hotas Warthog. The 'RED' button on the throttle handle will release (but not set) the parking brake (?). I want it to reset the altimeter when I'm using REX real time weather. I went into FSUIPC and programmed the button to send the keystroke which I set up in FSX for altimeter reset (( ; )) it works ok and does reset the altimeter if REX Weather is operating. It ALSO kicks the parking brake OFF (if it's set) but doesn't cause it to come back on if I press the button again. From this I deduce:The button may be sending a braking command, which also turns off the parking brake.Darned if…

I am a little disappointed with the survey this time around, but even though Tom did not ask, here is my answer:- pizza, or if there isn't any, then,- those little cylindrical buns with a tiny hot dog in the middle,- but never any of that spicy Korean snack,- and certainly no quiche!Seems to me that the survey is just not complete without that question. Tradition goes down the drain as usual.Best regards.Luis
