Im looking for good planespotters videos that have been posted to the net. I know Youtube has a bunch of them, but do you know specific members pages that specialize in planespotting?

By 'hard IFR' I mean, maybe 400 ft ceiling, maybe light rain, in the clouds for a couple of hours. I, sometimes, look at my ol' C182 and wonder what the conventional wisdom out there is. Gregg

I'm trying to do a simulation of a one man (for now) aviation charter company. you don't have to have an FBO to do this correct? what would I need in R/L? besides the red tape at least one plane a hanger to store it in.. actually wouldn't really need this? correct? advertise fly customers? I know this is highly simplified.. but I'm leaving out the red tape, the cost the blah blah blah..licenses, etc all scheduling could be done by me, correct?

For example many airlines what fly the 757 now have a relitavely low CI therefore the climb and crusing speed will be slightly lower most likely in the mach 0.78 range. So if a 757 had winglets would an airline change the Cost index for the aircraft and could the aircraft fly at a high cruising speed such as mach 0.80-.0.82 in the 757 still being more efficeint and economical. Also i'm talking on the subject of a short haul flight as i know CI's differ from long range cruises to short range. Thanks, Wowk

AVSIM will be holding its annual Board of Directors meeting on Saturday, the 27th of October, in Victoria, British Columbia. The Board of Directors extends an invention to one and all to attend our AVSIM Social which will be held that same evening. The Social will be held in the Hotel Grand Pacific in Victoria. We plan on starting about 7:00 P.M. We will be holding the social in a lounge at the hotel (we'll provide more detail as to actual location within the hotel in the coming weeks). This is a "No Host" event. The AVSIM Social is a great way to meet fellow sim enthusiasts and put faces to names you only see in the forums. AVSIM has been doing No Host Socials since …

Greetings, Someone from RealAir was writing about how people use gagets, GPS, etc... to do a lot of navigation. When I first started simming I had an Atari 800XL with 64k RAM and Sublogic Flight Simulator 2. With Charles Gulick I learned how to do navigation using dual DME and ADF. So for me the real challange of doing instrument procedures is using minimul equipment. The new GPS, moving maps, etc...are really nice and are cool to use. But sometimes I really like to put on my navigator cap and see how well I can really do. Using something like FS Flight Keeper is really good as a review and critique tool. Anyway, I'm starting to flap my gums a little too much here…

I took this picture last Saturday morning (11-August) from State Highway 1 of Mount Ruapehu. Noticed this morning the object in the sky on the left side of the photograph. Did a zoom in with Windows Paint to try and make out what it might be. Anyone have any ideas???

http://travel.usatoday.com/flights/post/2012/08/united-airlines-first-787-takes-flight/828189/1 It seems like yesterday when I was watching an American 777 doing the first avionics testing for the 787. It feels like a few seconds have gone by since I watched the first flight of the 787. Hope they are finally able to really start firing these out of the factory. I'd love to jumpseat on them from HNL.

I was reading an article involving a man who was intoxicated on an international flight, had to be restrained and the aircraft diverted to another airport. In this day and age with increased security, this is the one thing that keeps poping up. The poll in that article asked - Do you think alcohol should be banned on flights? 37.63% said yes 52.26% said no 10.11% don't care I know my POV on this one..... Next time I book a flight from Auckland to Los Angeles, if there is an airline not serving alcohol, then that is the one I would choose. Last time I flew from CYVR to NZAA on a 14 hour flight, their were to guys sitting behind me, drinking before the…

I'm currently studying aviation operations at A-level. In my course i've done topics of the aviation industry and also airline economics, marketing and aircraft peformance. So i decided to choose a leisure airline as an example of airline economics. I chose to do the largest charter airline in the world Thomson Airways Ltd. During research i found out that charter handles the least pax per year out of scheduled and lowcost carriers. I also found out that during the 80's and 1990's charter handled more pax than they was doing now. Also lowcost airlines now operate to touristy destinations and seem to have more flights per day to these destinations than what charer airlines…

Was thinking about where to fly FSX.... As a little boy, I remember traveling with my parents, final destination of Brussels. Flew on a prop airliner from Chicago to Iceland to Luxemburg. I don't remember much but a flight stood in my memory because my mom was rather worried and when we got off (and back on) the plane(s). At Iceland, I distinctly remember we walked through a windy, cold snow bizzard exiting the icy plane stairs. Pilot must of landed and taken off in it and it sure sounds nuts today when I think about how bad this storm was. Course I was a kid so all may seem worse. But asking my mother, the airport we briefly landed at (to refuel?) was Reykjav…

This story is a few hours old now, but an interesting read indeed: http://www.cnn.com/2....html?hpt=hp_t1 I also went ahead and retrieved the audio recordings for the tower and departure for the flight, I'd recommend downloading for a full account of what the crew and tower were encountering in real time. Fun fact, the 757 has no fuel dump capability, so the crew was forced to circle nearby the airport at about 4000 ft for some time (4 hours!!) to burn off excess fuel, as the flight was a transatlantic longhaul. The internet is amazing, isn't it? You can follow any real time story though so many different ways, I love liveATC.
